   We always try to visit this place when we are in the area and recommend it to friends. Our experience with Open Table was not good and we are told by Local Ocean they no longer use it for their reservation system.

   We loved, loved, loved our waiter. And the hostess was awesome. However, given that we had a reservation and had to wait 30-40 minutes past that reservation time, standing around, UGH. That was difficult with a group of 8 and only a few chairs for waiting and them being filled. The food was awesome of course! And, we had our BEST EVER waiter at LO this visit. A super nice guy, who was friendly and funny -- that has not always been the case with prior wait service making you feel unwelcomed -- this was quite different this time and it was really nice! We brought 6 people with us from out of town, and other than the long wait (even though we had reservation) - the night was great and everyone enjoyed the food tremendously and of course, we will continue to bring our out of town guests, but I hope the reservation can actually work out where we can be seated within 10-15 minutes of reservation, not 30-40. THE HOSTESS IS AWESOME. What a great attitude and patience working the front desk! Wow...

   Great food - the specials were interesting and amazing. Attentive and knowledgeable wait staff. Had window seat but it was dark out so couldn't really enjoy the bay view, other that the boat lights, which was nice. Will go back for sure.

   What a wonderful way to celebrate a birthday with family. Thanks to the chefs our great grandson had a real live fire show!!! complete with vocal effects. The food fresh and delicious and attractively served. The wait staff attentive. What is NOT to like about LOCAL OCEAN SEAFOODS!!!

    Local Ocean is one of our favorite places to eat on the Oregon coast. We had beautiful fresh oysters from Yaquina Bay. We also enjoyed their gorgeous entrees featuring fresh fish. The server was attentive and knowledgeable. When we returned for a second night the food was equally delicious but the service was less satisfactory. We sat at the table for about 20 minutes before we were acknowledged by our server. There's nothing worse than watching other customers get their water and greeting when you have been seated before they were seated.

    Chose this restaurant based on high ratings from google, yelp, and trip advisor. Had the oysters (delicious but the priciest out of 5 other places along the PCH/Oregon coast Highway), crab cakes (they were fine; decent size and flavor, breading&mix to crab ratio was okay) and the tuna poke (almost too much citrus and cilantro, but tuna was great). The upstairs seating has charming views of the bay. Environment quiet and server attentive. Hostess seated others without reservations upon arrival, which was mildly annoying bc then the table with the best view was taken despite being on time for the first reservation slot/lunch opening. Heard the entrees were good, would try the crab soup and one crab cake next time instead of two crab cakes.

    The menu uses locally source seafoods. In fact there is a seafood market below the restaurant. The food was tasty pulling out all the “trendy flavors and techniques” with good size portions. However, my food was about tepid. The food had cooled considerably and I place the blame on the waiter. He delivered my husband’s and then close to five minutes went by before my meal was brought. After my food arrived, the waiter never came back to see if we needed anything else. This is really too bad considering this place is not inexpensive. I recommend this place for the food but not the service.

    I live the over two hours away, I also am very picky about my sea food as I live on the coast and fish and crab for myself. This has got to be the best sea food restaurant on the Oregon coast. Our waitress was amazing, my wife and I make this drive numerous times a year just for the food.

    Enjoyed sharing a "big plate fish and chips with fennel coleslaw" and salmon slider appetizer. Surprised by the upstairs seating with a view of the marina docks making the experience more fun. Service was quick and fastidious. Great wine selections.

    We wrapped up our Christmas holiday with a trip to the beach and our favorite fresh seafood restaurant. We usually have a stellar experience, however this time was different. First, our group was seated at a tight table next to the kitchen, which was noisy. We requested to move to a quieter location and were escorted upstairs to bar seating with bar- height chairs. We had our grandmothers with us, who both have knee issues, so bar seating wasn’t a good option. We took the table as It was quieter, however the experience did not meet the quality we made the drive for. The food was great, still, one of our party had to stand halfway through the meal due to the chair height.

    Great lunch, as always. We often get a cup of soup and share an entree plate. There is usually something new to try, the seasonal fish, etc. Everything we've had was great. Perfectly cooked, interesting prep and good seasoning. I recommend the crab soup as a starter. Getting reservations makes the wait for a table much better. There's always a line.

    My wife & I had lunch on Dec. 23& 24th. The service both days from Sander was awesome. We had the Tuna Mignon both days as well as the house salad with shrimp. The smoked salmon mushroom soup & crab cakes were awesome as well. We love Local Oceans.

    We always look forward to our visit to Local Oceans when we are in NewPort. In the beginning when it was a small eatery/fish market, the food was fabulous and so worth the wait, however now that they have upgraded the building the food quality has plummeted. Yes the staff is great and the abiounce is more up scale but they have lost the food quality. I’m sorry to say but not worth the price or the wait.

    Everything we selected for our mid day splurge was delicious. We all cringed as the six year old ordered a cheeseburger , but the kids’ cheese burger was worthy of a burger gourmet, and she loved it. Happy child, happy adult dining experience. Great oysters on the half shell, grilled calamari salad unique to Local Oceans. Grandpa loves the crab, cheese and garlic chowder. Brazilian stew loaded with seafood, and crab cakes loaded with crab. Fennel slaw a flavor treat. No comment on dessert, we have never had room for it at Local Ocean. For our family, Local Ocean is the best for seafood on the Oregon Coast, and our go to with visitors.

    Although LOS is lacking a true coastal comparative clam chowder, it is clear that clams and crab rule the roast. The Roasted Garlic Crab soup has cheese (surprise) and it makes it a little stringy and gummy. Nonetheless, a great experience with a tasty welcome Holiday gift to start the meal, on the house.     We came with a friend to celebrate what would have been her 35th wedding anniversary. Her husband is deceased, but they loved this place, so we bring her for their birthdays and other special occasions. We have always enjoyed the unique menu and everything we have tried has been excellent. The service is great, too... our waiter was very attentive, even though he had many other tables to serve. We also bring our out-of-town visitors here... the food is wonderful and the view is an added bonus.

    I’ve been to Local Ocean at least 10 times and have always RAVED about the food and ambience. This experience had us with very rare steak when ordered Medium rare and far undercooked salmon on both salmon entrees. I was so embarrassed because I brought my friends from Eugene and have told them how amazing this restaurant was and our very expensive dinner fell very flat. DISAPPOINTED is an understatement even with the server giving us half off one entree it didn’t offset the experience

    This is my favorite restaurant anywhere. We drive from Corvallis regularly. The food is always excellent. The service is always great. Our waitress, Joy, was a joy to interact with. Of course, there are other places to eat along the bay, that also have fresh fish and ambiance...... but for my family and friends there is nothing comparable in terms of pleasant experience and absolutely outstanding food.     I've been going to Local Ocean for over a decade--I try to go every time I am in Newport. It's absolutely fantastic and the food is some of the best I've ever had. It's as good as any seafood restaurant anywhere in the world. It's incredibly fresh with the highest quality ingredients. And the dishes are creative and sometimes surprising how ingredients can come together so beautifully. A particular favorite is the salmon skewer salad, which I've had different versions of but all are outstanding. The one we had the other night was Coho salmon with a salad with (among other things) pomegranate, persimmon, walnuts, goat cheese, green onion, and apple. Fantastic!

    Absolutely great meal! Such creative ingredients and pairings. Hardest part was deciding which interesting dishes to order. The location, with a superb view of the docks and fleet is cool any time of the day.

    I’m from New England and used to work in fine dining, so I can be fairly harsh on seafood spots—irrelevant here, as this was easily the best fish and seafood I’ve had in years. The care they take with every ingredient, the precision of the cook on the fish, and their willingness to experiment (well) is truly noteworthy. I’d drive a couple hours out of my way for this place, no joke.

    We’ve gone to Local Oceans several times and usually it’s really great. I think they were having an overall “off” night. The fish tacos were slimy and seemed like they had been under the heat lamp for a while. It took a long time for our server to greet us and take our order, although it looked as if something was going on in the kitchen because we noticed he had other customers sending food back. There were a lot of kids and crying babies but I don’t fault them for that since they can’t control it.
