Excellent food, atmosphere, service. Third time. We travel from Edisto Beach just to have lunch. It is that good
Had the shrimp platter and it was very good. Best pecan pie I’ve tasted in a long time. Overall 2 thumbs up. I’ll definitely be back. Great experience.
menu has a great variety...service is excellent and the food is absolutely marvelous!
Grouper Oscar was excellent. Blackened Mahi so-so. Priced as expected for waterfront dining in a tourist spot. Meal delivered as ordered, timely. Dined early (5p).
Always enjoy our meal here, today was no different. Love the bisque, my favorite! Enjoyed the filet sliders for the first time today, will definitely order them again... so tender and a delicious horseradish sauce that just hit the spot!
The scored whole flash fried flounder was fantastic. Excellent service.
On vacation wonderful spot
We enjoyed the wahoo dinner however it was slightly overdone. The flavor was excellent but texture slightly dry. The service was very good but a bit rushed.
River House Seafood is a restaurant located among many fine restaurants in Savannah. We both chose Wahoo for our entrees, and the dish was absolutely wonderful. A big piece of fish perfectly cooked and brought to the table hot, moist and delicious.
A great choice for fish lovers like us.
Had the shrimp and grits as recommended by my server, disappointing.
Great spot for seafood as well as other options. Food is flavorful. The ambiance was great with a waterfront view from most tables. Staff was very attentive, friendly, and helpful. Reservations recommended as it is popular and located on River Street.
Wanted to try this out while we were in Savannah. Very great food! We will definitely go back on our next trip!
Very disappointing food - mashed potatoes were cold, asparagus hardly cooked, steak raw and then when re-cooked totally burnt. The manager did credit our party for the poorly prepared foods, but almost everyone left hungry because most everything was not edible.
Good food and fresh. Want to go back. Serve top notch!!
Based on other reviews we thought we would try River House. The atmosphere is nice. Our server was friendly and generally attentive. The crab/lobster bisque was tasty. That’s where it ends. My husband and I ordered the crab stuffed flounder. To say it was overdone and dry is an understatement. It almost seemed like it had been cooked earlier in the day and reheated. My daughter ordered the grouper Oscar. It was tasteless and also dry. Our check with tip was $175. The price definitely did not match the quality of food. We will not be back nor will we recommend this place to friends.
Dinner was very average. Expected so much for the price. Had to send back my wife's dinner because the steak was cooked well and she ordered medium. She ended up eating alone. The waitress didn't tell us it was happy hour when ordering drinks. Its located on the river but no outside seating and couldn't see a view.
Our first dinner in Savannah. Excellent service, great food and really good margaritas.
We've been to this restaurant several times and have never been disappointed. A great setting for special occasions as was ours with relatives visiting the area. The food is great and the presentation excellent. Our server did a great job!
When in Savannah, very good option for pleasant dinner/lunch.
our server was terrific, attentive pleasant. believe her name was Superva. probable massacred the spelling. the lobster bisque was terrific the crab cake just okay, muscles were very good
The service was efficient...except for the bar. Bar tender did not appear interested in his job and drinks were very slow coming to the table. Waiter was pleasant and helpful. Food was very good. Overall a good experience.
Flounder stuffed with blue crab was overly salty. Caesar side salad was soggy. It had obviously been dressed long before it was served to us. Overrated.
My wife and I were in town for our 25th Anniversary. River House Seafood was great food in a great location. We would definitely visit there again. The blue crab stuffed flounder was fantastic!
We decided on the River House to try the linguine in clam sauce and the Chatham Artillery Punch. The restaurant is housed in a charming old riverfront building in the historic district. Our server was very welcoming and helpful, going so far as to bring a sample of the punch to see if I liked it as it has quite an array of different spirits in it( the recipe is on their website). It was very good as were the wings ,lobster roll and linguine. The oysters were fresh and very flavorful. The night we were there the was a guitarist playing in our area. The music was pleasing and at a volume that still allowed for conversation. All in all an enjoyable experience.
We were greeted by a less than friendly hostess and seated immediately. The waitress was very attentive and the food was just okay and definitely overpriced for what you get (I had crab cakes). The raw oysters however were excellent. The testaurant itself was dirty, there was trash all over the dining room floor and the bathrooms were filthy. Disappointing.
We enjoyed the ambience of a cozy table and soft lighting. The oysters were perfectly fried and my husband said his gumbo was delicious.
After reading reviews online, I took a chance on this establishment for dinner. We were welcomed with a lukewarm reception, then seated in an extension of the building with a lovely view of people using the restrooms. We ordered drinks and the fried green tomato appetizer to share. Within minutes of starting the appetizer, our entrees arrived. Thank God we did not order dessert or it would have been placed on top of the entree-who does this? I finished the appetizer, while my entree sat in the middle of the table. Once I started my entree, the appetizer plate sat empty in the middle of the table for the duration of the meal. The food was mediocre at best. Upon discussing the sevice issue/food, our server had the two glasses of wine comped. I would not recommend this restuarant-tourist trap. They should take some lessons from Magnolias in Charleston.
The food was outstanding. We try to go here every time we are in town. Great experience!!
Waitress was more worried about preparing for st Patrick's day than serving us.
Great spot for our dinner out in Savannah. The River House restaurant really did stand out among all the restaurants on River Street and I am glad we chose it for its great setting and service.
Excellent food and service.
Excellent seafood meal. Good service. We had the steamed shellfish platter and baked red snapper.
Great food right near the river!
The River House Seafood is located in one of Savannah's historic refurbished warehouses and still has the original brick floor. Th ambiance is quite nice - not too loud, tables not too close together so that you can have a conversation. We were seated right away and had a time limit. Service was good but a tad slow - had trouble finding our server when we wanted to get the bill. Other than that, the staff were friendly, helpful and delightful. I would go back again. The Grouper Florentine was fabulous, the Salmon perfectly cooked, and one guest had the Fried Chicken sandwich which he said was delicious. It was just the right amount of food for lunch - not too much, not too little. Surprisingly not too crowded on a Friday at lunchtime but it did start filling up around 1:00. A must try in Savannah.
While our server was not very good, the food was so we will be back. Mine could have been a little hotter - our theory was that mine was ready before my husband's so waited at the pass and cooled off a bit. But it was yummy - the grouper Oscar. Husband thought his shrimp/scallop linguine was better here than what he had at the Pink House. Good fried green tomatoes and oysters and the biscuits were also good.
This was a great find on our last night in Savanna. The red snapper was amazing. Peach Cobbler was good. Service was on point. My husband and I enjoyed. This is a definite fav in Savanna for me.
Quite a nice choice for our first dinner in Savannah. The plus was it was downstairs in the hotel we had booked! Treated just fair by hostesses manning station outside until we mentioned we had reservations with Open Table and they stepped up the hospitality!! Food was good. Partner and I both had seafood. Drinks were good, too. Very nice perk was the guitarist who strummed and sang quietly while we dined.
Great meal here at River view. I arrived 30 minutes earlier than my reservation, which was no issue, they sat me immediately. The server took a bit long to come over and acknowledge she had another table but once she did she was very attentive and friendly. Food was great.
Went there for the fish. Lots of choices. Our group tried three and all were excellent.
The food and service were great. We look forward to coming back to try more of the wonderful menu offerings.
