Visiting my college town for the weekend and what an amazing night in the north end! The food was incredible. I had the arrabiata and Caesar and am thrilled at the sauce. And the Italian bread and Caesar were divine. We will be back again soon hopefully!
Had reservations about dining here initially as it’s hard to choose. However each entree did exceed our expectations. Kind of old world upstairs but still a great spot. Would definitely recommend. Overall great dining experience
Thank you Frank and staff! We had a wonderful time as always.
Fantastic Italian menu and service was above expectations
Made a reservation several days prior to bring out of town relatives to Saraceno. While walking through the North End we decided to eat a little earlier, particularly because we were told we could sit on roof deck. We were taken to second level, then told there was a party on the roof deck. Didn't really believe it, but didn't make a fuss. Server friendly but incredibly slow and we sat for over 15 minutes with empty plates and empty wine glasses while servers chit-chatted with each other. Food was only fair. Wine list was sorely lacking in mid-priced range and "house" wine by glass was expensive and not great. Did not strike any of us as an authentic North End restaurant.
Food was very good but ask for the roof top table and was told it was booked for a big party
The restaurant is small but quaint. The staff was friendly and accommodating.
Wonderful Italian family dining experience. Great food, good wine and awesome ambiance! Loved this place! Our entire group was so happy! Thank you!!
I took my girlfriend here, I randomly picked a restaurant in the north end. we arrived and this fresh off the boat italian guy tells the hostess to bring us to the top. we go up 3 flights of stairs to a beautiful roof seating area with vines and grapes. it was beautiful and unexpected. Food was outstanding as well
We were seated promptly for our reservation. The food was good, the service was fine, but nothing stood out about this experience for us. As compared to our other North End dinners during this vacation, this place seemed to lack any personality. We were seated close to the kitchen entrance and had to witness the servers being admonished by the "boss" during the entire meal. Kind of stressful. Again, the food was good (fish special, and two pasta dishes) and I would recommend trying it, but the overall experience and price of the meal was disappointing.
I was ravenous after skipping lunch and opting for an early dinner (my reservation was set for 4:30pm). The spaghetti amatriciana did not disappoint! I started with the house salad which was crisp and cold and delicious and then had this simple entree of spaghetti and sauce with bacon which was hearty, fresh, perfect. Ambience was delightful. Sitting at table in window allowed for ample people watching as I ate. The server was very gracious and respectful of my meal time, giving me space to enjoy without feeling rushed even though I was solo. I liked seeing obvious regulars coming in to eat on a regular summer Tuesday; very good sign when repeat customers are present and visibly / audibly enthusiastic, warm greetings from staff etc. I can tell the spot is a local staple. I especially loved it when the front was opened to the sidewalk letting in the evening air and energy of the street outside.
This restaurant was very disappointing. The broccoli was soggy the potatoes were dried out and the fish that I ordered was overcooked. It also needs a good steam cleaning everything from the menus which had food all over them and had not been wiped clean to the bathroom which was disgusting .
Outstanding service and food at a great price. This is my go to place in the North End and my recommendation when friends and family ask for great Italian restaurant in Boston.
Although I have eaten there a bunch of times with great results, my meal was not very good. I didn't mention it (and wasn't going to) but the waiter asked because my plate was full. I told him the chicken was chewy. He apologized and took it off the bill which I didn't ask for and didn't expect.
Great good. Wonderful ambiance. Fabulous.
We had very high hopes for this restaurant after reading the reviews. However, we were disappointed in the service. They forgot our appetizers, they were slow to serve, and the food was only okay. I feel like an Italian restaurant should never serve over cooked pasta, but they did.
From the moment we arrived we were treated like family! Frank, the owner and the entire staff were amazing. The restaurant itself was like being transported to Italy! And the food! The food was amazing!! I would go back again and again and again. I know there are more “popular” and “trendy” places on Hanover but for a truly amazing meal and experience we highly recommend Saraceno. You will not be disappointed!!! 🇮🇹 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
Sooo yummy and sooo fresh! Always a great spot on Hanover!
Having been here before we were excited to return. Seems that both the food and service have changed...
Meals were warm, not hot. Room in the basement had a musty smell. One of the 8 meals was not to order. Waiter was very good/service was good.
Wonderful food and fabulous service!
Food wasn't as good as our last visit.
The food was so so. It was very loud in the restaurant, due to a table of guys next to us. Had a weird smell in the place and the menu was super predictable and capers salad plate was funny tasting. Lasagna I had was fair. Sausage in it was really grainy, and almost seemed like it wasn’t fully cooked. Would not recommend this place. Go somewhere else- so many choices!
Terrible service, it was sweltering hot in the restaurant with only 1 or 2 fans and AC units that didn’t work, the food is descent but super expensive and small portions.
Saraceno is a personal favorite and always provides exceptional service, including whipping up a little bruschetta when they’re not too busy...reminds me of my family’s cooking. The staff is amazing!
Visiting with family and friends in Boston. Sergio and the staff were excellent and extremely accommodating throughout the evening. The appetizers, entrees, and wine were top shelf! We look forward to a return visit in the future.
We stopped in for lunch with out-of-town visitors and all of us agreed this place is a gem. Great food, great service with Luigi, great ambiance. We will be back.
The food and service are always fantadtic. Franco makes you feel right at home. I love this place!
Great if you like cold, soupy pasta. We waited 40 minutes and got lukewarm noodles and clams. It took at least another 10 minutes to get hot food. Waste of our time.
Visiting Boston North End and decided to try Saraceno's. A great choice! Service was great and the food was over the top delicious! Will definitely eat there again our next time visiting the North End.
Excellent pasta & lasagna!
Having made reservations assumed we'd be sitting in the cute little restaurant front area you see from Hanover street. But no...we were taken downstairs through one weirdly lit basement room, through the kitchen, past another dining room, into another dark room with low ceiling where the men had to duck in some places. Smelled funky, and during dinner 2 different cockroaches climbed past the wall behind us under the tacky fake vines. All in all, one of my most dismal dining experiences ever while wanting to give my friends from out of town a fun North End dining treat. The service was average at best. The food, nothing to write home about. Again. Average at best. But even if those two things had been exceptional the ambiance (coupled with the crawling bugs) was gross.
Horrible experience. Everything was astronomically priced for the quality and the amount received. The prices were also different online than on the real menu. The ambiance in the room we were seated in was awkward (there was a TV playing a very creepy film), the service was disorganized and rushed, and there was no music playing so we could hear the other customers and they could hear us. 10/10 would NOT recommend.
Did not like much the antipasto but the entrees were very good! Cozy little place with a very nice ambiance and great service! Very good wine selection for good prices.
Great food and service
Simple, yummy old school Italian food. One of our favorite North End restaurants. This time had sea bass over white beans, spinach and a puttanesca sauce.
Service staff were attentive and food delicious however the owner was a grumpy old man who made the wrong assumption that his patrons did not peak Italian (which I am fluent in) and he continually belittled and cursed in Italian his staff in public which I found extremely offensive and disrespectful. I will never dine there again.
This place was amazing! Definitely recommend!
Favorite North End Restaurant! Never disappoints!
Very slow service. Food was good, not great. Veal saltimboca very salty and overcooked. Sirloin was perfect. Seafood pasta very good. It seems hit or miss with the menu. Prices were reasonable.
