   The food was okay and the brunch box was served tapas style . Honestly the service was just beyond slow . You would’ve thought the restaurant was packed and not less than half way filled . Maybe they were understaffed but if this is their normal service standard I won’t be back .

   I've been to Matchbox a number of times. I thought it would be a good go to spot for a friend's birthday lunch, he loves hamburgers and I love salads. There were three of us. Here are my complaints - 1) one burger was way over cooked (maybe the waitress got it wrong because she didn't write down our orders, or maybe the cook got it wrong, either way, unacceptable); 2) On my Opentable reservations I specifically requested the server to bring an after lunch sweet treat for a surprise for the birthday person... this never happened, nor was his birthday ever even acknowledged. Would this deter me from going there again? Probably not, because one can expect an average experience. It would be nice if the staff paid more attention to detail and customer service.

   This has to receive poor ratings for every aspect because the restaurant was unable to fulfill our reservation. We arrived very close to on time, were checked in as they confirmed that they had our reservation information, and then they could not seat us. We waited 30 minutes and with no end to the wait in sight, we left without eating. It seems like making good on people's reservations is one of the cardinal rules for restaurants and this experience was a disaster.

   The new brunch menu was a disappointment. It seems strange that food items and drinks are available either on the brunch menu OR regular lunch menu . For example a mimosa is ONLY available on the Brunch menu and a matchbox mule ( for and extra $10) is only available on Brunch menu Food was high quality as usual and staff was friendly as usual but we felt constrained in lunch choices.

   Service wasn’t that great. Waitress was clearly overwhelmed. Forgot several things we ordered during bottomless brunch. I typically don’t go to this Matchbox because this isn’t the first time I have had a not so pleasant experience at this location.

   Went for brunch and the service was so painfully slow. We had to repeat requests for items several times. Paid $31.50 each for unlimited food and all I got to order was a mediocre cheese pizza and sausage gravy biscuits. The bellinis were really syrupy and also only got two of those in my two-hour visit. The restaurant wasn’t busy but the whole experience was maddening. Matchbox is good for a regular meal but they haven’t figured out the brunch process yet.

   Imaginative selections of pizzas and other fare, great appetizer options and great selection of beer. I've never had a bad service experience, and this location was able to get us in and out in 45 mins, while never feeling rushed. Great spot for lunch or dinner!

    I made the reservation through Open table for 7:15pm for dinner. We arrived at 7pm and were seated at 7:25pm. Busy restaurant. We were seated at a two top table since there was only 2 of us however we were very close to the two top next to us and we all could hear each other’s conversations like we were at the same table. Also, it was difficult to get in between our table and the one right next to us and we both are not big people. Although I noticed most people had ordered pizza and it looked delicious, because we had had pizza the night before we chose to try something else on the menu. We ordered the shrimp and grits. It was delicious! I would recommend this restaurant - definitely get a reservation because it is busy and without it you would need to wait a long time.

    The “service” is awful. It took about 8 minutes before someone came by to offer us water. The waitress appeared five minutes afterwards and we told her we were ready to order. We ordered pizza and pastA. We saw the pizza come out of the oven and sit on the counter for ten minutes. The manager finally picked it up and served it to us and it was barely warm. We told him we have been watching for the last ten minutes to see if that was our pepperoni pizza because it just has been sitting on the countertop for the last ten minutes. We asked to have them put it in the oven to heat it up and he said their policy is just to make another pizza. He said he would put a rush on it. Our waitress, who we had not since we ordered half an hour before, brings the pasta and says she will check on the pizza. The fettuccine Alfredo with chicken was served hot. The second pizza was delivered hot right out of the oven five minutes later. Both entrees were average which is what you would expect from a mass market restaurant. We will not be back to a Matchbox and would not recommend.

    We have been here at least a half dozen times in our travels and always found it to be a great place for a solid meal and drink. After being seated we waited 10 minutes before anyone came to check on us. I asked about the seasonal beer selection of which there were two and she had no idea. Wife's drink was not made as ordered. Finally was allowed to place an appetizer order and it arrived luke warm. We left before ordering as my beer order never arrived. Not sure I will be going back to this place that we always considered a go to when in Chinatown.

    First let me start by stating I am a "particular" foodie with expectations that others may not embrace. The food was okay, but the crab cake I received had something of a 50/50 ratio of crab to filler. Disappointing, as I asked the server whether there was much filler in the dish. But, to her support, she did recommend the shrimp over the crab, as it was her favorite. I passed due to the amount of sodium I perceived would be in Old Bay seasoned shrimp dish. Everyone was receptive and friendly. The service was good as expected. The ambience was quite nice compared to what one would think walking up to the smallish looking storefront structure. I frequent the Matchbox on Rockville Pike in Maryland and was expecting something similar in downtown DC.

    enjoyed the food (wood fired pizza is awesome), paired with a salad. Ambience is great, and service very friendly, responsive. Booked this online without any knowledge of the restaurant, both me and my guest were very pleased!

    I took my youngest son (8 years old) to Matchbox in Chinatown in Washington, DC this past weekend. The wait staff were very friendly to him and he seems to have enjoyed his waffles and scrambled eggs. It was nice to be outside on the Matchbox front patio and enjoy an early 10 AM Saturday brunch.

    The ahi tuna salad I ordered was pretty so-so...mostly greens and tasted like it. My wife had a bacon-oniony burger that was very good. If you go here, maybe stick to their mainstays - pizza and burgers. A bright spot was our server, who was very friendly and extremely attentive.

    My friend and I were looking for a venue where we could have an early light dinner near the National Archives - as well as a good talk. Matchbox fit the bill entirely. We were each able to order (different) salads that came with a tasty and well cooked array of toppings, brought to us by smiling and pleasant wait staff in a corner table in a quiet section of the restaurant. Fully satisfied.

    Nice place and enjoyed the food a lot. Next time in DC would go there again! I was so happy to have made a reservation. When we arrived, there were a few people waiting, but by the time we left, there were quite a number of people waiting for tables.

    Matchbox was great! The portions were huge! The food was delicious! The atmosphere and service were great! We will be going back. Wish we had one closer to where we live! We were visiting DC!
