   We waited over an hour for our meal with little to no concern from our waiter only to argue with him when the check came because additional items were added to the bill. It was an overall awful experience.

   Service was a little slow. For some reason they were seating, everybody in the bar area and not in the main dining room. Nevertheless, the food was fantastic highly recommend the macadamia mahi, the fish and chips were fantastic as well.

   The waiter assigned to our table was inattentive and forgot to put in 2 of the 4 orders. This meant that two our group of four watched the other two eat! We had to look for our waiter constantly. I am generally a 25% tipper, but not this night. I had the calamari steak and caesar salad and it was good.

   First Time here, found them on open table. Had the bread bowl clam chowder, coconut shrimp, fish tacos, Cobb salad, and sliders for the kids. The food was all great! Great location in the harbor. I love their take on clam chowder, not as creamy but still delicious. Very nice location, happened to be car show Saturday so we had lunch and took a walk on the boardwalk. A nice Saturday morning !

   Everyone in our party enjoyed our food. A huge shout out for the fish and chips. The only fish and chips I've had (and I've tried many restaurants) which had nice, large pieces of fish--not just a huge hunk of batter with a sliver of fish. Very good!

    We ordered clam chowder, Fish and chips and a calamari steak. Tge clam chowder was decent barring the slight sand in rhe soup. Tge fish was not cooked enough, a little underdone in tge I side and the fries were over salted. The calamari was pounded quite thin and overcooked for the thickness. The asparagus was cooked perfectly and coleslaw was a nice pairing. The waiter was young and inexperienced-kept calling us (two women) "guys" everytime we were addressed. He was anxious and brought the bill while we were still eating and drinking. The fact that he was sniffing everytime he walked up didn't help. Train your staff! Tge A

    A perfect place for happy hour beverages & food, the Angus Beef sliders are wonderful. As was the soup & tacos. Cozy ambiance near the roaring fireplace on a cold evening by the sea!

    I ordered halibut and it came out soggy and a funny color. The worst halibut I have ever had. I would have sent it back but we were with a large party and didn’t want to make a fuss .

The Halibut you ordered, as described on the menu was prepared with a parmesan crust with a piccata sauce – butter, lemon, capers and parsley. While most of our guests find this preparation tasty – it is not for everyone. Harpoon’s guarantees your satisfaction with all our items, we would have instantly replaced it if requested. Harpoon's has been in the Harbor for 50 years and has always strived to serve great food with friendly service.

    Came on a Saturday hoping for brunch but found out that’s only Sunday or in patio (patio was closed due to rain). Restaurant actually called us beforehand to confirm we were ok with inside seating since we originally booked patio; service from here through to the server etc were excellent. Food was pretty good - calamari was not the usual but a nice take on calamari with sliced calamari steak nicely breaded and served like a sliced steak. Shrimp Louie salad was nice. Mahi mahi excellent as well. Would look forward to coming back if/when we revisit Dana Point in the future!

    Our waiter was nice, but he really messed up our order in at least 3 ways (wrong food, etc) and never really apologized nor tried to resolve the errors. Overall the service was poor.

    My family came here the day after Christmas. The main dining room didn’t appear to be busy but the bar area was packed. It appears they are short staffed so the service was very slow. Our server Matthew was apologetic and we know it is not his fault bu the very slow service made our experience less than acceptable. It is located in a good location but the restaurant definitely needs some renovations and updating. The restrooms were definitely not serviced for a while because there were paper towels all over the floor and toilet paper supplies needed to be replenished. Food ordered by the table was okay but my mahi mahi was overcooked. Will I be back? Probably not.

    Although we had a reservation at 6:15 PM, we were seated 20 minutes later than our reserved time. The food all came cold. We had a table of 6. Everyone who got Mahi said it was overcooked and cold. My scallops were chewy and cold. The coconut shrimp was cold and soggy. The chef put the asparagus on everyone's plates ON TOP of the french fries, which made the fries all soggy. We were in our table less than an hour, and maybe 5 minutes after we'd received our food, when my sister in law (who had the cioppino) asked for some bread to soak up the soup. Our waiter told us the kitchen was closed (this was 7:30 p.m.). My father then said, "It's bread. I'm sure there's bread in the kitchen that the chef doesn't have to cook." The waiter then said, "I'll have to charge you for it." Like we would find issue with paying a few extra bucks for bread. Then, before we asked for it or even could finish our meals or ask for another drink, let alone order dessert, the waiter brought us our check. We had no advance warning that the restaurant was closing early. Why even bother opening for Christmas dinner if you're going to treat your customers so poorly and offer such poor service and food?
