We were on vacation in Virginia Beach and had tried many other local establishments. Rockafeller’s was definitely the best meal, ambiance and service that we had and we will certainly return if we are ever in the area.
We love in everything visit, thé good is devine.
Next Time will ne in Virginia Beach will mame to go to your restaurant
Great food, loved the ambience, waiter was excellent!
The food was amazing at this restaurant and I love the fact that it is a family owned business. I took my son here for his 6th birthday and he enjoyed the view of the water and his shrimp. Everything appeared to be made from scratch I had the fried seafood sampler with grilled salmon. This dish is enough for two people as there plenty of food on the plate. The only thing was with the crab dip the chef used a little too much old bay to dust our bread with. I will definitely be visiting this restaurant again!
Loved the steamed shrimp.
Great seafood dinner. Fast and friendly service.
Always enjoyable. We stop there every time we're in town. Shellfish offerings are great and the "catch of the Day" usually offers four or five kinds of fresh fish. Busy place -- get reservation (easy to do online).
Great overall place to dine. Our server was a little stiff to begin our experience but he warned up. The food was amazing and the view was awesome. If you like she crab soup or crab cakes this is a must. My aunt had the Crab Norfolk (jumbo lump crab in drawn butter) she hated to eat it all...lol. We'll be back this summer!
We will very happy to get a reservation for our party of eight for brunch, but to be honest, overall it was pretty disappointing. On a sunny day, it might have been a more lovely experience but the food was seriously lacking. Let me give credit where credit is due on the food. People seemed to enjoy the cheesy crab appetizer, and I enjoyed the brunch bowl (adapted to suit food sensitivity), however the Crab Eggs Benedict was served on dry English muffins (real dry), and the only crab was a few small bites sitting on the eggs. Omelets were: 1) average, and 2) who puts cheddar sauce on the top of an omelet and American cheese in the middle? That American cheese food thing was ordered to replace a truly disappointing order of French toast. Who deep fries French toast? Rockefeller's. It was sliced so thinly that all my daughter sensed and tasted was oil. My grandson was disappointed in his shrimp dish. The only hit seemed to be the ribs for the two people who ordered them. We will probably not be going back, and that's a shame because the location is wonderful, overlooking nice boats on an inlet. I might give them another try for lunch, but never breakfast again. The waitress was the best thing about the day. She tried very hard to please, and the hostess had a beautiful smile.
We had a reservation for 7:30 but weren’t seated until 8:15, and the staff had no sense of urgency.
Great view of Rudee Inlet; lovely atmosphere; excellent service and food. We had our toddler, age 3, and my grandmother, age 82, in tow and everyone was easily accommodated and happy. The menu is varied enough for all tastes and I was pleased to see gluten free items labeled, as I have some sensitivity. We all enjoyed our meal and our son was happily entertained with the delicious corn bread, the view, and the crayons and placemat offered by our server. Highly recommend!
Sunday brunch terrific as always. Bloody Mary's terrific as always. Missed seeing Bryan O. We'll catch him next time.
Had made a reservation on OpenTable and still waited for our table. $9.99 for a plate of calamari that wasn't enough to share and was way overcooked. Raw oysters were brought to our table without crackers and waited more than 5 minutes for the crackers and hot sauce to arrive. Although it was busy, who brings raw oysters without crackers? Entrees were decent - crab cake had generous portions of jumbo lump crab meat and little filler, which was a plus, but mine was drowning in remoulade, so that made it difficult to really enjoy the taste. BBQ bacon wrapped shrimp were tasty, well cooked and nicely basted. My husband loved his scallops. It wasn't awful, but wasn't worth the price we paid.
The good was good but the service is terrible. Really awful.
Awesome water views, great service and excellent food. I had the raw oysters and bbq shrimp appetizer and both were excellent. I would recommend for the food alone but paired with the service and views, you should check it out if you haven’t already. I thought the prices were reasonable for the location. Highly recommend.
The food was delicious and customer service was great!
Great place to dine...Oysters Rockefeller was delicious. a great place to watch fish boats come in and unload their catch for the day.
Great service! Friendly staff! Awesome food! Will be there again next week.
It was a good meal, but overpriced for seafood. Service was all great!
Good place, we will probably go back
Love the food and atmosphere ! We drive and hour to eat with you guys! Enjoy everything ever time! Can’t wait to go back!
The food was great and the waterfront view was a wonderful way to have lunch!
Excellent traditional seafood before the Shamrock Half Marathon.
The food was great. Sitting looking over the docks makes for a good atmosphere. All of the staff were very friendly and attentive.
The food was very good. The only problem they had run out of scallops.
We enjoyed every single moment of our visit...from the greeting at the host stand to the final moments with our server! The wine he suggested was amazing...and it paired perfectly with the dinner we ordered. As always the seafood hush puppies were outstanding...and not a crumb remained! Our dinner guests ordered the crab dip and raved the entire meal about how fantastic it was which thrilled us! The food, the atmosphere, the service and the attention to detail never disappoints at Rockafellers!! That is why it is our "go to" place as locals for us and always for our family and friends! 10 out of 10!
We had a marvelous dinner at Rockafeller's. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. Three of my family members don't eat seafood so they were skeptical but they ordered the ribs and were thrilled with their meal. I am already looking forward to dining there again soon.
Food was outstanding. I had the 1/2 rack of ribs and BBQ shrimp combo. Will definitely be back to do that again.
Server was most attentive and described dishes very well.
A smaller crowd (off-season) than expected. Relatively low noise level.
Our window table overlooking the harbor and many fishing boats was especially nice, and not often found in the area.
My wife and I have been dining at Rockefeller’s for years even though it is about a 2 hour drive for us. The views are great - looking out at the boats and birds on Rudy Inlet. Today, the service was great, the views were great but we were a little disappointed with the food. I would say it was about average. The she crab soup was a little too thick and the triple seafood lack some flavor. We will return and hope it returns to its old excellence.
Really great food and great service! I love eating here. Their crab cakes are the best!
Loved everything about the brunch! Got to sit by window overlooking the marina and fishing boats!
Awesome food, service and atmosphere! We felt welcomed from the time the valet came to the car until we got back in the car to leave! Our waiter gave us great options and was very observant even while the restaurant was busy. We will be back again!

We have always been pleased with the food and atmosphere of Rockafeller’s Restaurant so we were very happy to bring our guests there.
She crab soup was cold with little meat and too thick. Oyster Rockefeller had too much filling to hide the tiny oysters. My fried shrimp and fried crab cake were ok.
I am not sure if the service was bad because it was restaurant week or because we were a large group. I had mad a reservation for 10 and called the day before to let them know it was going to be less than that and they said it is no big deal and if we have more than 10 they are flexible. As it turns out we had 13 people which was definitely bigger than the 10 we had planned and was given grief by the hostess. Also, when I made the reservation two weeks in advance I called and asked for a semi-private area, they said they would give me that space unless another larger group needed it but to email them with the details so they could get back to me if that is the case. I emailed all the details and was not contacted back so I assumed we had a semi-private space and when I called to confirm numbers the day before and remind that we had reserved a semi-private space they acted like everything was taken care of but when I showed up for the reservation that was not the case. It took us about two hours to get our food and some of the orders had definitely been sitting for a while because they were cold. If I knew that they as a group we would have issues the day of our event I would have reserved somewhere else and just kept this as a date night place but in my prior communication with the restaurant that did not seem apparent. I gave it a 4 because the food was good but would not recommend this place for a group.
Best lobster deal in town ! Been going for almost 20 yrs !!
First time there but we loved it. My waiter was excellent.
Great location and setup. It was packed but we were seated right away. Food was good (usual fried seafood style) and service was able to keep up with a full house. We had the rockafeller oysters, ultimate seafood platter, mahi mahi, and caesar salad with tuna steak. Oysters and the tuna steak were the best parts of the meal.
Great food. Good prices
I liked the food. The food could use a little more seasoning, but overall it was good.
