At The White Horse Tavern we strive to create a fresh, contemporary dining experience in America’s Oldest Restaurant.

Proper Dress Required; Business Casual is appropriate. Jackets are not required. Please no athletic wear.

Reservations are recommended to be made 2 to 4 weeks prior to your preferred dining date and time.
For parties of 5 to 8 Guests please call the Tavern directly at 401-849-3600.
Please note any allergies or special requests when making your reservation or any restrictions with stairs.
Specific tables may be requested however we are unable to guarantee requests.

    SO AMAZING!!!! I had a special of lobster tail and it was so good!! My mom got the beef Wellington for the second time and loves it and my brother got the smoked salmon and loved it!! I recommend the LOBSTER BISQUE!!!!!! GET IT!!!! SO GOOD! GO HERE!!!!!!!!

    Everything was AMAZING! We had the beef Wellington and it was absolute perfection! My friend had the swordfish and she raved about it too! Our server was A++ as well! We will definitely be back again!

    Everything was exceptional! Anyone planning a visit to Newport, especially those with a passion for American history, this place, the oldest operating tavern since the 17th century, truly makes you feel as though you’ve been transported to another time. Don’t leave Newport without a visit here!

    The food was delicious. I really enjoyed beef Wellington. Air condition plus free parking. We were seated right away with our reservation. Brittany service was great. She was very attentive.

    We love historical places so this was a win from the start. But our waiter was outstanding as were the oysters and scallops! Our blackened swordfish was a bit dry, but everything else was amazing. Would both recommend and return.

    It was a treat to eat in the oldest tavern in the US! There is a sheet at the front outlining the history back to 1690 or so. Service was quite good and the ambiance was lovely. We were in a little side room upstairs and it was quiet and pleasant. Only 4 stars because my duck confit, which our server had recommended, seemed to me overcooked and lacking flavor. The white beans that came with it were quite plain. Crème brûlée also not much flavor … crust was very nice though. My companion loved her steak frites and her dessert though. Overall we had a nice dinner which we will remember. But food was not 5 star, at least for me.
