Ristorante La Luna Rossa is family-owned and provides an ideal backdrop for a quiet lunch or dinner. It has weekly specials and offers wine, as well as other drinks with meals. This eatery also makes a good pick for a family night out.
excellent service, great seafood, a nice small restaurant, offered great gluten free options for us. will return again and again.
Absolutely delicious special! Had the halibut and gnocchi.. My colleague had the bison osso bucco! Wow. ... Impeccable service.
First time coming to La Luna Rossa with my friend. There is a dress code in effect so definitely come in something classier than a hoodie and ripped jeans.
Complimentary bread while you wait but if someone else orders an appetizer and you don't, be prepared to wait. In true European fashion if you get an appetizer, they'll bring it out, give you time to finish it, and then there will be a bit of a wait as they allow you to digest. This is when they'll start on your entrée. My suggestion is either to get an appetizer as well or be content with a lengthy wait.
The food itself is absolutely delicious. Cooked fresh and ready to order! The gnocchi gorgonzola is like little pillows of heaven. Definitely worth a trip just to try that. Since the space is small there is only one waiter but he's charming and attentive.
For the quality of food, the price is fair and definitely worth checking it out.
Great "quaint" Italian restaurant with a family charm.
The limited seating and great food explain why reservations on weekends (and I'm sure at other times) is a must.
A little pricey, but it's worth it for this experience.
It was a bit pricey but the food was delicious and the staff was very friendly.
I was quite surprised by the prices, and the fact bread came without fresh butter , to change from vegetables to pasta an extra 5 $ . The value was not here , and the food was ok but not stunning . I won' t be going back.
While the restaurant seems to be owned and operated by a nice family, the quality of the menu and the ambiance of the room do not justify the prices. The food was good, but not great. The menu was limited, without anything really jumping off the page and tempting the palate. The service was pleasant. The music when we first arrived was horrid pop music, but that was soon changed to something more suitable. The room smelled faintly of bleach. Can't see that we would go back, when there are so many other options.
Benny and his team have done it again. What an amazing meal. The service is top notch and every item we ordered was delicious. See you again very soon.
Great food and very friendly service. You are received at the door as if you are visiting friends. We have been to La Luna Rossa several times and were never disappointed with the food. It is a place where you can bring groups to celebrate a special occasion, bring your family for a birthday or an anniversary. There is no loud music to spoil the ambiance. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant without reservations.
The food was quite tasty but I thought a little pricey. Kind of a mom and pop shop where they really try to serve you. They just did a lot of etiquette faux pax that by the end of dinner kind of drove me nuts. Reaching across my wife to give me pepper, cleaning up our table while we're eating, using soda water to clean the table cloth among others. Food was great but this kind of took away from the evening.
Our group of 4 people very much enjoyed our dining experience. The food was delicious, the prices reasonable and the service was excellent. This neighborhood restaurant is family run with a great deal of TLC. We appreciated the variety on the menu and the small cozy atmosphere. We will return....again and again...
The food is fantastic and the service is even better. Pleasantly surprised the first time we went and went back a second time a week later to try more things on the menu. The second time was just as good as the first if not better. I'm used to going to all of the trendy/popular restaurants downtown. While this place doesn't really have the atmosphere those do, they make up for it in quality of service and exceptional food. Planning on becoming a regular for sure!
My husband and I went out to celebrate and as per usual were not disappointed. The service was impeccable, everyone is so friendly there and the food was delicious as always. We shared our favourite spicy calamari and the bruschetta. Both yummy. My husband had the special which was the game hen wrapped in bacon (amazing!) and I had the seafood risotto which was also very good and full of seafood. We had the dessert specials which were also very good. Already looking forward to our next visit.
From the moment you walk in to La Luna Rosa you feel right at home, from the ambience all the way to the layout. The friendly staff and the awesome food see reasons enough to keep coming back for more.
we have dined previously at La Luna Rossa, mostly at their old 14th st address. The new location is a little more upscale but the menu, and the service remains true to their core business. This is clearly a family run affair with the sons and daughters helping out their father in various capacities around the restaurant. This creates a very pleasant ambiance and it is very clear that the family is paying attention to every detail of the menu and the whole dining experience. We shared a number of appetizers, but the lamb meatballs in tomato sauce was the crowd favorite. The entrees were all well received and we shared an excellent tiramisu for dessert. The wine list is varied across a broad spectrum of price points with wonderful choices throughout. I mentioned that it is "kid-friendly" but my kids are a pretty quiet lot .
Very nice family restaurant. Extremely personable and willing to do whatever it takes to please. Dianna and Falsto were so nice to meet and we will make this a new addition to our restaurant choices. Gnocchi was excellent and the sponge cake dessert was amazing.
La Luna Rossa is our long-standing choice for a special meal. The atmosphere is always warm and friendly, the food is exceptional and it's quiet enough to enjoy the company and conversation. The specials offered by the kitchen are always my choice, and I've never regretted it. Lamb, veal and chicken dishes get special care, and the seafood is always extraordinary.
Having dined here before and having tried to get in several times we were surprised to get in last Saturday.
However as we booked through Open Table we got the worst seat in the house, next to the kitchen and the serving area. If we had phoned we would have been able to request a table more suitable and if not available wouldn't have gone. When we asked for another more private table we were told it was reserved, but it didn't seem to be, as it was given to the next group when they were offered the other table similar to ours and wouldn't accept it. I thought first come first serve?
The food was fine and the servers pleasant, the prices were certainly higher than most Italian restaurants and the experience was not to die for.
only lukewarm on this
Great family run restaurant. Super friendly service the moment you enter the restaurant. A friend recommended this place for having the best tiramisu. Had a nice pasta dinner and when it came to dessert the waiter said tiramisu was not on the menu today. But since they heard we came just for the tiramisu they brought out the last slice on the house.
We have designated La Luna Rosa as the restaurant to go to, for me and my husbands birthdays. We always have great personal service from Benny's son, and of course, no matter what we order, whether it's from the menu or their special of the day, the food is exceptional. We have always taken our two kids with us, since they were little, starting from when La Luna Rosa was on 14th street. Now our kids are in their 20s, and they would pass up an invite from friends to go out somewhere, until after they have gone to La Luna Rosa with us first!
Treated like queens! I booked for 6 people, then the next day changed to 8 people and then called again with 11 people! No problem and we all received wonderful service. the food was outstanding. The scallops and the prosciutto with pear appetizers were really good. I had the butternut squash ravioli and ate every morsel. Most of our party were from out of town but of the intown guests a couple have already booked dinner for this weekend.
It was my first time at this resturant, I thought it was great, the food I ordered was most excellent and presented well, it was nice to look at well as tasty. My wifes food was also tasty and well presented. I is a family owned and operated which are the kind of resturants I enjoy. We will surly be back.
Great place great staff.
Great tasting pasta and wine. Will definitely go back.
the butternut squash ravioli was the best I ever had. I wish the caprese salad had balsamic vinegar on it. Also salt and pepper on table would be nice and would gave liked grated cheese. Over all I really liked it though. Loved all the customers were dressed up.
L Rossa's food is always fantastic, service very friendly. One of our party is a strict gluten free person, and Benny was able to easily accommodate her. LOVE the calamari - best in town. I would always recommend it & Luna Rossa for a delicious and relaxed evening!
If you love Italian food, this is the real deal. The dishes are authentic - prepared fresh. I felt like i was in a restaurant in Italy. The service was exceptional - friendly, good timing with service between courses and checking in, professional AND comfortable. The Caprese Salad was a huge portion - fresh juicy tomatoes, fresh basil and delicious bufalo mozzarella drizzled with olive oil and seasoned perfectly. The Bruschetta was equally fantastic. The specials offered on this evening made it difficult to choose but the Linguini vongole in white wine sauce was fantastic and the Veal Saltimbocca was exceptional. WE WILL BE BACK - the menu has all our Italian food favourites.
This was our first visit to La Luna Rossa and it definitely will not be our last. The food was fantastic with enough of a variety to please all four adults and the teenager who went with us.
The staff was friendly and attentive without hovering.
This place is a true special occasion gem. A bit too pricey for an average night out.
We will be going back.
My wife and I visited this quaint little restaurant for the first time on our anniversary. We were pleasantly surprised! The food was simply amazing! We will definitely be back and will recommend it to anyone!
I have not been to La Luna since they moved 5 years ago. The food was very good then and it still is. The location is great with easy parking , and it is charming . The family cooks and serves you which is also very nice as they are enthusiastic about the food . The place was quite empty for a Thurs night which is too bad. They had T V on no sound which I think should be removed as it is a charming and not cheap restaurant and i like to focus on my food and the company. Overall everything we ordered was excellent.
Bread, meatballs, sausage, pastries all all made by Benny. Ask for a mix platter as an appetizer.
You wont be disappointed. Lots of good seafood dishes -- usually has a fish special for the day.
The kind of place you can go regularly and get to know Benny and his family. They will do that extra special something too.
