Great, honest service. Our waitress steered us toward amazing dishes and wonderful wine. Highly recommend!
No open table points for reserving so what's the point of being open table if the diner ft ets no perk? The prices were very high for the amount of food you get. Food taste was super great.
Our waitress was very scarce and came by very infrequently. It was bunch time and was not busy, although slow service. The other waitress was at her two tables quite frequently and one time asked us if we needed our server. Yes. Take away the slow service and this place is very nice.
Brunch was excellent!
Ordered 4 medium plates and an entree to share! Love that we got to taste multiple things. The waitress was also very friendly and attentive. Overall a lovely meal.
The food was disappointing. We had a mushroom cassoulet that had very little flavor and still had grit that they hadnt washed off.r
The food was exceptional. Our server was amazing. We dine in Asheville a lot and had passed by on our way to Posana (all time favorite). We are glad we decided to try and will be back for sure.
We’ve been before & had much better experience. Maybe service was slow because of holiday weekend. Chicken dish was great & filling, spouse disappointed with steak portion. We were given a free bread/cheese app because we had to wait even with reservations. The manager checked on us more than our waitress.
Dinner Saturday night 2/15. Very busy, parking very difficult. Seated promptly. Menu with interesting options. Service good.
Great food, great service. They never disappoint. Don’t hesitate and book a reservation it is worth it. The previous review from Washington DC was a table we sat next to and we had to ask to be moved. They were a classless couple and were having a very public argument which completely disrupted each table around them trying to have a nice Valentines weekend dinner. They were rude, inappropriate, and dropped the F bomb at each other every other sentence. I applaud the effort Rhubarb put into relocating each table and being overly polite in asking the couple to leave. We are world traveling foodies and each visit to Asheville wouldn’t be complete without a dinner at Rhubarb. A+ establishment, ask for Vanessa as your waitress. She’s nothing short of magnificent.
We had a fabulous dinner on Saturday evening, February 15th, at Rhubarb. Vanessa, our server, was incredibly knowledgeable. We left our food selections in her capable hands as we relied on her insights and she listened intently to what we were looking for and what would most appeal to us. She was right on target with helping us make selections. She was attentive, friendly, and extremely upbeat. We also met the owner, John, who joined us at our table for a brief conversation. He clearly has the highest level of standards for everything about Rhubarb. We will assuredly return and highly recommend Rhubarb for anyone looking for an energetic, lively restaurant with creative & innovative cuisine, and unparalleled service.
Service started off very good, but server was mostly absent after orders were put in. Large gaps between small plate deliveries was disconcerting, especially with lack of server checking back in with us. Food was mostly ok to good, except the mushroom small plate, which tasted like mushrooms smoked over a campfire (in a bad way). I could say worse, but I won’t. We were disappointed...
Extremely overpriced given the quality of the dishes.
Terrible experience. Actually had the manager call me and my girlfriend out for being disrespectful when we have been to a restaurant similar to this every weekend for 5 years that has never said what they said. Shame on them.
Far too expensive for such mediocrity.
My wife and I reserved for Valentine’s Day. We arrived early, went to the bar, and were summoned by our hostess precisely at our reservation time. Rhubarb featured a fixed price menu for Valentines Day, but an alternative menu was available. The fixed price menu had great choices, good wine pairings, so we selected from the menu, but skipped the pairings, and chose a wine from the ample wine list. Food, wine, and service were top notch. A very special and enjoyable evening.
Valentines menu was great. But wanted to highlight our server, Carrie. She was absolutely outstanding and delightful.
We booked our reservation 2 days before the menu changed to this four course Valentine’s Day menu. Which was required. Otherwise we would have not booked this reservation!
The service was great and the dinner was delicious! We opted for the wine pairing for our Valentine's dinner and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the wines. Rhubarb is going to enter our limited list of places to eat.
Very disappointing Valentines Day. We were not informed of the very limited menu prior to sitting down. Felt rushed and industrial. Food was prepared quickly with little seasoning. Felt more like a cafeteria than fine dining.
Excellent restaurant. Food amazing. Service was outstanding! Highly recommend.
Food was delicious, but portions were small. I was still hungry after a $30 dish.
Amazing meal from drinks to salad to entree to dessert! Friendly, first class service. Really neat atmosphere. Heard so much about Rhubarb and was thrilled to finally experience it first hand. Definitely an Asheville gem!
The food was amazing! And the service was genuine and great. I would definitely recommend anyone to go here.
It was "ok" definitely. Very good perhaps by many standards. But Asheville has so many amazing restaurants, why would we settle for just ok?
This was our first time here. The cooking and seasoning was just ok. Not great compared to a local place like Sovereign Remedies.
Small plates are typically ~$12-16 dollars, larger plates $24-30. One member of our party ordered the $24 pork loin that tasted very plain and was an incredibly small portion - the same size as my $14.50 shrimp and grits. The grit cake was also under-seasoned, essentially just a plain grit patty. For the small portions given the relatively high prices, the dishes and seasonings really should be more impressive.
Great location!! Cool menu.
We had the best dinner, delicious food and the staff was so nice and accommodating!
We were in Asheville for a week. Rhubarb was so good we skipped other promising spots to return to here a second time. Love this place!
It'd been a while since I was last at Rhubarb, however as always an excellent dining experience
Loved this place. I'm from out of town and don't know when I'll get back, but ABSOLUTELY WILL RETURN when in town!!!
Post Engagement brunch
Wonderful food and atmosphere. Regardless of the menu, I've had nothing but wonderful meals here. If in doubt, do not miss the wood-fired oven roasted chicken, regardless of style.
Outstanding food & service - delicious& imaginative cocktails too!
Server, Sage, was so personable, friendly, and professional. Every time we eat here I am a little disappointed by the menu - love the local flavors and ingredients but would love to see some lighter offerings that better reflect the Asheville scene and would make dining here much easier as someone who is GF and DF.
We had a wonderful experience and there were many excellent menu options.
This was our second time to eat at Rhubarb and it was even better than the first time, which was excellent. My wife and I had the 3 course special which was outstanding and finished it off with some decaf coffee for an awesome experience. Would highly recommend a visit to Rhubarb!
We come here every once in awhile since parking downtown is a nightmare but when we come we wish we ate here more often. Fun setting , great to see kitchen , very generous portions, delicious everything. I don’t usually eat desserts but ate every bite of my peanut butter delight
Enjoyed a nice meal. Everything was great.
We are so glad that we were able to put Rhubarb on our list of restaurants to try on our recent trip to Asheville. The food was great, and the service friendly. I had never had hominy before, and their spicy, fried hominy appetizer was appealing and tasty. My husband had the wild mushroom cassoulet which he liked so much that I barely got a taste. I tried the hoppin' John which was delicious. For Northerners who wanted to try contemporary Southern cooking, we hit the jackpot with Rhubarb.
