Vespaio Restaurant is one of the original South Congress eateries and remains one of Austin's favorite Italian go-to's among locals and visitors. This casual dinner venue is a popular choice for date nights or evenings out with friends, seating every day at 5pm. The interior of Vespaio Restaurant is decorated with ceiling tiles, ceiling plans, vintage pendant lighting, classic table seating, a plethora of wine racks and vibrant accent walls.In addition to a full bar menu, Vespaio Restaurant offers a lengthy selection of mouth-watering and flavorful authentic Italian dishes.     We had a great meal at Vespaio. The staff were friendly and professional and the food was delicious. It was full the entire time we were there, so the noise level was on the high side, but everyone was clearly enjoying themselves. We had Caesar salad, the daily special risotto (lamb with green beans and mushrooms) and it was wonderful, lasagna, and tiramisu. Excellent!

    Food excellent. Service equally so. Rosemary was a pleasant, attentive server. Food portions could be a bit smaller, especially the lasagna entree. It was delicious but could have fed 2 people. Lastly, the noise was a bit much for table conversation, but that appears to be because of the hardwood floors and walls. Acoustics could be improved. Nevertheless, a great restaurant and a wonderful experience.

    I absolutely love this place! My waiter Sam was awesome. We did have one miscommunication between t stuff happens. I sat up in the curved wall area and the loud voices also seated in that are was magnified. I’m not disappointed and plan to go back soon!

    What a treat! I don't live in Austin and while I have heard about this place for years, since I stay downtown I generally eat downtown. I'm thrilled everything downtown was filled. The cacio e pepe was served with the whole egg yolk on top allowing me to mix it in. The lasagna noodles were just chewy enough and served with a rich Bolognese. The sea bass perfect. Couple that with outstanding service beginning with the manager coming out to greet us, the guy who took care of my unsteady chair and the somm who served up a perfect wine. I will visit the South Congress gem again soon.
