Rick's Cafe Boatyard
We are here in Valentine's Day. Incredibly efficient service even though it was very busy. Food and service were good as always. Dessert - creme brulee - made the night!
Had reservation for over 2 months for Valentine's Day seated in Folding chairs shoulder to shoulder to the table next to me with plywood walls very disappointed in Rick's I hadn't been there in quite a while and I guess I know why $24 crab cakes were cold service was terrible used to be my favorite play
Food was great everything else meh....
Requested window table in reservation and upon arrival. Restaurant was not crowded and several window tables were not occupied when we arrived. Half an hour later there was still one window table in the lower main dining area unoccupied. Was seated in the upper dining area near the kitchen across the isle from window tables.
Noise from yelling and loud conversation from the kitchen was distracting if not annoying. Waiters and table cleaners constant walking by our table was constant irritation.
Catfish was tasteless. Waiter did not provide much attention to our needs. Half way through meal my diet coke glass was empty and was never refilled.
Have been to this restaurant several times. This by far was my worst experience. Will be some time before I return.
We were seated upstairs, the seating was way too close together. It was like we were sitting at the table next to us. Our server was great and very attentive. The food was good but the vegetables were a little hard to chew. Overall a good meal but will detail to stay downstairs next time.
Great place to eat on Valentines Day!
Good food and ambiance. Tuna appetizer is a bit pricey @ $17 for the small amount of tuna (3 pieces) you get.
The nachos on the other hand are huge.
Service personal we’re cordial and knowledgeable regarding the menu items. It was a very enjoyable anniversary meal.
#1 favorite in Indy!
Oysters-large and delectable
Pastas and steaks-outstanding!
Excellent experience. Table was ready per our reservation. Server was very attendant. The order was correct and was delivered surprisingly fast!
The food was outstanding. It was served in a timely fashion. I made a reservation and when I got there the restaurant was only half filled and they gave me a table in the bar. It would have been nice to have a table or a booth with a reservation.
sevice was perfect our wait staff paid attention without interupting
our conversations food was great as always thats, why we keep coming back
Friendly staff, scenic view, food was quick and delicious.
We hadn't visited Rick's in ages and that's very sad because it is always a great experience. We will have to make more effort to get out there more frequently. The food was great, the service was fine if a bit slow but they were busy, and they had a jazz band playing as well.
Good food, good service and an outstanding view. My steak was cooked perfectly and flavor was wonderful. My husband had the fisherman’s platter and he enjoyed it. Two thumbs up on the key lime pie. Our server was attentive but not impatient as we took our time, enjoying an evening with friends.
Food is absolutely delicious and we really enjoyed the vast menu with so many selections. The food was excellent and very fresh. Our server did a nice job as well.
My complaint is when I made the reservation via opentable, I requested a nice table since I had been out of town for many weeks and it was my birthday. When we arrived, they had given our table to another party and actually tried to sit us with them. So then they sat us at a terrible table right next to they emergency exit and in between parties that had crying children. It was awful. So I had to ask to please be seated somewhere else and all of the hostesses acted perturbed that I asked which upset me. We were getting ready to drop over $200 for a dinner and they were giving me attitude. They ended up seating us at a great table in front of the fireplace and tv and under he umbrella, that felt like the table I was hoping for but I was disappointed that we weren’t seated here to start with especially since I requested a nice table.
If we return to this restaurant we will sit in the bar area or get food to go. We did not appreciate how we were given attitude when we were the consumers.
And we loved the live jazz music, that was such a personal touch not found at many restaurants these days.
Great food and atmosphere. Would have loved to sit by the window for a better view but it was a nice place overall. Good for a rare date night with my husband.
It was a bit too loud to hold much of a conversation. Also, the restaurant was out of several items from the menu. However, what we all got was delicious and the service was fantastic.
The service was outstanding on this blustery night. Crabcakes fabulous as was the fettucine. Lovely atmosphere
Great place for a business dinner! Everyone had a great time, service and food were excellent!
Enjoyed the brunch on Sunday at Rick’s Boatyard. Excellent service and delicious food. For a brunch meal, I thought prices were very reasonable. For a cold, snowy day, I still enjoyed the ambience.
We haven't finished the first meal yet and they bring second one REALLY what kind of service is that?
We visited during Devour Indy. The food was great, and the views were beautiful. Would recommend to friends and family.
Food was excellent very attentive waiter name Jacob. Atmosphere very warm. Service was excellent all the way around. Thank you
Rick's is a main stay for us. We stop in there about 1 time a month. Friday we both tried new dishes. My wife had the Plum Shrimp. She did not think it had much flavor. I on the other hand the raspberry chicken and loved it! We also had Oyster's Rockefeller that was great!
Rick's is in such a beautiful spot, so every now and then we go there for dinner, hoping it will be better than the last time. Friday we went for Devour Indy dinner and it will be our last. Overly large portions should have been a clue that this would not be fine dining. Our entrees arrived when we were through about a quarter of our salads, for which we were charged extra for bacon on a blue cheese wedge ( who does that?). The waiter asked if we wanted to send entrees back to the warmer but we didn't want to do that with a rib eye so we sent the barely eaten salads away. The rib eye was good but half of the salmon roulade was dry. Key lime pie barely had a lime taste and the cheesecake I ordered was unavailable, so I think they pulled out an old chocolate chip one that was dry and bland. Then the bill arrived and we had to send it back to remove overcharges. My recommendation is to stick to Rick's patio in the summer for casual food and a beer. Fine dining this is not
This was our first visit after moving to Indiana from Oregon. Nick was our waiter and he was great. He was helpful guiding us to some of the best selections and made the whole dining experience very fun. Food was delicious and the cocktails were great!!! Plus the view is beautiful. We will be back for sure.
Service and the food is excellent, does not get better anywhere !
Great service and delicious food. We will definitely be looking forward to going back.
Great food and view!
Everything was nice! It wasn't as crowded; more than likely due to the weather. Our waiter, Cory was STELLAR! The only issue that we had was that the coke machine was not working, and our guest from the U.K. is a Coke FANATIC! So...unfortunately, his meal wasn't complete without his coke; however, the rest of us were satisfied for the most part. OH...I was a bit disappointed that Rick's no longer offer a free birthday dessert. It was my daughter's birthday and she was looking forward to it. She was disappointed as well; nonetheless, she DID order a slice of New York Cheesecake and rightfully so - she wasn't the one that was paying!
Great service ! Enjoyed round booth in the bar. Food was good as usual. Can’t wait for summer- love the outdoor dining !
Love the location menu is interesting and tasty. Love the ambiance classy but not outrageous expensive
The food was delicious and a great value for the quality.
Even at night during winter, Rick’s is a great experience with a great view. Excellent dinner, and an added treat was the great local band playing live music. There were 2 out-of-towner’s in our group, and both were very impressed and expressed the desire to come back to Rick’s on their next visit. Thank you!
The atmosphere of Rich was great the food was excellent very good and respect full service from very tasty appetizers to a wonderful meal and after dinner coffee and dessert was wonderful and looking forward to visiting ricks boat yard in the future
Ambience is great. Service is wonderful. Food was not worth the money spent. It was ok. I had a steak that was very salty from the rub they use. The other steak had more fat on it than meat. Maybe try their seafood. It’s what they r known for. Or have a brunch, they r good for that also.
Wait staff were fine but kitchen was very slow. Portions seem to be decreasing. We miss the live classic jazz. Hope ricks gets back on track.
Always a good meal. Sometimes the service is variable and your server disappears for longer than ideal but not awful.
