Shanghai Terrace offers Chinese cuisine highlighting contemporary interpretations of Shanghainese, Cantonese, and Sichuanese classics. A Private Dining Room is available to reserve for up to 30 guests while The Main Dining Room offers a seductive 1930’s Shanghai eatery-inspired atmosphere decorated in tones of ebony, gold and scarlet. In warmer weather, additional seating is provided on The Terrace, an urban garden with spectacular skyline views that allows diners to experience the magic of summertime in Chicago. In cooler months when The Terrace is not available, additional seating is provided in The Lobby – a soaring, majestic room with floor to ceiling windows, towering ceilings, and elegant chandeliers. Please be sure to indicate your preference when reserving your table.

Please note, last orders will be taken at 9 pm on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday, and 9:30 pm on Friday and Saturday.

Beautiful patio setting with impeccable service and delicious food. The lobster dumplings were flavorful , the hot & sour soup perfectly balanced. The 1/2 duck was plenty for 2 of us to share with a second dish of scallops with black truffles. The mango pudding was more like a panna cotta, tart and light. The final touch was small almond cookies that ended the meal perfectly. We will be back on our next Chicago trip.

Fantastic dinner as always! We sat outside on the patio and there was a nice breeze. Service was great and food outstanding.

Gorgeous food in a lovely ambience outside on the terrace. Attentive friendly service and great wines. Second time here (first was 15 years ago) and it was as good this time as it was then! Cannot speak highly enough of the overall experience.

The staff were wonderful and the atmosphere quite nice. My favorite part of the meal was dessert. It was one of the best I’ve ever had. A mango tapioca with coconut cream. Glad we ended on that dish. The pork dim sum, veggie stir fry, and beef tenderloin were very good. We had an appetizer with puffed rice (messy) that we wouldn’t recommend. The tofu was rather hard and it seemed like there was an element missing, maybe a sauce, that could have brought the flavors together. I’m glad we tried it.

Wonderful service and incredible food. The staff is extremely helpful, attentive, and kind - especially our primary server Elmir. He gave us great recommendations and made us feel welcome and comfortable. Overall an excellent experience.
