   Mr flamboyant and his partners have created a great venue of excellent food and servers that are the best conversationalists informers in the business. We had a great experience and I highly recommend this business. Tasty food, great service.

   The food, service, everything was amazing! A wonderful dining experience from cocktails to every single food item we shared… and we shared a lot! The background music sounded very nice, but with a large group who hadn’t seen each other in a while, and wanted to talk, it was a bit loud and made it hard to hear each other.

   We love Herb & Wood! The food is amazing. The atmosphere is sexy 50s private club with a modern edge vibe, and the wait staff is friendly, accommodating and well versed in the menu. Try the new gin and yogurt drink . . . trust me you will love it. Also, always save room for dessert. Their soufflés are chef’s kiss! Thanks for taking care of us Scott!

   This was the first time we have been there. We ordered the ricoletta pizza as appetizer which was good. One of us ordered the Buccatini but did not eat it because the clams were chewy and the pasta did not taste well either. Not sure if we will go back.

    This was our first time dining at Herb & wood. We were celebrating 2 birthdays & had a great time. It was noisier than we’d expected, but that’s because there were so many young people having fun. Our service was phenomenal - Dean was our server. He made spot-on recommendations, & checked on us often.

    We have been wanting to dine here for quite some time and we are so happy that we went! It was an amazingly good experience. We had delectable appetizers (bone marrow and oysters) as well as Hamachi - both recommended by our super-stellar waiter, Lukas! Lukas deserves special accolades for being one of the best waiters we have had in the San Diego area. His passion for the food, great service and attention to the four of us was unsurpassed. Our entrees were fantastic as well (beef cheeks, Wagyu steak, Branzino and Filet). We will be back soon!

    Thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Very busy restaurant with great service. Varied menu with many choices. The only recommendation would be to work on the noise level which made conversation difficult.

    I wasn’t a fan of Herb & Wood and wouldn’t come back. We came here to celebrate my graduation and I just wasn’t impressed by the food. :/ We ordered the trumpet mushrooms, fire roasted oysters and bone marrow, and the roasted beet salad. I was the most excited for the oysters and bone marrow and it was so drenched in butter and salt and sauce it was hard to swallow! I’m surprised there were so many good reviews.     10/10 experience! The food was amazing and we got to meet and talk with Chef Brian Malarkey himself, who truly is such an amazing person. I’ve never seen a restaurant run so smoothly with such timely service! Everything here is on point and the ambiance is incredible! We will be back!

    I really enjoyed my first trip to this restaurant. By far, the highlight was the service. Everyone I encountered was so kind, helpful and friendly. I also enjoyed my meal. I ordered the roasted oysters appetizer and the filet with a side of mushrooms. I wish the mushroom stems on the biggest mushrooms are a bit more tender, but they were overall still very delicious. I will say, that was not a low calorie meal. So much butter and oil. Tasty, but noteworthy of that's a concern for you. The decor and ambiance were another highlight! The restaurant was so beautiful, especially the outdoor courtyard area that I could see a bit of from indoors. If I were to return, if definitely request a table out there.

    Great cocktails and amazing food! Got the tequila chai cocktail and it was immaculate. The food is very rich but the wood fire pizzas are really a standout on the menu. Love coming here but it is often quite busy and therefore also pretty noisy but the experience is worth it!

    This is truly a special restaurant. The food was beyond excellent. 2 in our party had the brinzini and one had gnocchi. Only negative was the server had little attention to us. Other, younger people had much better service. Interesting! Overall, we would highly recommend this restaurant for any special occasion.

    I usually love herb and wood. The server was excellent. The new chef was not great in my opinion. I had an expensive steak and it came on a bed of endive. The crab better was not good. It looked like he had thrown the steak on wilted greens. Big disappointment. This use to be my go to restaurant when I had guests in town. Back to Juniper and Ivy for special occasions. Maybe I’ll try it again in six months. It was $250 dollars and it was lousy. Too bad for sure. Atmosphere is always fun but at that price the food should be great and lousy

    The crudo and roasted branzino were outstanding, as was the raspberry souffle. Moderate prices for such high quality food. Service outstanding. Double valet parking makes this one of the easier restaurants to attend. Ron Mix

    Beet salad was amazing. We ordered the steak for two and didn't ask the price, big mistake. It was 170 and not good quality meat, thought it would have been 125 but for that price not worth it. Steak was tasteless and very grisly, but the sauce was good. Great service but beware of over paying for a medicore ribeye.

    H&W is definitely one of our go-to's. Chef Malarkey and his staff have an extraordinary sense of how flavors work together and we always find fabulous surprises on the menu. We repeated on the oxtail gnocchi because it is just so darn good, as was the beef cheek. And the goat cheese appetizer was fabulous, but the venison tartare stole the show. Brilliant and balanced. We were blown away. And I experimented with my cocktail--who know that mezcal beet could be that good? Another great dinner at H&W. Thank you again!
