   I was staying at the Hotel Contessa and the Ambler Restaurant is in the hotel. I booked dinner for 4 and was excited to eat there for two reasons, my birthday celebration and listening to the Mariachi music that was in the bar adjacent to the restaurant. I want to start by saying that the food was excellent! I was more disappointed with the diner type of vibe inside the restaurant along with the service from the waitress staff. The lighting inside the restaurant was the brightest annoying spotlight shinning above our heads I have ever experienced. It was so uncomfortably bright it caused me to get a headache. For a restaurant that claims to be fine dining, the ambience was not. We were not given serving spoons with our appetizers and the waitress did not provide the best service. If you are looking for fine dining experience, do not have dinner there, have a burger at the bar. That was a much better experience. The Burger was fantastic!

   The tortilla chips were really greasy and some were undercooked. The NY strip steak was sub par, especially for the price you pay for it. It was a very cheap cut of steak. The topping to the crème brûlée in one part was actually burned and tasted that way. Very disappointing

   We sat outside under a canopy of trees right on the riverwalk watching the barges go by for Fiesta. The food was really good, the ambience was perfect and chairs had padding and were comfortable to relax in. Our server Froneiseo was WONDERFUL! He made sure we had everything we needed, he was a true professional and probably the best server I've had in a long time. He did not interrupt us he just did what was needed. Hope the Ambler knows how good he is. Overall will definitely go back to the restaurant. Its a gem hiding in plain site.

   I would not say the noise level was "energetic". It was LOUD! So loud we didn't really enjoy our dining experience. Plus they sat us right by the back door to the patio and when anyone would walk through it, it would slam, and it was chilly outside so a big gust of cold would come in every time someone passed through. We will not go back. It was just meh. Food was good and our server was good but nothing stood out as being exceptional.

   Great experience right on the river walk. Greta service as well. Highly recommend the snapper, or steak (any cut). Drinks are a bit over priced though. Overall great experience.

    I was pleasantly surprised with the place, food taste and ability to acomódate our party of 10. Intimate feel, not overcrowded restaurant with nice view of river walk. The only thing we were disappointed was crème brûlée, otherwise excellent meal. Our server, Mateo, had our interest in mind and made recommendations that helped and improved our experience.
