Rizzuto's Oyster Bar and Restaurant - Westport Ratings and Reviews
We went for an early dinner at 5:30 PM before going to a play. The empty dining room filled up and unfortunately our table was next to a table of not very well supervised kids making a lot of noise. The $20 prefix menu was excellent value. Entrees came out too fast from the kitchen, before soup and salads and we asked that our seafood and pasta dishes be remade verses sit under the heat lights for 20 minutes. Our server was nice but, not attentive. As more tables came in he had trouble checking back with us. Too fast and too slow is what I remember. Rizzuto's is hit and miss. We have had some great meals there even though it is not a great place. It does not make our favorites list but we will try it again.
Went with my mom, dad and aunt. It was a busy Saturday night. We had 7:30 reservations and were seated immediately. We ordered drinks and a dozen local Blue Point oysters from Norwalk/Westport and they were delicious. I ordered linguine with clams. My mom had the Connecticut lobster roll, which was served warm on a buttered toasted roll. She loved it. My aunt had eggplant parmesan. My dad ordered the appetizer of mussels. The seafood was fresh and all of the food was delicious. I tried the eggplant and it was crispy and tasty. The only complaint was the bread that was served was not fresh which is a sin in an Italian restaurant. The owner came over to the table to greet us after our meal, and he was a great guy, very personable, so we all left with smiles on our faces. Definitely recommend Rizzuto's.
This was the second time we were there in a month. Incredibly disappointing this time and last. I ordered a Caesar salad which had zero taste, a pizza that was so spicy and terrible tasting that I didn't eat it. I broke out in a rash on my neck and my son's wedding is this Saturday!
I have been here a few times, this time on early dinner on Thursday about 6pm! The parking lot was full, not one spot, I thought to myself they must be having a party and have closed the restaurant (but I had a reservation)? So I did get a spot as someone pulled out walked into the restaurant and it was empty!! Note to owners if you can keep your parking open to "your customers" I will never come agian
My husband and I came in for our anniversary. Everyone was very cordial and Angel our server was just great...loved him! He is knowledgeable and very personable. We had a nice bottle of wine and for appetizers, the calamari, fried oysters and clams....all were delicious! For my main entrée I had the cavatelli with pesto sauce and shrimp. It was very tasty as were my husbands crab cakes. We finished off splitting a chocolate truffle filled 'ring ding' with grenache and a cappacino... yummy! The only thing I think that I don't like about Rizzutos is the ambiance of the dining room. Yes, they have a lovely fireplace, which is nice but, we've been there a couple of times now and I was trying to figure out what it was that I didn't care for. And its that BIG window that looks right into the kitchen. It tends to make the dining room cold. Maybe they could soften the feel with some big plants or trees in front of it. Who wants to be dining and looking into a big stainless steel kitchen! Otherwise.....its a great place and a wonderful bar!
When we sat down for the "Fresh Seafood Prix Fixe" dinner at $20.17 per person we were informed that they were all sold out or the entrees for evening. By the time we asked is there were any substitutes they advised us that the entrees had arrived from a sister restaurant. We found that the appetizers and entrees were very delicious and worth while. However, we were not offered an accommodation for the overall delay. The dining room chairs had hardwood seats and very uncomfortable. The waitress Alexandra was extremely pleasant and apologized for the delay.
The service was, unfortunately, really terrible. It was not the waitresses fault--the kitchen was apparently filling phone orders before dealing with ours. We waited for over an hour for our lobster rolls which came out barely warm and the french fries, which we ordered crispy, were anything but. We complained first to the general manager who, in our opinion, did not handle things so well. Then the co-manager came to meet us, Michael, and he was very professional, really apologetic without any excuses. He gave us a gift certificate to go again, a free round of drinks and removed some of the items from our menu. He did everything right, so we will definitely go there again. We had been there the day before and everything was fine so we are hoping that the kitchen will not repeat their mistake.
The food was all well prepared and very good. The server was a little slow this time and wasn't as attentive as others have been. It was still overall a good experience. Have not had a bad meal in all the times we've dined here... and our guests from out of town were pleased with their dinners too..
We've been here many times over the past seven years. Food is good if not spectacular. Menu has good variety so everyone can find something they like (especially those with youngsters). Service is usually very good. Staff is well trained and very friendly and attentive. Good location near the Saugatuck riverfront. When weather is good we often head across the street to Saugatuck Sweets for some ice cream after dinner. Will keep coming back.
Seven of us sat down for dinner recently. I had visited this restaurant a few times before, where we always go for larger family special occasions. Seems like the menu had fewer items on yet still enough to choose from. They had a ton of seafood specials the particular night we visited. I had the filet regardless as I felt like meat that night. It was delicious! Med Well melted in my mouth.. The only one negative was the size of the meat and cheese platter appetizer. The portions, especially the cheese have gotten noticeably smaller since my last visit. We asked the waitress about it, and she brought us a few more pieces of cheese for free. Overall, still a great place to meet and gather with family and friends, and the food is still great tasting.
