Excellent eatery. Food and service have always been top-notch. Enjoyed the salmon this time and it was cooked to perfection; flaked off the fork. Sad to see this place closing shortly.

We had such a wonderful meal! Everyone loved each dish and the wonderful wines as well. We are just so deeply sorry to see Mockingbird close! We hope to see them in a new location soon! All the best to Chef John Sheely, his sweet wife and wonderful staff!

Love the ambiance of this place and the food was very good. The value however is just not there. Dinner for 2 with only 2 glasses of wine should not be $200+. There simply are too many other options in the Heights with comparable menus that can be enjoyed for a fraction of Mockingbird Bistro. Disappointed also that after making a reservation in advance (for a Sunday) that they sit us on the bench side of the restaurant with little or no privacy from the people 24 inches away. Many other tables were empty so not sure why we were relegated to the area of the restaurant with the least amount of appeal.

So glad we were able to say goodbye to Chef Sheely and staff. Food and drinks were wonderful as always. We'll sorely miss the Mockingbird. Can't wait till we hear Chef Sheely's plans for the next venture.

A little disappointed to be honest. It may be that the place is closing in a couple of weeks since they will not be able to keep the location, but it was somewhat lackluster for the price. The French Onion Soup was nothing to write home about, the duck with grilled cauliflower was quite bland, the beer and wine selections were pretty poor since they had a buyout, the steak tartar was a not finely cut. May have been good in its heyday but not now.

We enjoyed our Family Holiday Dinner out here very much! We only had one glitch...or they did...we took a long time to order as we were visiting...and a large party got their order in before us so our food took awhile. They were great about it and gave us complimentary items to compensate for the extra wait. Otherwise it was a fantastic experience!!!

The food was very good. The service was attentive. But I was upset when after 1.5 hours, we had finished our meal and paid our bill and were still talking yet we were asked twice by the waitress to leave so the table could be opened. I did not like that, at all.

We had a lovely evening celebrating a birthday. The service was personal and the food was delicious. They didn't have a second bottle of the wine we wanted, so they gave us an upgrade for the same lower price of the first one - very generous! We would go back if they weren't closing December 24!

We were very disappointed as this was a place we really enjoyed, the salmon I had was so soft it tasted really bad and the calamari was very hard. The service was also very very slow. Maybe this is because the restaurant is closing soon at this location we were told by the Valet parker? wE WILL LIKELY NOT RETURN FOR A WHILE AFTER THE PLAE RFEOPENS AT A NEW LOCATION.

The seared duck breast was nothing special even though the waitress recommended it over the wagyu. The scallops were just better than average. Sadly, this is it the amazing food I remembered from a previous experience.

Overall enjoyed the dining experience. It was on Thanksgiving and we went for the three course menu and we included the wine pairing. The service was excellent as usual. The staff always does a great job. We enjoyed the wine pairing with the menu items we selected for each course. The appetizers and main courses were excellent. The desserts were a little disappointing and did not stand up to the level of flavor of the first two courses.

We have dined at Mockingbird numerous times: for special occasions, with out-of-town visitors, to treat people and "just because" we wanted to. Regardless of the amount of advance notice, people in our party or reason for coming, the husband/wife team of chef John Sheely and his wife Violeta always make us feel welcome and special, as do their outstanding staff who include Adrian, Rene, Harmony and many others. The seasonal menus are delightfully creative dishes resulting from the influence of French cuisine on local ingredients. Every detail is attended to yet the atmosphere is still convivial and comfortable. We leave every single time raving about something from the incredible handcrafted cocktails to the delicacy of the meat that was served to the inventive dishes that make us wish we were hungry again already so we could just turn around and order it again without having to go home. Yes, Mockingbird is that good - has been and will continue to be. Mockingbird means we're home.

The food was good, the service was not. At first I was giving them some slack because they were fairly full, but half way through the meal the place cleared out. The AC was leaking on my wife so half way through the meal she changed seats and nobody even bothered to ask why? There are better places for the price.

I love the formal yet cozy feeling the restaurant had. The food was amazing and was well worth the price. However one major critique I do have is about the waiting staff. We were seated quickly and we're attended to but once we declined alcoholic drinks the waiter suddenly stopped visiting our table as much and when they did it was very brief. I don't know if they assumed we were just kids or he was genuinely busy but it got annoying pretty quickly.

A wonderful restaurant, great for any special occasion. The staff are friendly and attentive. The restaurant is smaller, which gives you a very personal and intimate dining experience. The food is delicious and well prepared as well as affordable. The special was a Snapper filet on a bed of risotto with crab finger and was absolutely mouth watering. My husband had the seafood pasta, which was also great, but the special was definitely the winner of the two. The crab finger appetizer were very flavorful as well. This restaurant certainly knows how to prepare seafood.

This is a neighborhood gem we have been visiting for over 11 years. Mockingbird Bistro is one of Houston's finest white table cloth restaurants but is neither stuffy nor pretentious. The food is superb, the service spot on, and the wine and cocktail lists are some of the best in the city.

Delicious food. Nice experience. I was a little disappointed that we got a table in a high traffic area, even after making reservations. Valet parking only. The place is lots bigger than it looks.
