This place never disappoints! Food & service were great.
Always have a great experience.....
Food is always excellent....
Service was wonderful....Carlton is an excellent server.
We'll be back...again
Service was a little slow. I understand it was busy, but it was a little slow.
Had the Duck. Found it to be extreamly tough
Date had pasta dish with shrimp and scallops
Great service. Nice place with a nice view. We will be back.
Great food, service and loved the outdoor seating with music. The music however could be turned down. We had a dinner meeting so conversation was a must and it became difficult to hear.
Business Dinner: Great food, service, and atmosphere! Would love to stay there all day! Had issue with reservation since reduced from 9 people to 6 people, the person changed our time to 6pm instead of changing the # of people. But they cheerfully accommodated us and seated us on the outside patio as requested. No problem; we thoroughly enjoyed our time together as a team!
Wow first time to Rick’s with visiting girlfriends and we LOVED the atmosphere, food, views and service! Can’t wait to return
David was a great waiter and very informative. He was very polite and well spoken. He gave very good service and got a 37 dollar tip for a 63 dollar bill. Great work David, keep up the good work. Greg and Annelys on our 1st anniversary dinner.
The service and food I received was amazing. I will be back soon!
I was very disappointed in the service. We were celebrating my husband’s 60th birthday. The table was great. We never received any bread even after I requested it 2 or 3 times. We didn’t receive water either. There was no mayo on the child’s sandwich, even after we requested it twice. The ketchup arrived 15 minutes after our meals.
I also requested a special cake or dessert to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The service was so poor I didn’t even bring it to the waitress attention.
I was very disappointed and a little embarrassed. My husband and my daughter had never been to the restaurant before and I had bragged on the food and service.
The waitress did apologize several times but our experience was ruined.
We frequent Rick's Boatyard often. We usually go for lunch, but last Saturday we went at 6:30. They were extremely busy, not a problem, but our waitress was also serving in the bar and we had to ask other servers when we needed something. We were there for over 2 hours with my 92 year old mother and 3 year old granddaughter.
We love sitting out on the deck and enjoying the view of the water and boats.
Beautiful view over the water! Great service and food! Beautifully plated with an artistic flair. I had the Tempura Shrimp is was lightly battered and delicious. A bit pricey but not disappointing at all.
The service was poor, and the food was lack luster. We ordered the calamari appetizer and the dish has changed since we were at Rick's last. We got six smallish pieces of calamari for a family of five. At one point, we got a water refill and it tasted weird, and the waitress just brushed it off like it didn't matter and didn't offer to get us a new drink. The food was brought out by a gentleman that wasn't out waitress, and she didn't come back for quiet a while to check if we needed anything.
My husband got the surf and turf for his birthday dinner, and the lobster was rubbery and overcooked (though he said his steak was good). It seems like service and quality has gone downhill at tons of restaurants but it's sad to see Rick's go this way as it's one of my husband's favorites.
Food was outstanding service was outstanding also. Only downfall we were seated outside under multiple ceiling fans. We asked the server to either turn them down or off but he did not know how. Server contacted the manager who did not change anything nor did he/her come to speak with our table. Food cooled off very quickly.
Our favorite neighborhood restaurant—love the water views!
Great evening to sit on the deck
Good place for getting together with friends. Very nice ambient and scenery. Staff are friendly.
Went there for my husbands bday. Asked for a table with a view and maybe something special for his dessert (lighted candle or something). Got neither unfortunately:(. Also had to ask another server to find our server on two occasions during the meal. Food was good though. Wish we could have sat by a window with a view.
His was my first visit to Rick’s. My food was excellent. My husband was not impressed with his though. I had the creole crab filet and thought it was cooked perfectly to my request and was delicious. I also had creme brûlée for dessert that was amazing. My husband had the prime rib sandwich and it was lacking any flavor and the meat was very tough. He had the fruit crisp for dessert and it was watery and the “crisp” was pretty soggy. He said it was basically glorified oatmeal and fruit. The service was mediocre. It took about 10 minutes for anyone to greet us. The server that brought water, bread and plates never said one word to us. Our actual server was not overalls friendly and didn’t ask us if we wanted to hear specials. She just asked if we knew what we wanted. The weirdest thing was that the 3 servers working the deck area were literally running everywhere if they didn’t have food or drinks in their hands. They would deliver food or drinks and run back to the drink station or wherever. Very odd. Overall I thought the food was good. Service was strange but I would be willing to try it again.
Been here several times and the service was by far the worse! Waiter was totally disengaged and really could care less about our table, more interested in other tables around us as there were woman of his age!
Ricks Boatyard provides for a wonderful atmosphere and great food.
Only negative was there was a sign for valet parking but it was not operating. It happened to be a pouring down rain type of night and on Saturday nights when dining out we prefer restaurants they offer valet parking.
There was a hair in my food. And I think its unsanitary that they use open straws.
Have enjoyed dining here many times. The food is always good, and priced right. I celebrated my 75birthday with my family and everyone enjoyed their meal and can't to do it again.
Was raining hard so screens were down which contributed to higher noise level.
Food was fantastic. Service was very good.
Drink prices too high!
Good food, reasonable portions - not too much. Wait staff was a little indifferent. Food was brought out without even looking us in the eye.
Mentioned on opentable reservation that we were celebrating our 10th anniversary, but the waiter never even asked if we were celebrating anything... no biggie, but no-one is reading the opentable reservation comments either.
We had an enjoyable experience.
Our food was absolutely amazing. The view from the deck was breathtaking.
Can't say enough good things! We went here for a business lunch. We arrived 30 minutes early and they already had our table ready for us. It is one of the first places we have gone as a group where everyone enjoyed their meal. We sat outside and the view was beautiful. Even though it was really hot, with all the fans going, it was still a decent temperature. I would highly recommend!
Food was good, but just a bit pricey. Boathouse ambiance, reasonable noise level and good (but not outstanding) service. Food arrived quickly, and was warm, and cooked correctly (steak).
Great place beautiful view
Although I had an excellent experience at Rick's a month ago, this was poor in multiple ways. The table wobbled despite the server's attempt to resolve the issue. I ordered breast of duck because I have not seen it on another menu in this area. In the past, living in the New York area, duck was a personal favorite. The server explained that the chef typically prepares the meat medium rare. Because the roast duck I had in New York was never rare, I questioned the recommendation. The server checked with the chef who said that the meat could be cooked more but would lose some flavor. So, despite my reluctance, I agreed to the "usual" way there. The flavor was passable, but the meat was hard to cut and chewy. The server brought a steak knife that worked better but not much. Despite my good naturedness through all of this, I gave up trying to improve matters and returned the meal. By then, I was too tired to deal with the menu and ordered a simple hamburger. I asked for well-done. It was not. It was medium to medium rare. Later, I couldn't help but think that the meat was either a bad cut or else the bad recommendation was deliberate. The chef should have come to my table and apologized but did not. Last but not least, the server resented the cancellation of dessert.
Everything good, but the bar drinks were terribly watered down. Wine only for me at Rick's!
The service was good. Our waitress was outstanding. The view and surroundings were nice. However there was one common theme from everyone at the table. The food was good but we expected better for the prices being charged.
Food is always good
Bill was 42.25.
Gave our server (cody?) a $100 bill
Got $52 back in change.
Short changed by $5.75.
So when I FINALLY GOT him to acknowledge us again,.. I explained why I was only leaving him what might look like a $2 tip since he had already withheld the first 12%...
I love coming here and eating outside and watching the sunset. Kind of a beachy type experience close to Avon. Great atmosphere good food I really like it here.
Food was great and, even though the restaurant was packed, service was very good, food was served in a reasonable time. We will definitely be back!
Not being our first dining experience here we were excited to have the opportunity to enjoy the fabulous food Rick's has to offer. We ended up arriving early, not knowing how traffic would be due to all the Indy road construction, and was able to be seated prior to our reservation time. The view was awesome as always. Great to watch the sailboats on the reservoir. Great food selection. I decided to have one of the daily fish specials. Was a little disappointed that the fish was over cooked. Everything else my wife and I had was spot on.
One of the best restaurants in Indy
Great view of the water while dining. Waite staff was great. Comfortable, cosy place for 2 or 20. Great menu . Everything was fresh and came to the table hot. Will go back.
