Great food! Especially the grouper Florentine!
Absolutely uninspired food served lukewarm by a “going through the motions” server. No reason to ever return here.
great food, great service, great view... and I had a great partner... we were celebrating our 40th anniversary and could not have picked a better place
Wonderful lunch before boarding the riverboat! Enjoyed Georgia peach margaritas, shrimp and grits, salmon BLT, and FRIED CHICKEN & PEPPER JELLY. Left empty glasses and plates!
On an additional note... Bathrooms were very clean.
Food were delicious. Service was great. Friendly and welcome atmosphere.
Hostess needs a new job. She obviously hates it and
We came to the River House for a nice dinner while in Savannah for a weekend getaway. Service and food were great. We had the calamari to start which was great. We really enjoyed the sauce served with it and our meals, the shrimp and scallop pasta and fried shrimp platter were great! I really liked that they offered different size wine pours.
Food was good and service was average.
Good dining experience. Convenient location on River Street.
Happy they take reservations. Good variety on menu. Good wine selection. Food tasted great! Service was good. Reasonable prices for fine dining. We were in an outlying room that had large windows next to a hallway leading to other businesses, and the constant foot traffic passing by two feet away was distracting and less enjoyable than if we had been in one of their main dining rooms. However, you could still hear the live music. Overall, a good experience.
Excellent service, food and ambiance. Ordered the seafood boil, wine and an appetizer!
We had lunch and it was good. The restaurant wasn’t extremely busy so our service was on point and the food came out in a timely fashion. Would eat here again.
Food was very salty. Good service.
Our visit to Riverhouse was very poor. The quality of everyone's food wasn't good, nor was the service. The steak I had ordered to be medium rare came out well done. They brought me a new one which was cooked correctly but very tough. The rest of our party's food was also not very good.
This restaurant was well below standard. The food was overpriced and not very good. I ordered the Seafood Paella, which most closely resembled a dry Rice-a-Roni mix. I picked some fish out of it to eat and left the rest behind. The crab dip appetizer was very bland, but the tortilla crisps were good. My husband ordered the flounder, which he described as ok. It took a full hour to get our entrees. I can only assume that’s why our server brought us a basket of bread as no one at the surrounding tables received any. He never gave us any explanation as to why our food took so long nor did he offer an apology. We finished the meal with bread pudding to-go. It was an inedible, soggy mess that was thrown away. My husband had the artillery punch, which was supposed to include the souvenir snifter glass. The server never offered to empty or wrap the glass, and we left it behind because we were already late for a scheduled tour due to the excessive wait. To top it off, the meal and poor service cost over $100 for two people. I would have been happy to pay that amount had the food been delicious, but this was far from it.
Great place. Great food. Great service. I would recommend and I definitely will return.
The restaurant was clean, with clean bathrooms. The food was bland as if made for patrons who have salt sentive diets. The grits were great! Drinks were decent as I had the Georgia Peach Margarita and my husband had a beer. I would definitely go back if the food was to have more flavor.
Visiting Savannah after our two year “exile” due to health issues and the pandemic sheltering in place. Covid protocols were being observed and we felt very comfortable while dining. Our food, Fried Green Tomatoes, French Onion Soup, Grouper Oscar and Shrimp and Grits was all yummy and very filling, leaving no room for desserts. Very convenient to our hotel (Bohemian Riverfront) next door.
Birthday dinner
Good location along river. Best to taxi or walk. Parking difficult to find. Go early. Inhospitable reception upon arrival. Menu selection better than the food. Nice to walk along riverfront after dinner.
We wanted to eat at a seafood restaurant that wasn't all fried foods. We had high hopes but were underwhelmed. While the mahi tasted good, the rest of the dish was bland and the orzo was mush. I had the grouper Oskar and for what it cost, I though there would be more crab. The mashed potatoes were bland, lukewarm and swimming in butter. The grouper was the best part of the dish. Our server did a good job.
Huge letdown. I should’ve heeded the reviews..
Food was okay. Utensils dirty. Service was lacking.
Our waitress was overwhelmed with the number of tables she had and she was not attentive and lost track of items asked for such as drink refills and our dessert order.
The table was unlevel which resulted in our drinks being overturned into my husband's lap. Our server was very kind and apologetic - very attentive as well. However, the food left much to be desired. My husband had a fish and specifically asked if it was fresh caught as the menu did not specify. First, it was undercooked... raw center - he never took a bit. After being grilled a bit longer, he took his first bite to discover the fish was NOT fresh - a very distinct fishy taste. He did not eat his meal.
Did was not very good. Service and staff were fine. Need an different chef.
Perfect spot for lunch and a cocktail. Beautiful river view 😍
Charming atmosphere, excellent food and a quiet spot right off the River. Would definitely go back when back in Savannah.
The food, service and attention to any detail about a dining experience was terrible. Wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Bathrooms were disgusting. Service was great. Food was good. Ambience was adequate.
The lobster and crab bisque was out of this world as was the chocolate martini.
The atmosphere was a great our waiter/bartender was fantastic he really made the night the food was good but do not order the chargrilled oysters they were terrible would never order them again the chef really need to know how to cook but the rest of the appetizers that we got were fantastic we will be back
Food was great, service was excellent!
The waiter was wonderful. The food was terrible. The drinks were great. I will only go back for the drinks.
Wonderful dinner. Had the sea bass and it was perfect. Server was very attentive and friendly.
We had high hopes for this place! Service was subpar for the type restaurant it was. Wine was old and waiter did not know how to serve properly. Food was terrible. Would never recommend this to anyone
Wonderful on every level! Service with a smile..thanks
Service was good and was able to make reservations, server wasn’t so great didn’t feel like she followed up as frequently as she could have overall food was good.
No one answered the phone when I called multiple times to let the restaurant know I was having trouble finding parking. I was provided a lame excuse when I got to the host stand about the phone being in the office. What’s the point of having it then? I was then told that they canceled my reservation because I was late even though I tried to let them know about my issues. I ended up not eating at the restaurant and the River House ruined what was supposed to be a special night.
We were traveling with some friends through Savannah and wanted some seafood for dinner. After reading some reviews, we selected River House. We were not disappointed. Great ambiance and service. The food was amazing.
Everyone had a great meal and cocktails. We shared several appetizers- fried green tomatoes, blue crab cake, escargot, and charred broil oysters... all were excellent.
We tried the signature cocktails- punch and old fashioned...the punch is tasty but will sneak up on you... we could only drink one. We received a nice glass as a souvenir.
Our entrees consisted of the fried oyster platter... best fried oysters we ever had, raw oysters which my husband loved, and the paella.... the rice was so flavorful and the seafood was overflowing. The food was so good we didn’t save room for any of the desserts. But, we will be back.
Only recommendation is to offer vegan butter and milk options.., unfortunately I have a dairy allergy and could not eat most of the entrees because they were made with butter or cream. I had the blue crab salad which was good but I was so envious of everyone else’s plate.
