From the team that brought the celebrated and award winning Vintage Tavern to Suffolk comes River Stone Chophouse. Featuring steaks and fresh seafood in a beautifully designed traditional craftsman-era architecture. Join us for a cocktail lounge and raw bar, then have dinner by the stone fireplace. River Stone demonstrates a unique commitment to providing special dining experiences to patrons and is excited to be the first Chophouse in Hampton Roads. River Stone features Hereford beef, a raw bar, fresh lobster and an extensive wine list to compliment the cuisine. Centrally located in Northern Suffolk, only minutes from five surrounding cities.
Late night dining is available in the bar as well as a lighter fare menu in the lounge. Happy Hour specials Monday to Friday 3-6pm. Reservations are recommended.

I do not want my review to viewed as negative as my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner while celebrating our 33 Anniversary. The quality and taste of both of our meals were cooked to perfection and the taste was exquisite. My only suggestion for improvement was the serving size of the Scottish Salmon seemed to very small compared to most Restaurants we have went to but again the taste was as good as you can get so bravo to the Chef. To close out review i would like to sing the praises of Patrick our server who as good at job as any one person could be. His personality complimented his attentiveness to our needs for water refills and simply checking to ensure we had everything we needed. My wife and I hope Patrick can be rewarded in some way as he surely is great at his job and we will be back not only because of the food and ambiance but more so because of the OUTSTANDING service we received 3/6/2023. Thank you for you time.

Everything was wonderful? Steaks were perfectly cooked, add ons were delicious, and the crab dip was amazing!

Reservation was @6:30, ordered just before or right after 7pm and our food did not arrive until quarter after 8. We were a party of 3, no apps outside of 6 raw oysters were ordered. 2 New York strip, and duck. They comped dessert, which we had to get to go because it was nearly 9pm. Food was good. Oysters were good

The atmosphere was relaxed and cozy, service was great and the food was delicious. The bread pudding was amazing!! Will definitely be back!

My husband and I came here for a belated Valentine's day celebration, and we were absolutely blown away. The restaurant itself is so beautiful, and has a lovely atmosphere. We did the chef's tastin memu and every course, along with their wine pairings, was delicious. The service was also fantastic, we felt taken care of without having too many interruptions to our time together. We definitely plan to come back for a date night in the future!

Food was just okay. Steak did not have any flavor unless you got the sauce on top. Steak came over cooked, which they corrected. Definitely not worth the price. There are other steak restaurants I enjoy a lot better for cheaper. It was our first visit. Checked it off the list; however, will not be returning.

Let’s just say they think VERY highly of their food. Some of the highest prices I’ve ever paid for an average meal. For example; $75 for a bowl of Risotto with 4 Shrimp, 3 Scallops, and a small Lobster tail. My Filet (Lobster Oscar-style) was ordered Med Rare. It came out very rare. The server saw how rare it was and immediately said he would have the kitchen re-fire it. Manager brought it back out and it was still very rare. Since I won’t send an item back to the kitchen twice, I gnawed on the Filet until I finished it. Service was good, the drinks were strong, our waiter was attentive, but I just can’t imagine paying more for a meal here as compared to somewhere elegant like Ruth’s Chris.

Steak was overcooked - ordered medium rare but came out well done. Restaurant made it right by preparing another steak the way I had ordered.
