Loved it here!! Staff was accommodating, knowledgeable, and super friendly.
The food was outstanding!!
Always the best. Thank you.
New Year’s Eve dinner - food was outstanding but service disappointing- they wanted to close (we had a 9pm reservation) so we got lackluster rushed service.
Great dinner New Years Eve dinner! Baby octopus was delicious and tender!
This restaurant has been in business since 1984. It is schooled in traditional Italian North End food. That is not a bad thing at all. Each room has a different design flair. I highly recommend the Blue Grotto room. It captures the spirit of that part of Capri nicely.
First visit. Very nice authentic food and ambiance. Owner was engaging and staff was perfect. Will return often.
Everything about it was awful, from the “sauce” poured straight from a can to the pool of butter surrounding the deeply over-cooked shrimp in one of our friend’s dishes. The waitstaff basically ignored us. Will not be returning.
We were escorted down to a table in the basement, low vaulted ceilings with festive lights. The first floor is the nicest however basement was fine too. The wait staff were pleasant and overall attentive. We ordered a house red and it was unavailable so we were provided an upgraded bottle at no additional cost. The food was very good, my scollops and shrimp perfectly cooked. This is one of many good restaurants in this area, as good as some that are overlooked on side streets. Will definitely be back at some point.
Was sat in a room with only one other table seated, so awkwardly quiet. The only real break to the quiet was the sound of the fridge by the door. Food was the highlight at good, but not something to write home about.
Service was ok. Our waiter was charming, but forgot our order several times, didn’t give bread or cheese for pasta until asked several times.
Cesar salad wasn’t very good
Great staff, ambiance, and food! Highly recommend for authentic Italian
Christmas Eve we were sat in sub ground level dining room that stunk of sewer back up. Had to ask for seating elsewhere when the bleach and sewer fumes became unbearable. Restaurant was not full yet took 3 hours for appetizers and entrees for group of 6. Fried calamari was gelatinous. Had to flag down owner from backroom tv to get a second bottle of wine. We had empty glasses and no service for over 30 minutes. Shrimp was over cooked on all entrees. Lasagna was reportedly good, but I can make better at home. No compensation or apologies. Not the quality, ambiance or service I would expect for a $400 meal. Thoroughly disappointed as my father from Sicily used to love it. Do not recommend and board of health should be alerted.
We were there in Christmas eve, so admittedly a busy night. But we were stuck in a basement room with a low ceiling. Miserable atmosphere. The place was understaffed so the staff was extremely stressed and didn't mind talking about it. When the food arrived, nearly every dish was cold. I cannot recommend the restaurant.
The food was excellent.
Expect to be crammed in with seating. Upstairs is preferable; we were seated in a cave-like room in the basement with fake grapevines strewn around.
I enjoy Saraceno and have been many times. However, they really need to do a better job of honoring reservations in a friendly manner. This is the second time we have had a reservation and had to wait outside in the cold street, with many others who also had reservations, for over 20 minutes with no explanation or attempt to be even kind. Their hostess needs an attitude adjustment! Otherwise I love their spaghetti alle vongole enough that I will still go back.
Food took a very long time even though the restaurant was not at capacity. My dish was okay shrimp had no flavor. The bathroom was dirty and unattended. This used to be our go to place in the city. I don’t think I will be going back.
Everything was perfect! The food was delicious, the ambiance was warm and cozy and the service was efficient and friendly.
Sergio is the best!!!
Top place for Italian in the middle of Little Italy!
Food was great, but very small place, we had a seat by the door. People coming in an out, arguing about reservations, got knocked into a couple of times - table next to me knocked my pellegrion bottle over. It was very cold outside and the door was open a lot with all the drama. That being said the food was fabulous, but there are plenty of places in the north end with fabulous food without the drama.
We love the restaurant—are in NH and try to fit it in if we go to Boston. Food is authentic and very tasty. I am partial to the simple things in life, so even a dish of spaghetti and meatballs here is a joy. Waitstaff are excellent, and they will do their best to please.
Atmosphere is a little bit funky but the food was very good and the service was great.
Tourist trap in the north end of Boston. Don’t bother eating here, I have had better food from Chef Boyardee. They served us used bread, obviously from a prior customer, the butter was half used. There are so many better restaurants in the area. Service was terrible, our waiter took our order , after that couldn’t be bothered with us, his second time speaking to us when he brought the check.
Been going there for years and all the chicken dishes are great.
Awesome place! I love my carbonara. I will be back!
The food was outstanding. Can't wait to get the chicken piccata again.
It can be difficult to find great Italian cuisine in the North End, while it's easy to find run-of-the-mill, bland, uninspiring food. Unfortunately, Saraceno fits the latter group. There were seven in our party. One person had bolognese, which was sub-par: weak sauce that was salty and drowned the pasta. Doubtful that the pasta was homemade. The bread was terrible, like a something that might have been purchased at a local convenience store with no texture, stale and spongy.
The atmosphere was fine. We were seated downstairs in the cavernous basement. We were surprised to see three rooms (or more), a labyrinth of cozy dining spots. Service was attentive. The inexpensive ($40) red wine we purchased was very good.
went there sat night with friends...everything was great until the end...my left overs were put in a brown paper bag which leaked all over my husband carrying it...it was a messy ending to a great night
Smell of mold and cockroaches in the basement eating area.
Family get together
Pasta was homemade and tremendous. 2nd floor = odd ambiance.
The food was delicious, the service was great. We arrived early for our reservation and was accommodated right away. Would definitely return to this restaurant!
Doesn’t actually take reservations. You have to wait when you arrive until they have an opening.
Terrible service. Took nearly 2 hours before we were served. Sat down at 7:45 and had our meals served at 9:25 pm. Barely had time to enjoy the meal as we were going to be late for an event. Server didn’t care nor made any effort to treat us like patrons of the restaurant. Will not be going back again and strongly advise you consider other options given the amount of others in the North End that do treat customers well.
We were celebrating a birthday. The food was excellent and food allergies were accommodated.
First time there. We were seated right away which was good. Simple and authentic food but terrible service otherwise. The wait staff all seem overworked, they are brusque and unfriendly. I don’t mind being seated in a ‘dungeon’ but the space is so tight that the buspeople are constantly brushing by you carrying a huge plastic bin of dishes. I am tired of tight spaces with unfriendly service labeled “authentic experience “. They all treat customers with ‘take it or leave it’ attitude.
Amazing experience!!! Felt like I was back in Italy- very authentic.
Italian from NJ, the food was very good with good size portions and reasonably priced.
Very strange experience. We walked into the very very densely crowded first floor— and we were not acknowledged. Suddenly a woman in a puffy coat hat and boots came from behind us outside and asked if we were waiting for a table. Without speaking or explaining or greeting us in any other way she gestured and we followed her Thru another outside door up very very steep stairs to another loud crowded Sedona floor and we were abruptly seated at a jammed in table in the back.
We ordered an app and a bottle of wine. Then ordered entrees. The calamari was hot and fresh. The lasagna was outstanding. But we waited over 90 minutes for our entrees. We finally asked for our check from another server as ours disappeared.
It got late and the place was empty by the time we left. No one spoke to us again or said thank you.
Again the food was very very tasty but I don’t like to be treated so poorly. Would not go back.
One of our favorite places to have dinner in the North End. We have never been disappointed!
