About this restaurant

A delightful, friendly Italian restaurant, Romano's was opened back in 1998 by Romano Silva in a great location on Kensington Church Street, close to the Royal Albert Hall and Olympia. More than ten years on Romano's is as fresh as ever and still a magnet for local politicos and celebrities as well as lesser known discerning diners. Priding himself on the freshness and originality of the dishes offered on his hand-picked menu, Romano himself is still very much at the forefront of the restaurant, importing wine and ingredients all the way from Italy to ensure authenticity in every aspect of the traditional cuisine which has brought a splash of Italian flair to Kensington.

Unfortunately we attended this restaurant on the night the Italians played Spain at football. The drinks we requested had to be asked for again when the meal arrived, one of the main courses was too spiced for the diner, the owner tasted it and shrugged, even in the chain restaurants we would have been offered an alternative, however when the bill came the food amount had been reduced, but we would have preferred a chance to change the meal, there was no dialogue with the waiter offered. Not a good experience on an evening that was to have been our "special meal" of our week end away.

I'm afraid that Romanos was a disaster. We were a group of 9 which should have been relatively easy to deal with but still they managed to mix up our orders and deliver food over a 15/20 min timescale per course and some orders were forgotten even though they were written down and checked. I am also afraid that some of the food was not very tasty. We will not return.

Romano's Rest, Notting Hill, was overall very disappointing. Went for the TT deal of 50% off but we all agreed that we'd rather have paid double and got some decent food! The wine was good and the waiters attentive but we will not be going back.

Romano's in Kensington is a lovely restaurant with a very charming owner who provides friendly and attentive service. Unfortunately the food was quite hit and miss - starters were below par but main courses were delicious. It's worth a visit using this deal but be careful what you order.

Romano's notting hill/high st ken. This was our second visit here. We had the set menu which was quite limited and sadly didn't include even a basic pizza. That being said we had bruschetta and caprese followed by mushroom pasta and a chicken Parmesan. The mushroom pasta was simply the best pasta I have ever eaten and every course was well worth the 25 for two. On the minus side this is the second time they have run out of dessert but they substituted our tiramisu for a panna cotta which was delicious. Hopefully next time I'll get the dessert I want! They must be very popular

Romano's in London is brilliantly located just off High St. Kensington. The staff are friendly and it's easy to talk without having to raise your voice over the din of other customers or piped music. The food was disappointingly average and would have been on the pricey side without Top Table's 50% discount. Although it seems to attract "regulars" and would be ideal if you are dining alone with it's casual and relaxed atmosphere. Worth another try - the pasta dishes looked good.
