We came here for a dinner to celebrate our bachelorette and it was perfect! The staff, the food, the drinks, and the waterfront views were exceptional. So much fun, and our server (I think Courtney) was SO GREAT with our large group (15)!
If you come for the view, you will not be disappointed, beautiful spot. The quality of the food is average for the prices. Our server was helpful and prompt.
Super slow service
Great food, great service, sat on the deck, the place never disappoints.
Too pricy!!! Food only decent they need to work on their risotto l—very bland!
The ease of checking in and being seated to the service, and quality/creativity/taste of each dish was fantastic. I had one of the freshest and memorable Mojitos. Always a great night at Riva Grill.
Riva Grill had a wonderful outdoor patio on the marina with a lake view. Although the service was good the food was only OK. There is something for everyone on the menu. The quality of the food and depth of flavor was poor. For the prices on the menu, I was expecting stellar food with great quality. Unfortunately the risotto I ordered was bland and had a gummy consistency that was detrimental to the dish. The others at the table ordered crab cakes and scallops, both of which were good but very basic preparations. If you're looking for a restaurant with average tasting fine dining food with an exceptional view, Riva Grill is for you!
Ok view of Lake Tahoe but basically a tourist trap
I loved my salad. (It was the wedge)My husband loved his salad and entree. The service was extremely lacking. We waited a long time for anyone to even acknowledge us. I must point out that the servers all appeared stretched to their limit. We weren't sure if they were working short-staffed or what. And then the servers also had to wear very short, tight skirts, with a slit in them. My suggestion to the manager would be to hire someone to just bringwater/coffee/soda to the patrons when they first come in. Another crucial point is that the food is WAY overpriced!!! It's the most we've EVER paid for a dinner.
The food was good. The service was slow. But the view was great!
Excellent outdoor seasonal dining on Lake Tahoe. Very nice views and ambience. The service was very good, but the food was so so. Especially when you figure in the cost. It is pricey.
My daughters 21st Birthday dinner, great experience & wonderful Moscow Mules!
Went here as it was open late on a Sunday night. Ordered the clams appetizer and the seafood tagliatelle. Both were served warm, but not hot. Very nice presentation tho. The clams were nothing special and the pasta had too much pesto sauce on it. The clams were supposed to come with bread, but when I asked they said they don't serve bread...they only have breadsticks and hummus, which he gave us. I thought that was rather odd. Later on I looked at menu again and the clams were supposed to come with bread, and they also have a garlic bread app so how could they not have bread? He didn't say they were out of bread, he said they just don't serve bread. And then we had a bottle of wine and waiter never came back to pour after the first glass. Also restaurant smelled of burning lamp oil from the candles on all the tables
I went to the The Riva Grill for my birthday this past weekend. The food was amazing but our waiter made it a frustrating evening. He was a little rude and didn’t listen to what we had asked with our food. Would still go back if he was not my waiter
Ken,our waiter was very professional and knowledgeable!
Service was great. Expensive place. It was extremely loud in restaurant and hard to hear people across the table from you
Excellent location on Lake Tahoe; attentive staff, delicious food with deck, dining room or bar seating.
Wonderful food, our waiter was preoccupied and forgot about us . The salad was sent back with dirt but the entrees of halibut were really good. It was overpriced but we splurged for the anniversary
You can’t beat the views. The Lobster bisque here is so amazing. The crab cakes were also lovely. Their bartenders were nicer than the waitress we had.
Dinner was quite good as well as the service. Nice wine list too.
Worst service I’ve ever seen. Not by one person but 3 different servers including bartender. Food this time not good.
Coconut shrimp $19.00 for 4 pieces seemed cooked in oil that seemed to have been used to cook with repeatedly. I’ve had this dish before and I’m the past it was very tasty. This day it tasted quite differently. My husband asked for dressing on the side two times and finally midway through his salad she brings it. Ordered a Bloody Mary at bar which never came till I told our server. It took awhile before it came. Other than location and nice ambiance not on my list to return.
The food was great, paired with a amazing view. Unfortunately we had to flag another waiter down for service and at that price point. Its unacceptable.
Best environment, service , food can’t ask for more
Seated us right away, ensuring we had a great view. Our waitress was attentive and made the evening enjoyable. Food was delicious, as were the drinks. Made our last vacation night quite memorable.
We truely enjoyed our experience at the Riva Grill. We enjoyed the beautiful view and the excellent food. We took our time and enjoyed ourselves greatly!
Server was attentive and pleasant. Lobster was one of the best we’ve ever had. Restaurant was not overcrowded even though it was late afternoon Mother’s day. It was a very memorable meal and of course views of Lake Tahoe were a nice addition.
I love the waterfront ambiance of the Riva Grill. I would definitely recommend the place to friends. My only critque is: When I made the reservation I was not made aware that it was for Mother's Day brunch. When we got there we sat at our table for awhile when I asked the waiter for a menu. He casually informed us that it was buffet only. I don't normally eat $55.00 dollars worth of food so had I known I would not have made the reservation. The food was great however. Service not great at all. The server was not attentive to us. We had to get his attention several times. For this reason we did not leave a tip. Your valet service is exceptional.
Very disappointed with the Mother’s Day Brunch. Selection for the Brunch was Very minimal. “Made to order” omelette was awful. We come here for wonderful lunches often, & expected SO much more. My last Brunch at Riva Grille.
The Halibut special was fantastic!
End of vacation/honeymoon
Positive: Easy reservations. Prime location. Outdoor table. Good service with minimal conversation or interruption. 3 out of 4 guests thought food was excellent. 1 thought the entree was very good, but delivered lukewarm. Excellent wine selection.
Negative: Entrees fairly priced considering portion sizes, however wines by the glass felt inflated. $14-$18 a glass is expensive (even considering San Francisco city prices). Muzak made conversation difficult (noise levels in restaurants are far too high these days). We sat outside hoping it would be quieter for conversation. Table needed maintenance, pedestal solid, table loose and wobbly.
Waiter: Dustin, our waiter, was all business in a good way. Minimal conversation, minimal interruptions during the meal, yet always there when needed. Thanks Dustin.
Overall a positive experience. And yes, we will come back. Best
We had a delightful dinner. The halibut special for the evening was special. My wife had the double cut pork chop and loved it. To start we had the lobster and shrimp bisque. Again, wonderful.
Patrick V. was or server and he could not have been better. Very attentive and informative.
We'll be back.
Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The waiters/waitresses were awesome and super attentive. The food servers were prompt and courteous. The food servings were amazingly big and delicious. Would definitely come back the next time we are in South Lake Tahoe !!
The view was a bonus !!!!! Get a reservation close to the sunset time... breathtaking !
The Riva Grill is our "go to" restaurant on the South Shore of beautiful Lake Tahoe. We've been dining here for years, and the food is perpetually delicious, the service is friendly, prompt, courteous and meticulous - and the setting is world class. Summer on the deck with a Wet Woody, or winter indoors with a crackling fire - The Riva Grill delivers Olde Tahoe charm and hospitality. If you haven't been, get there.
We love eating outdoors in the summer months! The cocktails, wine and dinners are outstanding! We introduced our friends to Rivas and they can't stop talking about the Badass Pork Chops!! The Orzo with corn and artichokes was amazing, and the scallops were the best we ever tasted!!
The food is good not fantastic. The prices reflect the location and views of the lake. Service was excellent thank you.
Riva Grill is a little dated with a dated menu. The cocktail menu needs a revision as there is nothing with a kick. I asked if they had anything that wasn't so sweet and the reply was they could throw in some jalapeno. It was really quiet when we were there and service was really off. Waited forever for drinks and then when the came dinner was right there with a forgotten salad. Pacing off. Decor is from 80's I'm guessing. Lots of green and lacquer.
We were seating quickly and had a fantastic view of the lake. Wet woodys were delicious, however the food was over cooked. I had the scallops and they were slightly rubbery.
The View was nice. The boat rental place and the hussle and bussle of the pier was a bit of a distraction to the big picture, which was the Sierra Mountain Range reflecting from the water of Lake Tahoe! Food was great. Dining inside is a good option only when the weather is bad. But, we were fortunate enough to dine outside on the patio, which gave a better view of the mountains reflecting on the lake! The service was also great. Our server constanly checked in on us.
