Bella Monica – A Beloved Italian Trattoria in Raleigh

Since 2000, Bella Monica has been a neighborhood gem, serving authentic Neapolitan cuisine with warm hospitality. Owned by Chef Corbett and Julie Monica, our locally owned trattoria is an extension of Nana’s table, where guests become family.

Our menu features thin-crust flatbreads, housemade pastas, fresh NC seafood, and locally sourced meats, crafted with San Marzano tomatoes and the freshest ingredients. Pair your meal with a selection from our all-Italian, Wine Spectator 2007-2025 award-winning wine list, and don’t leave without trying the best cannoli in Raleigh!

    Let us bring our homemade Italian food to you at your home, office or special event venue. Catering from 10-100 people. Available for staffed, non-staffed, pick up or delivery events. Sundays at our Nana’s house were special. They began when we entered Nana’s house and the smell of the ‘gravy’ simmering on the stove would greet us at the door. Nana would fly out of the kitchen to pinch our cheeks, give us hugs, and lead us to the table full of food saying “mangia, mangia”. Sundays with Nana were days where everything seemed to stop for family and friends; everything except for pasta. Aunts, uncles and cousins would trickle into Nana’s home throughout the day to take their places at the table. The day never seemed to end. We would sit for hours sharing food and laughter with one another. Though the day would begin and end with food, the time spent with our family really made those days special. It is our hope and passion to recreate those long, special Sundays at Nana’s table.

    Our favorite restaurant in the area! Excellent gluten free options with separate menu and they even bring GF focaccia bread to start yum : ) Birthdays are very special here - they write your name on the sidewalk and give you a special dessert! My husband says they have the best tiramisu in the triangle. In addition, their less expensive house wines are excellent- we typically split the 1/2 liter of Montepulciano.

    Well...all I can say is if you need Gluten Free Italian food....this is the place to go. Not all gf pasta is cooked correctly. I also had a side of sausage which was truly Italian sausage. The gravy (sauce) was exactly how I love it...simple chunky marinara sauce.and I was so elated when I discovered I got my own GF menu...lots of choices...and they gave me gf focaccia bread..I never get gf bread ...best of all they offered gf Tiramisu. My husband who is not gf had spaghetti and meatballs and raved about his dish as well....oh and we had house salads...chilled fresh and delicious lemon dressing..the service was spot on! Pleasant indoor and outdoor atmosphere.My new favorite restaurant.

    I went to celebrate my anniversary with my girlfriend, and from the moment we arrived, they made us feel at home. The service was excellent. They congratulated us on the occasion and made it something unique. The food and recommendations we received were incredible. We would definitely go again

     We celebrated my husband’s birthday at his favorite Italian restaurant, Bella, Monica. He absolutely insists that the chicken Parmesan and the gravy they use is the very best anywhere. I enjoyed my usual salmon meal GF and this time I asked for the honey balsamic to be used as opposed to the butter sauce that normally comes with it. Loved it. I really appreciate the fact that they offer a good sized GF menu and that they are willing to adapt as requested.

    Terrific food, especially enjoyed new treat of peach bruschetta fresh from farmers market. The staff is a great attribute, all friendly and smiling, made everyone feel welcome. They worked together well sharing duties, and one young lady led us to the door and held it open as we were leaving and hobbled out

    Eggplant Rollatini was the best Italian meal my wife says she has ever eaten! She raved about this from the first bite to the last and we've eaten Italian food all over the country and in Rome, Milan, Venice, Sienna and Florence. I was not that hungry and had a small pepperoni pizza which was excellent. We would visit Bella Monica whenever we are near Raleigh again.
