Home of the Wet Woody ® and storybook sunsets, Riva Grill is Tahoe South’s premier lake front restaurant located in the Ski Run Marina. The 3,000 square foot deck overlooking Lake Tahoe comfortably seats 200 guests and is a dining experience that is second to none. Floor to ceiling windows in the two-story restaurant provide an equally epic view of the Sierras and Lake. Since 1998, visitors and locals alike have flocked to Riva for the best food and service in town. Try the bacon-wrapped filet and scampi with Point Reyes Bleu Cheese butter, the renown grilled or blackened fish tacos with apple-jicama slaw and micro cilantro or any of their home made wood fired pizzas, to name just a few.     We’ve been to Riva Grill many times over the years. Last night’s meal was truly disappointing. Horrendous in fact. We had 4 adults and 3 kids with us. The kids liked their meals but I can’t help but notice that the Mac and cheese seems to have been a box of Kraft. It looked and tasted like Kraft. The fries that came with our meals were luke warm to almost cold. It tasted like it’s been sitting for awhile. You can always tell when it’s freshly fried. None of us ate our fries. The $16 Caesar salad was horrible. It was served like it was a side salad. In fact, we’ve had better free side salad at lesser rated restaurants. It was oily and it didn’t taste like a Caesar salad that you would expect at a seafood restaurant. Couple of our adults had sandwiches and it was ok. I had the seared scallops with risotto. The scallops were tiny pieces…size of a quarter and the risotto had a sour taste to it that I can’t quite figure out what was done to it. The flavor combination didn’t gel together and I can’t believe I just paid $40 for that plate. Needless to say, we were disappointed. We won’t be coming back. If you’re reading this review, go to Edgewood Restaurant instead if you want a really good meal for almost comparable pricing. Or better yet, go to Applebees and save some bucks! Their food there would be much better and a lot cheaper and will most likely be freshly made. I really don’t mind paying for high priced meals…but if you’re getting food comparable to what you’ll get at a mediocre restaurant, you’d be better off going somewhere else.

    Ambiance was very nice, food was average and very overpriced. Coconut shrimp were good but $22 for four average size shrimp is ridiculous. My daughter ordered Mac and cheese they literally made the box Kraft Mac n cheese. Overall would not recommend this restaurant to anyone

    Very subpar food for how expensive it was. Scallops had no sear, lobster was rubbery, and the pasta had way too much cheese added. All rookie mistakes in terms of cooking.

    Went to Riva Grill during our stay in South Lake Tahoe. We had the clams and coconut shrimp from the appetizer menu and the Dungeness crab sandwich. Everything was delicious. Our waiter was so attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant. Plus, it has a beautiful view of Lake Tahoe.

    Our waiter Dylan us so great!! Very helpful in recommending dishes and drinks, and he has a great personality too! The food is amazing! Prime rib on Friday was so great we came back Sunday night too! Thus time I hit the salad with peppercorn steak, and my husband got a chicken sandwich. All very delicious!

    Mother's day brunch was outstanding. Great variety and great quality. The waiter was attentive and even offered to go downstairs to get my 85 year old mother a plate of seafood.

    We went there for the Mother's Day Brunch on Sun 5/14/23. The price of $79.99 per person is steep but the service and food was excellent. The location is great with views of Lake Tahoe. The also included complementary valet parking which is a plus. We have dined at Riva's before and will definitely be back.

    We enjoyed lunch at the Riva Grill after our lake cruise on the Spirit boat. It was beautiful weather so we enjoyed lunch in the large deck overlooking the dock and the lake. Our server was super attentive. Thanks for a great family lunch on our last day in Tahoe

    Would like to see coleslaw added to the fish and chips. For the price paid ($25) for the fish and chips it would have been great to have the slaw. It’s standard in most restaurants to get coleslaw with fish and chips. The meal seemed a bit incomplete without it.

    We enjoyed our dinner. The food was delicious, and the view was amazing. It was definitely pricey ($50+ per dinner), but the quality of the food was exceptional. Our waiter was somewhat pushy, constantly suggesting drinks, appetizers, desserts, etc. We always feel free to order extra items if we want them without the upsell suggestions. Also, there's a little bit of a dichotomy between the delicious meals, beautiful setting, and the thongs, t-shirts, etc., with suggestive slogans in the display case at the front of the restaurant, as well as the inappropriate names of the drinks (eg. wet woody). I'm not a prude, but it seems weird, considering the setting.

    The ambiance is stunning. The waiters are hard working and on point (tip your severs well people!). Get the coconut prawn appetizer. Wow. And for dessert the cheesecake mocha crunch. Heavenly. The views are stunning and the beach is just a very short walk and the cruise line to the far right looking out, so you can watch the boats come in. I imagine farther in the season you can watch parasailing. We had the bacon wrapped filet mignon with bleau cheese. It was cooked to order and excellent.

    I think the hostess ignored my request on the reservation. My husband and I went for our first wedding anniversary and I requested to be seated close to the lake and that was completely ignored. However, everything else was great! Our server was so nice. Food was amazing! We’ll definitely be back.

    Steak overdone, Tuna Stack was bland. Service and ambience was wonderful. I would go for drinks and sunset but eat elsewhere - especially with the exceptionally California prices. Very poor value.

    Their signature drink was really tasty. The food was great a little over price considering the service wasn’t very great. Overall, I would probably down there again probably sit at the bar though.
