Rick's Cafe Boatyard
Scottie our server and bartender was great ! Food was great …. Atmosphere was beautiful ….
Horrible experience from the beginning. Utensils were dirty, had food on them. We ordered chocolate cake and the plate it came on was so dusty. All we got from the manager was an apology. Service was horrible.
The restaurant is pretty cool looking, food was lousy, but I had a burger, so maybe other things are better.
This venue is best when the weather cooperates. We happened to be there during a cold, windy, rainy day, and while the "patio" was enclosed in plastic and heaters were operating from the ceiling, it was dank and gray. The parking lot was full, which meant deploying umbrellas and splashing through puddles to navigate to the front door. The service was VERY slow, and the food adequate, but no better than that. We wondered if, like many restaurants during these post COVID times, they were impeded by lack of personnel in the kitchen or at the tables. The people who waited on our table were, however, very friendly and nice.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Indianapolis
Very accommodating with the seating arrangements. the first table was in a noisy area with no view except a plastic tarp and tables. Moved us to a great table in a quieter area with a munch better view of the reservoir. Thanks
Amazing food and scenery, great and attentive service, and our waiter was great!
Great outdoor seating with great view of Eagle Creek. Our waitress was wonderful and attentive!
Great view, good food
The food was amazing and we had the best waitress!!
Amazing views and service, with phenomenal food! Thank you
Very disappointed. Made reservations for a Sunday dinner to celebrate a milestone birthday. Hostess noted the "special" day because she read it on my reservation but it ended there. Not sure why I noted it if they didn't offer anything. Nonetheless, the first place we were seated was outside but on 4 chairs it had pasta sauce and crumbs. On the floor was a handful of pasta and the red sauce. Completely cramped in the space we were seated and with the ants on the table and uncleaned table/chairs, we asked to be seated indoors. We placed our orders and then opened the napkins with silverware. The fork in one had a real thick reminiscence of someone's food. It wasn't a smear like I've seen at other places, this was a thick piece on the entire prongs of the fork. Then the napkins both had crumbs all within. Showed the server and she even said it was bad. Service was slow and she did forget to return with napkins when a spill occurred on the table. Food was just okay and nothing impressive but then again with all that occurred earlier we weren't in a great mood. Definitely need better cleaning with the silverware and seating area or else people will not even enjoy their meals.
good food. good selection. good variety. reasonable prices
The food was good can't really complain. We asked for ketchup which came once we finished the meal. Probably 20 minute wait. Also a drink refill would of really been nice our server never even asked.
It was our first time going. The food was really good. The only thing we noticed was the portion sizes on certain items wasn't what we expected for the price I guess? Otherwise, the table that was chosen for us was great. We celebrated our anniversary. Definitely recommend the Mud Pie for dessert. It was loud in there but they were also super busy so it was to be expected. Overall, our experience was really good and we will most likely come back a 2nd time!
The food was not good at all and over price. Sat outside and had to deal with the flies.
Clam chowder was excellent, catfish fillets were okay nothing outstanding. Other 3 folks were happy with their meals. I will try something different the next time.
Great food …. Great outdoor atmosphere …. Scottie our bartender / server was outstanding !!!!
First time here and will not be our last. This is easily my new favorite. The food is exceptional, best in Indianapolis and perhaps all of Indiana. And that is what is number 1 in my opinion. We came because I saw on the news Ricks was voted #1 for outdoor dining experience. That of course is true, it was crazy to sit in a place that seemed like we were actually in Florida and not Indiana. Go to Ricks you will not be disappointed.
We enjoy eating on the deck. The view is wonderful.
The appetizer crab cakes was very good but the portion was small
Our waitress Amanda was AMAZING, very kind, personable, and attentive. Price was a bit steep for lunch, but we enjoyed spending my birthday there.
The food and service were very good, as always. I love the outdoor setting with the view of the reservoir. My reason for rating "ambiance" low was because none of the servers wore masks. I realize that being outdoors is lower risk, but the poor servers are still getting exposed to diners eating without masks and we, as diners, are then also exposed second hand to that risk. I strongly encourage the restaurant to protect their staff and customers by masking their serving staff. Right now I can't recommend dining there because of this as much as I like everything else.
My favorite go-to spot for the last 8 years!
Party of 4 celebrating my dads 73rd birthday. We have been many times before for both casual/celebratory dinners. We had to wait 45 minutes past our RSVP, inside bar was closed..so we waited patiently. We could tell the staffing was short, however; our server was amazing and unfortunately ran his butt off with MANY tables. Despite being super busy, he did great. Unfortunately, the food was not as amazing as prior visits. Hard times for sure for the service industries. All in all...it was fine!
Always a great place for lunch or dinner out on the patio!
Sitting out on the patio and being able to enjoy your meal is perfect. It was very busy for a Sunday night and it wasn't too loud.
Food was very good. We enjoyed the outdoor seating with view of water. Alcoholic drinks took a long time…had to remind server. Apparently, they ran out of glasses for the drinks.
We sat outside and the view was great. Have to try the Mimosa tower next time. Good food and our server was very attentive even as she got busier.
The food and the service were amazing! My only complaint is that it was so loud that it was impossible to have a conversation at the table. Next time I'd opt to go on a weeknight in the hopes that it's less busy and a little more enjoyable.
Great menu, food is of excellent quality and well prepared. Server was attentive, friendly and professional. No doubt one of the best views of any restaurant in Indiana. A little pricey but well worth it all things considered.
The lobster tails were cool, not hot. They did taste ok.
Delicious food and great atmosphere! Drink selection is great too.
We were outside, it was a beautiful evening with fantastic views of Eagle Creek. Our server, Eric, was great. Noise level is pretty high, so if you are looking for a quiet place for dinner, this may not be it. Food is very good , but probably won’t blow you away. Will definitely be back.
Great food, beautiful view. Have eaten here several times and the food and ambiance are always outstanding.
The ambience and service were good. But the food was average and overpriced for average fare. The filet mignon needed flavor. Need to use a higher quality of meat for tenderness.
Our server was very poor. Mixed up the wine orders, then charge us for the mistake. Also, salad order was incorrect and I paid anyway. He was very slow! On a night that was not terribly busy!
Our server Cody was excellent!! Our food was delivered timely and hot. Overall excellent experience. The atmosphere on the lake was very relaxing and beautiful!!
The family (one daughter is at Purdue) met up to celebrate Dad getting new job. Rick’s is closer to Purdue than our town. Eating outside is beautiful this time year.
