The experience at Salt is always wonderful. We celebrated our friend's anniversary and they were thrilled to be there.

My wife and I are locals and chose to celebrate our anniversary at Salt, a place we’ve enjoyed in the past for its exceptional food and service. While our recent visit was good, it fell short of the high standard we’ve come to expect—and at this level, that’s disappointing. We were warmly greeted, wished a happy anniversary, and seated at a fantastic table with a beautiful view. The tone was set for a memorable evening. However, our table had several large salt grains on it, including on my charger plate. Not a big deal, but not ideal for a fine dining setting either. Also, I’d love to see real candles instead of battery powered and a tablecloth as the condensation from our drinks was constantly dripping on us. Our server assistant and server were both courteous, though our drinks took about 10 minutes to arrive, which felt slow given the relatively empty dining room. We opted for the tasting menu, which was solid but underwhelming—especially at $195 per person. Presentation lacked creativity: nearly every course was served with a sauce or broth poured tableside, which grew predictable by the third course. Each dish also arrived under a dome, but instead of any aromatic reveal or visual flair, we were left with domes smudged with fingerprints—again, a small but noticeable detail that detracted from the experience. The menu itself leaned classic, with Turkish influences that offered some uniqueness, but most dishes felt safe rather than inspired. The pear dessert was the highlight for me, while my wife decided to substitute her pear dessert with a chocolate soufflé and was a bit remorseful. On the plus side, service was attentive. Our sparkling waters stayed full, and we were treated to complimentary drinks—a nonalcoholic IPA for me and a delicious margarita mocktail for my wife. The evening ended with the classic truffle and macaron plate bearing a “Happy Anniversary” message in chocolate. Overall, the evening was good—but at Salt, we know it can be 5 star.

First time to Amelia Island and all of our friends said if you go, you must go to Salt at the Ritz. The restaurant lived up to its reputation! We had the Halibut and the Sole which were some of the best fish we have ever had. Service by Courtney was excellent! We will definitely be back next time we are in Amelia :)

While a bit on the pricier side, it’s definitely worth it for the excellent food and service. This is a fine dining experience with a great chef. The cocktails are great, too. We had a beautiful table with an ocean view. The staff are very attentive and work so well as a team. They also made a birthday celebration personalized and a real treat!

Our overall experience at Salt was not great. For the price of the chef's dinner, and the reputation of the Ritz, it was a let down. Our server arrived quickly with menus personalized for our birthday celebration which was nice. He took our drink order and we received our drinks no problem. Once we decided to do the chef menu, the first courses also started flowing pretty swiftly. The first course was average for both of us (one of us did not eat tuna, so we got 2 different things). Things started to take a turn for the worse at the second course. It was a well sized lobster claw and half a tail with an emulsion of bisque. Both pieces of the lobster were terribly overcooked, and the bisque was acrid as if something had been burned in the making. Our waiter felt terrible that I had only eaten 2 bites (sampling each piece of over cooked lobster) and spoke with the chef. They brought out an extra course of a wagyu bolognese which was the best thing we ate all night. The next course was a piece of halibut. The flavors were just ok and again, the fish was overcooked. The last of the main courses was a wagyu steak. The steak was cooked perfectly, but unfortunately, the server poured the hollandaise sauce over the steak during the presentation. The sauce was awful and it covered 2/3 of my steak. I ate the steak that was spared from the sauce. Our waiter felt terribly that the runner poured the sauce over the steak at presentation. He offered to replace the steak but at that point we were just done with the experience. The final dessert course was average, a poached pear which was delicious but didn't really pair with the blueberry ice cream. They were both good individually but didn't really go together. We also received birthday macarons and chocolates from our waiter. The whole experience took 2.5 hours and we just left wanting the bar burger we had eaten the night before. The chef/kitchen seemed very inexperienced for the price of the restaurant.
