We went to Mud Hen Tavern to have another final experience before they close. We had been to Street before Mud Hen Tavern and celebrated the Jewish holidays these past years. We await the next culinary adventure! Thank you!

The food was great, however, although we had a lovely waitress, our service was extremely slow. The restaurants is not that big and it wasn't overly busy, so a quick acknowledgement that the service was slow would have been a nice touch. If it wasn't closing, I would probably return for special occasions (e.g., brunch, dinner, etc.)

The owner came around to every table to say hello and make recommendations. She made us feel especially welcome, as did the whole staff. Despite a lot of sound, we still had no trouble hearing each other. The atmosphere is intimate and casual at the same time -- a great combo!

I don't normally complain on forums like this, but my experience needs to be noted. I was meeting two friends and had made a reservation for 3 at 8PM. I arrived a few minutes early to check in and informed the hostess that I'd be at the bar until my reservation time, and inquired if we'd have to wait until the entire party was seated and was told "NO." A few minutes after 8, I was still waiting on my friends to arrive and went to the hostess station and asked about my reservation since I wanted to sit and wait for them. No tables were available yet so I returned to the bar. One of my friends showed up a few minutes later (now pushing 8:20) and we were taken to a table that was set for 6, which they tried to break off into a 4 top that would ultimately seat 5 and a 2 top for me and my two friends (I'm the smallest at 6'0, 190 lbs). That was flatly rejected. We were then told no other tables were available, so I kindly said we'd loiter until my third friend arrived. He made it in around 8:30 and still no tables were available. We were ushered to a two top by the bar and told to hang out until a table came up. Hardly even an apology to this point mind you. Why did I bother making a reservation again? Finally at 8:45 we were sent to the back table and seated somewhat rudely (I guess my standing around and glaring didn't sit well with the hostess) and proceeded to wait 15 additional minutes for a server to greet us and take our initial drink order. We actually contemplating leaving but stuck it out and were finally greeted by our server who did her best to quell the situation but the damage had been done. Drinks came out incredibly slowly all night (we were drinking beer!), we ordered an appetizer and then dinner a few minutes later and everything came out within 90 seconds of each other (one of my huge pet peeves) and the food was good, not great. She did bring us a free appetizer but it was a very disappointing evening. Not sure if I'll be back, sadly.

We had a very enjoyable evening thanks to the excellent service. The fish and chips were outstanding. Also had the tuna and heirloom tomatoes and burrata. Both good but could have been better--too heavy hand with the dressing.

I've enjoyed every visit. One small nit-pik; choosing the pretty patio to avoid the noise of the bar area only to discover the sound level of the music just high enough to shatter the otherwise tranquil outdoor setting, and which intrudes into quiet conversation between dining companions.

I've eaten here many times and always enjoy it. This visit was a little disappointing. The deviled eggs were good but a little heavy on the mint pesto topping. The Brussels sprouts were by far the best thing we had and probably one of the best dishes I've had anywhere in some time. I had the Korean steak frites. The steak was tasty, but a little salty. The kim chi fries were a bit heavy and creamy for my taste and I couldn't even eat half of them. Perhaps a little less frites and more steak. My boyfriend had the beer can chicken and I must say it was sadly unimpressive. A little greasy and bland. The potato cake that came with it was good but cold. Not certain if that was by design but was a bit of a miss. Overall, I recommend this place always. Even if a dish or two is a little off, it's still better than most.

Really enjoyed going to this place! My friend heard of this place through a radio host and decided to try it out before going to the Hollywood Bowl. Food was good, although my friend's salmon was undercooked, but we enjoyed the risotto and asparagus that accompanied it! Would definitely try again and order different things!

I missed the boat on eating at Mud Hen when it was at it's peak. It's evolved to being a neighborhood restaurant. There was nothing spectacular about the food. Got the spaghetti squash puttanesca and the bean fritters. Good but not amazing.

Susan Feniger continues her winning streak. Though I miss Street, Mud Hen's previous incarnation, if you ask nicely they will make you the amazing kaya toast. We were a group of 4 and had several small plates, glasses of wine, and mains...all were good. Rare means rare here, so if you order Steak Frites...be sure you want bloody.

At first I was put off by the fact that staff was inattentive. It took awhile to get staff's attention and get seated, and an even longer while before our order was taken. But once that rocky start was behind us I enjoyed the meal. The food was outstanding, and the service got better once the food started arriving. I would definitely go back if we were in the neighborhood.
