Our group of 4 had a very enjoyable dinner complemented by our attentive server. After dinner, he suggested and joined us to go upstairs for the best place on the balcony for a group photo with Lake Tahoe sunset in the background. Way to go.

We return often to Riva for the location and good food and fun cocktails. Our recent visit was tarnished due to slow and poor service. We sat for a long while before approached by staff, ordering drinks for a party of 6 took 42 minutes to arrive, we never got offered bread sticks, TWO hours before food arrived, was never asked if we wanted dessert, coffee, or after dinner drinks. Parties around us had attentive service and those arriving after us were long gone as we waited for food and attention.

Riva Grill has a great location right on the water, which makes for a nice atmosphere, especially if you’re just grabbing drinks. The Wet Woody is definitely the star of the show, strong, tasty, and worth trying if you’re in the area. The food was a bit hit or miss. I had the Dungeness crab sandwich, which was just okay, not bad, but not memorable either. The salt and vinegar chips on the side were actually better than the sandwich itself. One odd thing is they have mandatory valet parking, which felt unnecessary and kind of awkward, especially since it puts you in a position where you feel like you have to tip just to park your truck. Overall, Riva isn’t the best spot in Tahoe, but it’s not the worst either. If you’re in the mood for a good drink with a lake view, it’s worth a stop, just don’t expect to be blown away by the food.

Unfortunately our server wasn’t educated in gluten free cooking, made several mistakes and did not deduct the late meals (that had to be redone) from the bill.

Dinner at 7pm felt very rushed. Main course arrived minutes after appetizers arrived. Not worth the high price- was overpriced. Loud and hectic ambiance. Food was mediocre at best. Would not return. Disappointed.

Fair lunch this afternoon. Pleasant atmosphere, we were seated at a window table. Service was friendly and attentive. Food wasn’t anything special and especially considering the elevated prices, the food should have been remarkable! It was just ordinary and pedestrian. You would think it’s easy to make great garlic bread. Theirs was not crispy, nor very garlicky, but mostly cheese. The pizza I had should’ve been bursting with mind blowing flavor for $27, rather than just okay kind of bland. My wife made the same comment about her fish tacos. Alright, but grossly overpriced at $26, and the portion looked rather small. Generally, I don’t comment about prices, only when it’s so out of whack with what is being delivered for the premium price point. Complimentary valet parking was provided and necessary for the location and venue.

If you want a lake front experience that’s about all you will get. My husband ordered the filet medium and shrimp, it was served very rare still cold in the middle. The bacon wrapped around the steak was also very under cooked. He sent it back and did not want a replacement and they still charged 50% of the meal. I ordered the Cobb salad, which was so gross. Wilted mixed greens, canned olives, and over cook chicken. I would never order food from here again!!! Save your money and only order drinks, food is just gross. I’ve had a better meal at the airport.
