We've always had a great experience at Rue 127. This last trip we got a very new waiter, who "forgot" to tell my wife that the drum fish he sold us at order taking, was no longer available, so they substituted amberjack WITHOUT telling us in advance. Only when we inquired about the fish not being drum, did he 'fess up and said they switched the fish. This would have been OK if he had told us in advance, but he didn't. We were very displeased with this part of the meal, but overall, we had a very nice evening.

Not impressed New Orleans locals. Very disappointed in the entire dinning experience. Food was cold and the portions were smaller than normal. Drinks took forever. Macaroni was burnt. They comped the dessert for the burnt macaroni but then the coffee was cold after being told it was a fresh pot. We will not be back.

Most of the food was delicious. The pork chop, hangar steak and beet salad were great. However my dish came with a side serving of broccoli rabe which was inedible-tough shoots with stringy leaves. Also my drink, which was supposed to be a Ramos Gin Fizz, had to be sent back. Not sure what was actually in it, but the recipe available online. (Huey Long would not have been happy!)

This had been one of the stops on a food tour I'd done and I wanted to return for a full meal. Things started off a bit "off" - we got there a few minutes before they were scheduled to open. I tried the door, and thought it was locked. After opening time I tried again and it still seemed locked. I didn't realize the handle was locked in place, but the door was, in fact, unlocked (I just needed to pull it open). I'll know better next time. We were the only ones there for most of the dinner - which may have been because it was mid-week. The service was excellent and the food was scrumptious. I will definitely recommend and return.

Bob, our server was pleasant. We had reserved several days in advance, but were seated in a hallway because they were "busy". Food was uneven - shrimp toast and salads were good - but entrees, duck and oxtail pasta were extremely salty.

The food here is great. Like other reviewers, I am confused as to why service is slow. We waited 15 mins for a drink order in the middle of dinner. Our waitress seemed put out and was close to rude more than once. Overall, we got a vibe that the staff think the restaurant is good enough to treat those paying to eat there like they are lucky to get in. We didn’t feel that lucky—a good meal in a city with plenty of places where good meals are available—but not good enough for pretentious serving staff.

The waitstaff, although pleasant, was insufficiently trained. Our table was not set with the proper cutlery. The tables were close enough for us to hear every word of the conversation at the next table. The food was not bad, but neither course was particularly noteworthy.

Although Rue 127 has a quaint ambiance, the food was not good. 3 of us ordered the fish special which was black drum that was supposed to be "lightly fried". When it was served, it was so heavily fried that you could not break through the crust with a fork. One other friend ordered the salmon and it was served basically raw. The boudin balls had a strong flavor as well. Although the butter lettuce salad was good, it needed more items on it for flavor. It was basically butter lettuce and dressing. We loved the service and the wine was good, but we can not give the food a positive recommendation.

We tried Rue 127 as it was near our vacation rental in Nola. And what a gem! Ambiance was warm and cozy; service was very good and attentive but the Star was the food! We had drum fish and roasted chicken both which came with beautiful orientations and unique flavors. Then had deep fried cupcakes for dessert that were outstanding! Such an interesting menu and will definitely return when back in New Orleans.

This restaurant has excellent food. The service is attentive and polite. It may be off the beaten path, but it is delicious and worth the trip. The foie gras bites were wonderful, the celeriac soup to die for and the oxtail pasta a little salty, but wonderful. In all cases I needed my spoon to eat every last bite.

Cozy shotgun with excellent Pacific/Asian influenced dishes. We tried the octopus appetizer which was perfectly grilled and seasoned. The steak and pork chop were tender and spot on in presentation and taste, exactly as ordered. The kitchen and chef are on their game. The service was lacking unfortunately. Our server Brie was far more busy with other tables and clearly annoyed. She came across as condescending and rolled her eyes at us several times. We waited at least 20 minutes to receive our check, and eventually had to ask the hostess for it a second time. While the service lacks, the kitchen makes up for it, and we would return again and recommend.

We have dined at Rue many times. It's a great restaurant. I can't go there without ordering the fried chicken skin snack. I was a tiny bit disappointed in it this time because I didn't think it was fried crispy enough and it was just a bit too salty. We also had the celeriac soup, which was excellent and, it was served at the proper temp. A lot of restaurants these days serve their soups luke warm, at best. This soup was served hot, as it should be. I had the steelhead with winter root vegegables. The fish was cooked perfectly medium rare. The fish was buttery and the skin was very crispy. It was perfect. My companion had the drum with curry sauce. The curry sauce was very tasty. The fish was cooked perfectly -- it was supposed to be fried, but he asked if they could do it without frying it. They did and it was great, except it was just a tad too salty, again. Those are my only complaints and they are minor. The things that were oversalted weren't so salty that you couldn't eat them. It was slight. I love this restaurant. If you don't live in Mid-City, it's probably a hidden gem for you, but go there...and get the sticky toffee pudding for dessert! The service is always excellent and the entire staff are very accommodating. Highly recommended!

Food quality and service were good. Unfortunately portions were tiny except for the entrees. Appetizer n starter less than a mouthful each. Soup - 4 spoonful at best. No bread was served. Since it was New Year’s Eve, understand set menu and price. However, for the price n the occasion, how about party favors or simple decoration to celebrate the new year. Nothing festive at all. Don’t remember anyone wishing us ‘Happy New Year’. We were from out of town so it was a let down!

We've been here several times in the past and something was off this time. It seemed like they were understaffed. We waited 15-20 minutes for the table that was reserved and the bartender had to set up a table for us as there was no host working. Then, once we were seated, there was another 15-20 minute wait for a server to stop by. Then, two stopped by and there seemed to be quite a bit of confusion. They were very apologetic and I don't blame the servers as I think there were only two for the whole restaurant so it was management's problem. Once we ordered, there was another good wait between courses to the point where we weren't really hungry anymore by the time the entrees arrived. The food was not quite as great as usual but was still good, but kind of pricey for entrees. Decent but limited wine list by the glass and a nice atmosphere as usual. Just disappointed in the service.

The dinner was outstanding. We arrived at 5:30 pm and was immediately seated. The wait staffers were very attentive. Everyone enjoyed their meal. We had the flank steak & double cut pork chop. The only thing we didn’t care for was the fry bread. Even the sides were tasty.
