Went for Restaurant Week 2022. 3 courses for $35. Husband did Caesar Salad, Tenderloin Farfalle and Bananas Foster Bread Pudding. I had Scallops with Couscous, Trout with Fingerling Potatoes and the bread pudding. All of it was amazing! Sat in the patio area with heaters. It was a little cool but worth the view of the fountain and Main Street. Great experience!
Good food. Good atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone.
Everything was fantastic! We celebrated my daugher's birthday and our server was THE BEST! Thank you for a wonderful experience for Sunday brunch!
This was our first visit to Roost but it will not be our last. Our server was attentive without being overbearing, and very courteous. The menu selections were interesting, and the food was delicious. We were very impressed.
Thoroughly enjoyed the food and service!
This place was awful. I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken. Never got the chicken. The lettuce was old limp and red in places. Totally gross. It took at least 10 mins for the waitress to come back and I showed her how bad the salad was. While they did comp the salad I left hungry and displeased
We went here for New Years dinner. The steak and scallops were delicious and the service was great!! Will be back soon.
No the best menu. We had the tenderloin farafalle , it was okay thought I was eating beef stroganoff for an expensive price.
We went on Christmas Eve. Service was quick and efficient and the Atmosphere was very pleasant. Food was average But we were just thankful we were not cooking.
It was a fine experience. Not excellent, but fine. The food was good, but not great.
For such a big buildup…what a let down! The manager sold us on the seafood, prime rib and desserts, especially the cheesecake. Our reservation was for 6pm, and you were already out of mussels, cheesecake, prime rib and green beans. The boiled shrimp was good but that was about it. We will stay at the Hyatt again, but probably won’t eat the buffet at Roost again.
Unfortunately they sat us way out of the range of Christmas music which made it feel like a regular dining occasion. The food was good. Very disappointed in the dessert selection again. For the $50 a person you would think they would have offered better desserts.
The best meal I have had in years! The Christmas buffet was spectacular. I scored major points with my wife and mother-in-law. They have not stopped talking about our meal and experience.
I will definitely be back.
Good food, excellent service! My only negative. Buffet good could have been warmer. Prime rib was good! Desserts were very good! Easy to carry on a conversation, even while seated next to a big party. So many offerings I couldn't possibly taste everything. We will go back!
Christmas brunch. Good variety of foods and quickly replenished. Staff were friendly and attentive.
Our main problem was where we were seated. It was near the main entrance. It was a windy day and every time someone entered or left, a cold wind blew in. Food cooled off quickly too. Such a shame.
Totally disappointed that it was a buffet and there was no indication that was the type of meal to be served on Christmas Day. In these days of Covid I would not have reserved for a buffet meal. Food was only mediocre at best.
The Christmas brunch is always outstanding, and this year was no exception. There is a wide variety of food, from breakfast to seafood to prime rib and ham, all cooked to perfection. The pecan pie is to die for. You will not be disappointed!
Everything was perfect for a Christmas Eve dinner!!
I had the salmon & my husband had the roast chicken which was surprisingly priced $3.00 more than the salmon. Also, by the name (Roost) & multiple pictures of chickens thru out, would assume this could be their specialty. Not the case at all! The tiny half a breast & wing were atop runny mashed potatoes. The price was $27.00! Insane! My salmon was good, but on top of a supposed sweet potato/Brussels sprout hash that was mostly blackened(burnt?) Brussels sprouts with one tiny piece of sweet potato. We will not be going back. There was a notable good thing - our waitress! She was attentive and sweet and we thanked her for working on Christmas Eve!
I made my reservation and choose the covered outdoor seating. When we got there the hostess took us to a high table near the bar and we asked why we weren’t taken to covered outdoor seating table which had-like 4 tables. We were advised they had a full night - our dinner was at 6:15. After realizing we were not happy, someone decided to make it right and offer us the table we requested. We left around 7:30 and there were plenty of seats still available. We have been here 3 times since it’s opened and I would say the food is average and service has been great. There are lots of options if you are stay at the hotel within walking distance so Roost needs to step there menu.
We really liked when the open air patio was not enclosed for Winter.Very very loud to have a conversation without yelling. My filetn was very tasty and cooked just as I ordered it. My spouse got the sea scallops and were very good. Would have been better but only received 4 fairly small scallops for $$30.00. We would suggest going back. Our server was outstanding!
We were there to celebrate Christmas and to explore the Festival of Trees on display at the Hyatt Regency. Several of us had the NY strip which was awesome. The steak came with Brussel sprouts and garlic fries. We had enough food to take home for lunch the next day. On a side note, the artichoke dip with bread and chips was delicious.
Great service and my salad was so fresh and delicious!
We booked a table for 8 people an hour before we arrived, our waitress was so friendly and very attentive. She helped us celebrate our friends’s birthday which was very nice. Food was excellent
Our server was amazing.
This was a hard review to write. Roost stores all their red wine in their cooler, meaning it is served cold. Traditional red wine is served at room temperature, and, frankly, we did not like drinking it cold. We told our server, who basically shrugged, so we asked for the manager, who said "That's how we do it." After being pressed, he offered to see if he could find a bottle that had not yet been cooled, and returned with a fresh, room-temperature bottle. The food was excellent. The second bottle of wine was excellent. I strongly recommend that Roost hold out a selection of red wine, and keep at room temperature for those who strongly prefer it that way. Additionally, might consider using some tact and interest in customer concerns, rather than initially just dismissing the concern.
Food was poor quality. I got a wedge salad and I might as well have just ordered a head of lettuce. It had little to no toppings. It was my anniversary and all we wanted was a nice dinner to celebrate. Our waiter spoke to us like we were children when we asked questions about the menu. My fiancé ordered not chicken pot pie and it looked like peas and carrot mush. Overall, I was disappointed. It was not my first time here but this certainly was my last.
Good place to start your downtown tour of Greenville and especially at Christmas with the Festival of Trees headquartered at the Hyatt Hotel where this restaurant is.
The ravioli (truffle) was bathed in about half a bottle of olive oil resulting in them being soggy. The topping of oyster mushrooms and roasted tomatoes (sun dried) were unseasoned and the mushrooms were undercooked. The filling in the ravioli was so limiting it should have just been pappardelle with truffle oil. Overall not a great experience. We have been many times and the food has been amazing. The menu seemed to be quite more limited as it was in the past as well.
First time great food
Delicious food. Fast service. We’ll go again for sure.
We weren’t very impressed with Roost. The menu was limited. The shrimp and grits was mostly cream and very light on grits. The New York strip was really not good. Our teenage daughters enjoyed their meals: ravioli, burger, pork tacos. There was a cold vent blowing on us and the atmosphere was blah. It just wasn’t worth the money.
Roost used to be really good when it first opened, but we returned last night and it felt like a hotel restaurant. Mediocre food (but quite expensive) and mediocre service - we waited about 15 minutes after sitting down before our appetizer order was taken, and our waters were never refilled a single time. It was disappointing for the price.
Went for Thanksgiving buffet. Great selection of food and great service!
Had a delicious Thanksgiving Buffet.
Great time for Thanksgiving. The food at the buffet was tasty, hot and fresh. The service was on point and there was no rush to turn over the table. Overall a very enjoyable dinner.
My wife and I went to Roost for Thanksgiving dinner. The buffet was amazing. So many choices, and everything we tried was delicious. Our server was friendly and engaging. She kept the table cleared of empty plates and made sure our beverage glasses were filled. Thanks for making our Thanksgiving 2021 so special!
The food was ok.
I would like for management to know about an experience that could have been avoided. We were seated over in the patio area after 4p. While there, there was a kid playing with a ball. The ball landed in a nearby water pitcher that was on a server’s station with other water pitchers. The kid put his hand in the pitcher to get the ball out and then continued playing nearby and shortly thereafter he and his family left. His parents unaware of what had just taken place.
I kept my eye on the pitcher of water because I didn’t want a server to grab it and serve the water to someone. When I saw a sever, I let her know about it and told her to take that water to the back and pour it out!
TAKE NOTE: She simply moved the pitcher of water to the center of the serving station table and walked away. So I placed a roll of silverware in the pitcher of water to ensure it would Not be placed in a customer’s glass.
Then moments later a few servers started circling around the pitcher of water and one pointed at me. I got up from my table and explained to them why the silverware was placed there, and again instructed them to remove the pitcher of water and empty it!!! This time, it was taken away. Hopefully, poured down the drain!!!! Who knows!
If the first server I told the incident to had just taken the pitcher away, I wouldn’t have placed a roll of silverware in the pitcher of water. My actions were to ensure the safety of others and not have the water poured in a customer’s glass and well, you know the rest!!!
You can let the restaurant know.
The service was excellent but the food could have been better. The price of what we got wasn't a great value
Our table was by the kitchen where we heard the head chef or whoever was managing it yelling at the wait staff Gordon Ramsey style including cussing at them. This happened several times over the course of our two hours there.
That said, the House Cabernet was very good, the vegetable curry was great , but the portion was enough for the whole table. Even at $18 most of it ended up in the bin.
