From the owner of David's (Portland, ME), 388 is a comfortable and casual neighborhood nook where diners can enjoy a range of bold flavors. Both restaurants share the signature of Chef/Owner David Turin, and David's 388 is built "by the Chef, for the Chef." Every week, David's 388 thrills the palette with new dishes that have both creative and traditional influences spanning the width of the globe. We decided to come here for our anniversary since we’ve had two positive experiences before. This was by far the worst meal either of us have had. The food was bland with little to no flavor, and my husband’s portions were probably a third of my meal. Our server was wonderful though.

All four of us enjoyed our meals and cocktails. Our server, Jack, was the perfect amount of attentive and not pushy. Always a great experience.

Exceptional food. We started with the eggplant appetizer, which was a generous portion, easily shared by two. My wife then had the risotto with vegetables which was extraordinary. I had the duck main course, which was also quite extraordinary. Our service was excellent. Matthew was extremely attentive and entertaining. Certainly well worth the price of dinner. We will certainly be returning.

Too much garlic in most of the entrees and salads My wife is intolerent. By the time they took out all parts of her salad that had garlic, there was not much left. They could have offered to add some vegetable to the salad that was garlic free, but they didn't Apparently, most of their ingredients, including bread is prepped with garlic

Great variety of smallish but sufficient plates, apps, and deserts. Excellent wine and drink choices. Love the After D espresso martini for dessert. Menu changes and keeps everything fresh for return dinners.

The food is always terrific @ David’s 388. The staff is the best. Chef’s Makayla, Ian & Eli cook some really good food. Service from Lexi, Jack & Riley is great!

I have dined many times here. Last night was not good. This place needs a manager and/or expediter. We watched as another waiter took all the available bread to tables which were seated after us. Our bread came after the entrees. One of our party was served the wrong entree. We were told he would receive the correct one on the house yet it still appeared on our bill. The food took too long to come out and the vegetables were cold. The portions were small. Again they need a manager. The vibe felt very cutthroat among the waitstaff. We were seated at a table next to the glass drying rack despite there being better empty tables available. Overall a bad experience.

Great food and the vegan & pescatarian options were much appreciated and up to the same standards as the rest of the menu. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

We regularly dine at David’s 388 and have never been disappointed. The food and service are always excellent, with the added benefit of being reasonably priced.
