Typically the Benihana-Dulles location is always a great experience. The customer service as soon as you walk through the door when first greeted, to the selection of a preferred table, to the waitor/waitress taking your order, all the way to the drinks being brought out in a timely manner. Typically all of those things are always on point and excellent. Which is why me and my family do not mind driving 50 minutes all the way from washington DC to dine at Benihana-Dulles. In fact, we purposely avoid the Benihana-Bethesda location. Thats how vastly different our experiences are at Dulles vs. Bethesda. But our exeperience the other night at Dulles left a lot to be desired.
When we first arrived there, we was greeted with a warm welcome as usual and then seated. After being seated, the waitor took everyones order and shortly after, the drinks began to arrive at the table.
Here was the first issue, we tried their new dragonfruit margarita drink and my drink and my girlfriend drink was extremely salty. So we had to send those back. The waitor brought us replacement drinks and they tasted a lot better, however, it tasted like straight juice and no alchohol, so we didnt order anymore drinks.
After that, the orders was taken. The chef came to the table and began to confirm the orders and ALL of the orders was wrong. After the chef corrected the orders, she tried to heat the grill and it wouldnt heat up, so we had to wait an additional 15 minutes for her to begin cooking. After that issue was corrected, she began cooking and that was it. She just cooked. There was no performance, no show, no enerngy, no enthusiam, nothing. Just cooked. To make matters worse, the chef at the table next to us was so entertining, we all started watching their chef instead of ours. And to top it all off, it was my daughter and my girlfriends birthday and they was let down by their favorite restaurant dramatically. So, unfortunately, it was not our best experience.
