Rick's Cafe Boatyard Ratings and Reviews
Omlet was mostly potatoes, biscuits were old, coffee was tasteless, and the entire meal was barely warm. Hope this was an isolated incident as we have flown/ driven here on occasion and will certainly try it again. Everyone has a bad day.
Great location. Nice atmosphere for birthday gathering. Waitress was very good. Oh and we were way too crowded. Very few costumers but we were bunched up like the place was packed. And one of our chairs was broken.
Have been there several times and usual it's a good meal and atmosphere. However, this last visit left much to be desired for the $250 bill for 5 people (2 minors). We had rsvns at 5:30, so it wasn't that they were too busy in the kitchen - just a "meh" meal at best. Had to send back the filet for being way too rare for a "medium" (a shame because it was a beautiful cut of meat). The shrimp scampi needs more lemon and watch the butter they serve with the bread - it's sweetened and "seasoned" - quite the surprise. I added a blackened chicken breast to my pasta dish - good seasoning flavor, but a bit dry. On the plus side, my dad really liked the special - sea bass and a crab cake and they absolutely nailed the seating request I'd asked for (booth if possible, but nothing in the middle of the room).
We are from Wisconsin and have eaten at Rick's each of the last 4 times we played in the Big10 Championship game. The food is wonderful and the service is excellent. The Yukon gold potatoes are to die for! if I would change anything it would be the noise level. It is tolerable but a little hard to carry on a conversation with the folks at the end of our table for 6.
Food was fair, no tuna at 7:30 (but waited 15 minutes to tell us), delivered entrees but left finished salad plates without removal, water must be scarce because it took two requests for a refill and the mahi mahi smelled like it had been cooked in same pan as salmon.
Once again an absolutely enjoyable time at Rick's Boatyard. A longtime friend joined my family for a meal from Atlanta, GA and she loved it so much she requested that the next time she visits that we bring her back! Great service and outstanding food. It is my go to for out of town guests.
We went to Rick's on Thanksgiving evening and one other person and I in our party ordered the Thanksgiving meal and the other two ordered from the menu. We all felt the food was good and the service excellent. My son remarked that his calamari was the best he'd ever had and was cooked perfectly.
The only thing that distracted from our enjoyment was that there was a live band playing at the same time music was being piped in over speakers. This made it very noisy and the music discordant.
But, all in all, we had a very nice time.
Another awesome thanksgiving. Our latest and greatest tradition. NO TURKEY AND THE sides for us. That's for later over the weekend. We had an awesome view of the reservoir, the setting sun, the holiday decor etc. Very romantic....just hubby and me....steaks...a nice red wine....no screaming kids and I dressed to the nines. Our waiter Tim was very good, hard working and intuitive.
About 10 years ago or so we came to your restaurant for several Thanksgivings. In 2010 we had our wedding anniversary there. This year we came for Thanksgiving again. To our surprise the quality seems to have gone downhill. The food was served after having been dished up for quite a while. The turkey was served with dry inedible parts, the gravy had the sheen of having been left too long and the dressing was served including the burned, edge of the pan, portions. The pie crust was a close to cardboard as I have ever seen. Now at a large, family Thanksgiving dinner all of the above will probably show up BUT NOT at a restaurant such as yours and NOT for $25 bucks a plate. Well, not unless you are not wanting any repeat business. It appeared to me that no one, including the server, gave what was being served any attention at all before it was brought to the table. The price of a meal is long forgotten IF the food and experience is of top quality. Ours was not. I wish you to understand that this review is for the meal we had and nothing else. I have no way of knowing if this is an isolated incident of a common practice. I do indeed hope this was the former.
I had the blue crab ravioli this time. Pretty good but the sauce wasnt my favorite. It seemed to overpower the flavor of the ravioli. The crab cake it came with was amazing. My husband had the plum shrimp (which i had last time we came here) and that is probably my favorite thing onthe menu. So good!!! We also had the smoked salmon nachos for an appetizer and they were very very good.
My boyfriend and I met some friends here for Brunch one Sunday. We had a great time. There were a lot for different Brunch food options. Or you could order off the regular menu. I ordered the Seafood Frittata. I thought it was just okay. It was more like a Seafood Omelet then a Frittata so I probably would not order it again. And I also didn't love the side of Breakfast Potatoes. I didn't think they were cooked long enough, not very soft. I did try my boyfriends Stuffed French Toast and that was very good. So I would definitely go back for Brunch, I would just order something different.
I have eaten at Ricks’ several times and have usually enjoyed my dining experiences however on this occasion the service was not up to par. It appeared there was only one wait staff and he was overwhelmed. Wait time was unacceptable due to only one wait staff .
I brought my wife here for her birthday on November the 6th. It’s one of her favorite places to eat! We have always had great service and food! Very quick also!! Her favorite is the catfish I would have to say my favorite is the bbq Pizza or the bbq nachos!
