Rockwood Grill and Blue Star Lounge
At conference and the food is very good. Ate here 3 times. Caesar is good but heads up dressing is heavy. Poke bowl is really good but the onion is very present. Bacon dates are good. The scallops are ok... not a fan of the Rissotto... just didn’t have a very savory flavor. Rotisserie chicken was very good! Bread and herb butter is yum! View of mountains is awesome!
Although the restaurant was nearly empty, the service was terribly slow. Server was nice but food, especially desserts came out slow. The soup made it just in time for my entree to come out before I’d had a couple spoonfuls, this after she asked at time of ordering if I wanted my soup right away. Seemed strange, as if we were between shifts or something. Food was good but not remarkable. Desserts, while beautifully plated, were clearly frozen and well past their prime. Waited 20 minutes plus for the desserts to come out. Probably won’t try again. It’s a shame. Views are pretty and it’s in close proximity to where I work. They did take a dessert off the check. Thank you very much.
I would definitely go back again!
Always enjoy dinner at the Rockwood. Our server Elena is the best! Thanks Elena for a great evening.
Great food and service. But not good for for quiet conversations
The roasted cauliflower was burnt and everything was very salty. We won’t be back.
The manager was great, but we were seated in the back area with all young families. I am guessing b/c I have a 6 y/o. There were 5-7 energetic kids with little to no supervision(which is not on the restaurant). The buffet was $50 a head and left much to be desired. The manager apologized for the seating situation and gave us a discount on our bill, which was very generous.
The brunch was terrific. The Pink Flamingo drink was a real hit. But we were really just overwhelmed by the talent of the speciality, customized pancake chef. He patiently listened to each child's request and did an absolutely amazing job with the fancy pancakes. What a hit. What a gem.
The food, service, and ambience were all fantastic. The services provided by the professional management and staff are the main reasons that we keep coming back. The old world elegance is a rare thing, and we value their focus to make sure that everything about the dining experience is excellent. I highly recomend this restaurant. Hanna was great!

Our waiter Jovan was superb. Very helpful and personable.

I know it was Christmas dinner, but I'm sure it wasn't the first one they've hosted. Hostess station was overwhelmed, people were walking in behind me and getting seated areas of me with later reservation time, I was finally told "just sit wherever you want." So I wound up taking a table for 8. Food was okay, limited vegetable choices. Dessert bar was good!
Christmas Day buffet was excellent.
Fabulous meal! The salmon, roasted cauliflower, and steaks were amazing! Our staff that served our table were above and beyond.
Nice but noisy
We always enjoy going to the Rockwood Grill. The service and the food are excellent especially the heirloom tomato avocado salad. We go several times a year and have never been dissapointed.
Service a little lacking- food was just ok-vegetables under cooked- a very “just ok” experience and not cheap- probably would not return (wine was good though)
They don’t answer the phone which is frustrating
We went for the Sunday brunch and worth every penny. We sampled almost everything in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Our five year old and seven year old particularly enjoyed the handmade pancakes - Ironman and a lizard. Delicious and wonderful experience.
A small group having a luncheon to celebrate the holidays.
Ehab was a great server
We had an amazing time at dinner! Our server was so nice and patient with us with getting our toddler situated. We did the buffet and everything was delicious! We also found an interesting wine on the wine list. The service was excellent throughout the evening.
The staff was outstanding and the food was great! We would go back again next time we are in town.
The waiter took our order and forgot to place an order for one of our friends after waiting 30 minutes for our meal. The waiter took the drawn butter from my friend who was eating crab legs dipping the crabs in the butter and gave it to my other friend. He was too lazy to go in the kitchen and get another ramekin of butter to give to my other friend...Who takes food from one guest and gives it to the other. This guy had a full head of gray hair...he should know better! The waiter did not offer us dessert, nor coffee or tea. He just brought us the bill...it was quite obvious this older guy was pure exhausted from working. The seafood buffet was not well stocked on last Friday. The serving areas were dirty and food waisted on the serving counters throughout the buffet areas. I'm a certified food handling manager in CA...the health department needs to make an impromptu visit to this place on buffet nights really soon!
Wonderful menu, service, beautiful restaurant with amazing views. Favorite place to dine in Palms Spring, CA.
Food, location, and atmosphere was excellent.
The dining experience left us highly disappointed. We have gone every Thanksgiving and Christmas for the past several years. This year was by far the worst ever. The food selection was limited compared to other visits. The meat items were excessively dry and not appetizing. The pork was not even edible. The ham and turkey were very dry. The prime rib was delicious though. Even the dessert selection was limited and often not identified or misidentified. You had to guess at what the item was and taste it once you were back at you table to figure out what you had just selected. No tongs were available on many dessert items which required people to use their fingers to make their selections.
The service was amazing The setting relaxing. We had the buffet and were pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the food. If I were local I’d be a regular
We were staying at the hotel and decided to eat here for convenience, but ended up coming back the next night because it was so good! Everything from the appetizers, soup and salads to the entree and dessert were delicious and reasonably priced for the area. The restaurant itself looks great and the staff were eager to ensure our experience was exemplary. We even sprung for the over-the-top Pink Flamingo Milkshake on night 2 and were NOT disappointed! Would return on our next trip.
Food and ambiance were great!!! Service a little slow, but they were busy.
Excellent dining on property at the JW Marriott. The flexibility to request indoor/outdoor eating is a tremendous benefit. The menu has a little something for every appetite.
We sat overlooking the water, breathe taking views. Food was fanstatic and service was impeccable! Highly recommend for special and romantic dinners!
Sort of a nostalgic goodbye. Huge annual conference and lounge event that was noisy but still acceptable as it concluded.
Server was very attentive but forward in giving recommendations.
My Angus NY was a bit overdone and tough, leftovers the next day warmed was good. Softened in micro. The scallops that my wife ordered were huge, tasty and delicious on couscous with veggies.
The sauté mushrooms, salad and other food was also good.
We’ve come here (or previous versions) of this place with my family enjoying the boat ride for 20 years but are selling the property. A happy time.
Everything was perfect .
Quiet with excellent service and food.
Food good but nothing outstanding, overpriced.
Food was mediocre, server was pleasant, but pushy with recommendations that were unsolicited. My pasta was swimming in sauce with very little noodles and the seafood had a weird texture like it had been overly boiled? Anyways, the wine list was nice.
I was melting so was very happy an umbrella was set up for me... without me even asking!
Outside Patio- perfect evening experience. Service, food, ambiance is fantastic. Yes it’s at the Marriott Springs hotel so there are lots of people around, however I did not feel it affected our dining experience. Staff is friendly, accommodating and prompt!
Located at the JW Marriott, Palm Springs. Rockwood Grill and Blue Star Lounge overlook beautiful lakes/water features. Both have comfortable outdoor patio seating, delicious cocktail selection, and excellent food.
My friend and I both had flatbread pizza and they were outstanding! Quite possibly one of our top 5 pizzas...Ever! I HIGHLY recommend the Rhythm and Rhyme cocktail (substitute Makers Mark). I had several 😉 Friend liked the Dragon Mojito enough for a refill!
The inside decor was average, slightly dated, but very spacious. With the really tall ceilings, you don't notice the decor very much. Overall excellent choice for a leisurely lunch and cocktails. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
