Our server was terrible. The food was bland and expensive. The ambiance was cool, but the experience was disappointing.
Read negative reviews first before you go those people speak the truth there are much better places in the city
The waiter I believe his name was Sam was amazing and very helpful. Some of our party felt their drinks weren't made properly and wanted to change to something else. The manager seemed to be irritated with their request and kept trying to explain how it was made. Then she proceeded to wave her hand as if she was waving them off and something was said to her and they did get their drinks changed and another round to make up for the problem since we were there celebrating a birthday. The waiter we had was amazing and so helpful and kind.
First time eating here and they didn't disappoint.
Not worth price! Poor poor service! Waited hours for meal! Had to ask for the flame jus very poor service on Valentines Day no utensils had to wait and ask for everything at the prices I want to feel a upscale lux experience that was way way below a 5 star credit!
Great environment. Great food. Great staff. Both the waitress and the cook were happy and playful, as well as helpful. Our waitress was bilingual and our cook appeared to be trilingual - which is an awesome attribute to have with the mixture of cultures in the city. One of the knocks I do have was that we ordered medium rare fillet mignon and got well done, but that was minor. There was another party that was a bit loud throughout the dinner but these types of places are to be enjoyed so it was understandable. Also, they were really accommodating to children (2 in our party), and had a good attitude towards them.
It was my friends birthday, and the entire experience was amazing!! Our chef was great!
Love this place ❤️❤️❤️❤️
It was about 6 of us. You can’t sit until the entire party is present although 4 of us arrived together. Valet is $14. Food was decent . Portion sizes decent. Kinda overpriced for no real tricks . 1st and last time attending. I forgot my food and could not get back in as they were closed . Good for groups though.
This was my first time dinning at Ron of Japan, I have been wanting to come for awhile. We went for my boyfriend’s birthday. The service was ok, but the food was delicious.
Shogun dinner was excellent as usual. Tony who prepared our meal was excellent as usual. Love this place.
I was there for my daughters bday I was sat a booth in the corner and it was filthy to say the least. It was 3 children two adults and not worth the $400 bill. There was dust and dirt everywhere. For the prices to be this high they need to pay closer attention to details like this
Great experience overall.
Soup was great. I think it’s super overpriced for what you get.
The best experience as always. Segundo is one of the best, and Sam is a top notch manager! Thank you once again for another memorable evening. We love you! 🦞 🍤 🔥
Been dining here for the last 30+ years and never disappoints. They’re taking Covid-19 seriously by temp checks upon walking in, reduced table attendance etc. Great experience to get out of the house and have a nice dinner SAFELY! ❤️
Love this place, I have being coming for years, service is always great
If you visit downtown Chicago this is a must try! I love everything about it
We had never been to Chicago or Ron of Japan. This was a very pleasant and enjoyable mealtime. The service was fantastic and the food was delicious. We were a party of 6 and everyone really enjoyed their meal and we can’t wait to go back in the future!
Best in the city
Graduation
Best food every time!!
Love the place! Sam always makes our visits special, great manager! Thanks for the Special Shrimp App and Edamame!
Food was awesome. Service was great but Very smoky fan notworking properly.
ALWAYS A GREAT TIME THERE. AMAZING FOOD AND SERVICE. CANT WAIT TO GO AGAIN.
Great place, ask for Segundo as chef. He is amazing. He's been there for 35 years. Nice guy. Been going there for 30 years.
Enjoyed as always
The beef fried rice was disgusting. Everything else was decent that we ate. Server seemed in a hurry, even though we were there for an early dinner and 1 of 3 tables in the whole place. Our chef was fun and pleasant.
In general overpriced for lousy service and average food.
They have a nice atmosphere, the food is so fresh, and they give a generous portion.
Best place on earth minus the service and smell.
Great dining experience !
Food was great the service was amazing
I remember when I went to Ron Of Japan my whole life the chef always put on a show! He would flip a shrimp in a pocket or mouth. He would make a fire in an onion and definitely would make a BIG deal for someone’s birthday. We got nothing. No show. No excitement. We told them it was our daughters birthday on open table and in person and they still did nothing until I got up after dessert and asked if they were coming out to sing happy birthday. Very disappointed because it always was a favorite special place of mine and it’s super expensive but my kids didn’t get the whole experience and greatness of the place so we prob won’t go back. Very sad.
Overall it's a 10 star restaurant but my fault that I did not know about it it was NBA weekend so I should have expected long line long way but overall Tin Star will I come back most definitely
It was great
Great food !
Great location !
Hot Sake highly recommended !
Great experience and great food!
My husband and I went on Valentine's Day and after reviewing their "Valentine Day" menu, I requested their regular menu. I was told that it was not available for the day. The selection, in my opinion was very limited. My husband ordered the California roll and it was sub par. It had no flavor and the rice was over or under cooked. We then chose I entree and my husband got scallops and beef fried rice. I chose filet mignon and shrimp with beef fried rice. Again the rice was crunchy and the beef was ground beef and only seasoned with salt and pepper. No special seasonings. The meat was also just seasoned with salt and pepper. The vegetables that comes with the meal were ok but, they only gave you about a half of cup (if that) of it. Normally when you go to a Hibachi restaurant there is always a surplus of food. Not here. The other two couples at our table were just as disappointed as we were. I made a joke and told my husband that I was still hungry and we needed to get something else to eat afterwards. His scallops were cooked well but lacked flavor (just salt and pepper). Our bill was $160.00 no alcohol just 1 diet coke and a water. The gratuity for a party of 2 was $23. Needless to say, I will NOT return or refer a friend to this establishment. They ought to be ashamed of raising the prices and reducing the portion size.
Ron of Japan never disappoints. Came here on a Friday night and it was a perfect way to celebrate. Both my friend and I did Crown Combo's (Shrimp & Chicken and Sirloin). TIP: Egg sauce on EVERYTHING. I mean rice, veggies, protein - sky's the limit. Always a fun time and maintains quality of service year after year.
It was freezing at our table. The server didn’t ask why all the people at the table still had coats on. I ate my dinner with a coat on and still was shivering like I was eating outside in the cold. The breeze from the front doors was rediculous others that were dining actually got moved to other tables.
