We ate here last Thursday. I had the pork shank, she the piccata. Both were great, as was the view.
The best part, however, was meeting our server. I unfortunately forgot his name (happens a lot lately), but he had been evacuated from Cascade Locks with his wife and two dogs and a cat. He made the evening so special, taking time to pair the wine and recommend dishes.
The view and food were over the top, and he was one of the best servers we've had, and that is saying something! We will return, without doubt.
Bravo to dinner and dessert chefs, and to the entire staff, including the greeters up front👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
We arrived at 7:10 for your 7:15 reservation, but it was not given any preference. We were not seated until after all those without reservations who arrived before us were seated: 7:25.
We enjoyed plump, succulent mussels which were prepared in a delicious tarragon sauce.
The food was very good but the service was off. We had a reservation but told outside seating would be about a 25 minute wait. A couple came up afterwards and had no reservation and were seated outside! We were served water right away. Drinks were late in coming and arrived just before our first course. What happened with us and I noticed at other tables was the first course plates were not removed before the second course arrived. This did not happen at just our table but we saw it happen at 6 or 7 tables as well. There is plenty of staff. Training is lacking. Our waitress never checked in except when the salad arrived to ask how it was. We could not respond as it had literally just arrived. She missed the opportunity to sell another cocktail and glass of wine. Pretty view, good food, service needs a lot of improvement.
The servers were very confused. First person poured water in our wineglasses but there was no ice. Seemed like the air conditioner wasn't working very well so we were very warm and needed ice in our water. When we finally got some ice for our water the other server chided us for using the wineglasses for water. While explaining that it was restaurant staff that put the water in the wine glasses, she spilled the water all over the table and the floor. It took several visits from different servers to get us enough ice for all of our glasses.
Our food, in general was cold and not served as requested. Our drinks were not brought to us until almost the end of the meal. There was no dessert offered nor a menu for dessert but we want to get out of there as soon as possible anyway because of the overheated condition.
I would never recommend this restaurant for dinner to anyone.
Overall our experience with lunch was wonderful. Very good food and a great location by the river. Our only disappointment was with the tiramisu dessert. First of all, it came in a cup which meant to us that it wasn't freshly made. A tiramisu is a sponge cake with coffee and chocolate. We tasted the chocolate, but not the coffee and the sponge was mushy. Like it was either frozen and then defrosted or kept in the fridge ready to be served. If they are to offer a cake as wonderful as a tiramisu, then it should be presented as a slice of cake and shouldn't have a mushy texture.

Service level is a bit lacking behind the price. Fairly common for a restaurant in a hotel. Many servers were very young and not polished. One server was more seasoned, his name was Korey and he was great!
One night, we had reservation for 9 pm and when we arrived, albeit a few minutes late, we were rushed as the "Kitchen was closing for the night at 9 pm". This was Saturday night in a resort town....huh? As we exited, several folks in the bar eating and drinking, not sure why the rush as we assumed that to be happy hour food at a discount and we were full priced customers eating off the dinner menu.
At there a few times on this trip, so not a deal killer, just a head scratcher. Attribute to a hotel restaurant on a tight rules policy.
All in all we would recommend as they have good food, accommodate dietary needs, and have great views.
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. We love eating on the deck overlooking the Hood River Bridge and the Columbia River. Can't be beat in the summer! The food was delicious (the focaccia bread with oil/vinegar is incredible). They even brought us a dessert on the house in honor or our anniversary. We've eaten here for breakfast and lunch, and this was our first dinner. Highly recommend all!
I ate dinner on Tuesday night for primerib. Price difference is a lot to swallow. $30 in the restaurant and $12 in the lounge......ouch!!! My primerib was ordered medium well and was cooked medium rare. Our waiter said the cook read the ticket wrong so he put it back on the grill. In the mean time my friend had already got her food and begun to eat. My prime rib arrived just as my friend was finishing her dinner.......so disappointed. I've ate at riverside many, many times and have never encountered this situation before.
For the price, we thought the dinner was just okay. I had the salmon, which was dry and had no sauce or even many spices. Very bland. Veggies were fresh but a lot of butter. Apathetic waitress and young servers who congregated near the doorway to the kitchen and discussed in loud voices their personal lives. It's a lovely location, but I won't be going back if I visit that area.
Wow! I was really so very excited for this dining experience and was so disappointed because of the hostess/ reservation staff.
I was initially coming for work and then my husband decided to tag along being as though it was his birthday.
When making a reservation I made mention that it was my husbands birthday and that a birthday candle or birthday mention would be nice.
I then called 2 hours prior to our reservation and checked to see if they reviewed my note and double checked that they could have a candle on the dessert for our table. It was told to me that yes they did and that it wouldn't be a problem. I was assured that I wouldn't need to say anything since I wanted it to be a suprise.
Appetizers were some salmon cakes with a lemon aioli. It was okay but under seasoned and a bit lack luster.
Our mains were enjoyed with no complaints.
The fish and chips are delicious!!
My husband just had the burger but really enjoyed it.
Dessert time!! I really had to push my husband to split a dessert with me ( since I was expecting a candle or something)
We ordered the lemon cheesecake.
No candle, nothing, not even a birthday anything.
I made so much effort to ensure something as simple as a candle. If they could not have accommodated that would have been fine but I was told they could and would.
This place is not a place you want to go for a special occasion.
Our server also made errors on our bill twice.
Do yourself a favor and just dine in the bar.
The best service I had in the restaurant was the young man serving water.

Our first time visit here from out of state was enjoyable. Some got the steaks, grilled salmon, or broiled fish. All in our group enjoyed the food. Especially liked the local winery cabernet that was recommended by our server. Beautiful views from our window table and excellent service.
I had a very simple request, to be seated far away from someone I knew was going to be there at the same time. I will not disclose my own personal reasons for this but believe me when I say they are valid. The restaurant failed to follow my request. They seated us at the table directly next to them and we were harassed through our meal. This was very annoying. I know my wishes were unconventional, but they were easy to grant. I will now harbor a grudge against Riverside for many years. Otherwise, the food and service were great.
