Rick's Cafe Boatyard
The Rico's Dip is always a favorite appetizer. My server helped me select a wine that I enjoyed.
The server was friendly, knowledgeable and fast. The food was very tasty and we loved the bread.
Food and service were excellent. Pace of the meal was a bit slow, or at least got off to a slow start. But overall a very good dining experience.
Quality brunch menu. Perfect view over the lake. Great service. Friendly staff throughout.
Have a pork chop and my wife had Cuban chicken. Both were very good. Our server was good and attentive. The only suggestion I would make is to do some cleaning/painting on the woodwork around the windows. This is obviously a popular place and that has left its mark. Looking forward to coming back and eating on the terrace.
We had a great time and it was our first time and a great time to do a surprise 40th birthday dinner with family and friends. The live music was amazing and the setting by the fire place for us and our guest was amazing vibe. Our hostess was attentive to our request. We cannot wait to come back in the summer time to experience the scene that we have been told about.
I’m not sure if our server was new but after serving our water he told us if anyone wasn’t going to drink their water to pass it over to the one person at our table who did not order an additional drink Throughout the course of the meal I repeatable ask for a water refill and it took forever. We had no problem getting an iced tea refill
My husband and I enjoy Rick's atmosphere. We have never had a bad meal there. The seafood is always outstanding. Rick's picks half price wine bottles are always top notch. We love it!
We had reservations at 4:30 PM. Arrived at 4:25 was seated immediately. Ordered appetizers salad steaks and two mixed drinks. The steaks were to perfection salad was excellent drinks were great bread was awesomeAnd the atmosphere and view are Spectacular.
I have been curious over the years about what had happened to Rick's Cafe Americain in Indy and Googled finding this establishment. We were ecstatic to find it! The food was delicious. We had catfish and also Parmesan Chicken Fetuccine, both were great. Dessert was good as well. The service once sat was courteous and prompt. The only thing that kept this from being an overall 5 star was on my reservation for wife's birthday (which seems like it wasn't needed because of plenty of open tables) I had specifically requested a table with a view and we were sandwiched in a corner on a small table for two. I approached a server who graciously moved us to a better area with a better view. We look forward to returning during the warmer months when there is activity outside.
Food was outstanding! Initial server seemed to not know his way around menu very well, but it didn't harm the overall experience. Extremely high-quality food and drinks and the restaurant has a very comfortable, upscale feel to it. Will definitely be returning after the weather warms back up to experience dining on the deck again.
I LOVE Rick’s Boatyard Cafe but I thought if I made a reservation I would get a better table then sitting arms length or shorter away from two other tables on each side of us. Food is always amazing. Calamari is a must have every time.
Our day after Valentine's dinner. We went early at 4:00 p.m. so got the best romantic table in the restaurant, by the front window next to the fireplace. Our server, Alexis, was the ultimate professional, attentive without being annoying, and timed everything just right. The food was perfect. Thanks for a very pleasant V Day.
VERY NICE RESTAURANT AND PEOPLE ARE NICE AND GOOD MANNERS
We are here in Valentine's Day. Incredibly efficient service even though it was very busy. Food and service were good as always. Dessert - creme brulee - made the night!
Made reservation a month in advance. Asked for a table near the fireplace as this was a February evening date and it is cozy near the fire. We arrived on time and got seated far enough away that we couldn't even see the fireplace. Our server was great. The food well prepared. The live band was a bit loud but I appreciate live music. I would recommend this place and go again but it was not the Valentine's day I had planned.
Had reservation for over 2 months for Valentine's Day seated in Folding chairs shoulder to shoulder to the table next to me with plywood walls very disappointed in Rick's I hadn't been there in quite a while and I guess I know why $24 crab cakes were cold service was terrible used to be my favorite play
Food was great everything else meh....
We were seated upstairs, the seating was way too close together. It was like we were sitting at the table next to us. Our server was great and very attentive. The food was good but the vegetables were a little hard to chew. Overall a good meal but will detail to stay downstairs next time.
Requested window table in reservation and upon arrival. Restaurant was not crowded and several window tables were not occupied when we arrived. Half an hour later there was still one window table in the lower main dining area unoccupied. Was seated in the upper dining area near the kitchen across the isle from window tables.
Noise from yelling and loud conversation from the kitchen was distracting if not annoying. Waiters and table cleaners constant walking by our table was constant irritation.
Catfish was tasteless. Waiter did not provide much attention to our needs. Half way through meal my diet coke glass was empty and was never refilled.
Have been to this restaurant several times. This by far was my worst experience. Will be some time before I return.
Great place to eat on Valentines Day!
Good food and ambiance. Tuna appetizer is a bit pricey @ $17 for the small amount of tuna (3 pieces) you get.
The nachos on the other hand are huge.
Service personal we’re cordial and knowledgeable regarding the menu items. It was a very enjoyable anniversary meal.
#1 favorite in Indy!
Oysters-large and delectable
Pastas and steaks-outstanding!
Excellent experience. Table was ready per our reservation. Server was very attendant. The order was correct and was delivered surprisingly fast!
The food was outstanding. It was served in a timely fashion. I made a reservation and when I got there the restaurant was only half filled and they gave me a table in the bar. It would have been nice to have a table or a booth with a reservation.
sevice was perfect our wait staff paid attention without interupting
our conversations food was great as always thats, why we keep coming back
Restaurant is pretty, service was great.....However you go out to eat for the food, and the food was nothing to write home about. My wood fire pizza was cold and soggy, Salmon needed more sauce was luke warm, no flavor other than the sauce, Mahi was same, needed sauce and heat. Burger was the best, as it seemed warm. Chicken Parma was okay. As I said for the money, Maybe a good place for drinks! We have been many times but not for years, and I was excited to go back, disappointed!
Friendly staff, scenic view, food was quick and delicious.
We hadn't visited Rick's in ages and that's very sad because it is always a great experience. We will have to make more effort to get out there more frequently. The food was great, the service was fine if a bit slow but they were busy, and they had a jazz band playing as well.
Good food, good service and an outstanding view. My steak was cooked perfectly and flavor was wonderful. My husband had the fisherman’s platter and he enjoyed it. Two thumbs up on the key lime pie. Our server was attentive but not impatient as we took our time, enjoying an evening with friends.
Food is absolutely delicious and we really enjoyed the vast menu with so many selections. The food was excellent and very fresh. Our server did a nice job as well.
My complaint is when I made the reservation via opentable, I requested a nice table since I had been out of town for many weeks and it was my birthday. When we arrived, they had given our table to another party and actually tried to sit us with them. So then they sat us at a terrible table right next to they emergency exit and in between parties that had crying children. It was awful. So I had to ask to please be seated somewhere else and all of the hostesses acted perturbed that I asked which upset me. We were getting ready to drop over $200 for a dinner and they were giving me attitude. They ended up seating us at a great table in front of the fireplace and tv and under he umbrella, that felt like the table I was hoping for but I was disappointed that we weren’t seated here to start with especially since I requested a nice table.
If we return to this restaurant we will sit in the bar area or get food to go. We did not appreciate how we were given attitude when we were the consumers.
And we loved the live jazz music, that was such a personal touch not found at many restaurants these days.
Great food and atmosphere. Would have loved to sit by the window for a better view but it was a nice place overall. Good for a rare date night with my husband.
It was a bit too loud to hold much of a conversation. Also, the restaurant was out of several items from the menu. However, what we all got was delicious and the service was fantastic.
The service was outstanding on this blustery night. Crabcakes fabulous as was the fettucine. Lovely atmosphere
Great place for a business dinner! Everyone had a great time, service and food were excellent!
Enjoyed the brunch on Sunday at Rick’s Boatyard. Excellent service and delicious food. For a brunch meal, I thought prices were very reasonable. For a cold, snowy day, I still enjoyed the ambience.
We haven't finished the first meal yet and they bring second one REALLY what kind of service is that?
We visited during Devour Indy. The food was great, and the views were beautiful. Would recommend to friends and family.
