   Great food, great service, all in a beautiful building. 100/10 I got the Salmon and it had the lightest notes of honey that counteracted the tang of the shishito peppers the dish was paired with. My fiancé got the Ribeye which was cooked to perfection and was gently laid on top of a sweetened cauliflower purée. Make sure to complete the meal with one of their delicious deserts.

   We were seated outside (backyard) and were happy about this. Inside the restaurant looks great and stylish but is packed and very, very loud. The noise level made it difficult to have a conversation without screaming on each other. Dinner was well prepared and good. It was also nice that we received a bread service while waiting for our starter. Service was friendly and attentive. Price was high, but this seems to be Charleston standard. The restaurant also offers to leave a kitchen tip on top of the tip for the waiter. I hope, this is not to cover for low salaries for the kitchen staff. We did not want to cut the tip for our excellent waiter and added something for the kitchen team. In the end this made the evening even more expensive.

   Excellent food, very limited menu options Food: Excellent food, but due to the very limited menu options, especially for main dishes, you have to compromise with the selection, but regardless, you will not be disappointed with whatever you end ordering. - Appetizers: The Beef Tartar is truly a masterpiece. The Pork Belly and Grit is perfectly executed, very hard to complete. Just amazing. The Chorizo meatball is very good. - Entrée/main dishes: due to lack of our favorite items, we compromised with pasta dishes, but we were not disappointed. The Casio e Pepe is one of a kind and very hard to get outside Italy. I highly recommend it to try for those seeking this dish. Simple but, tasty. The Ravioli is good (potato filled), but with the addition of the Italian sausage, made this dish excellent - Desserts: key lime taste is wonderful especially with the addition of the toasted coconut sorbet Drinks: excellent cocktails. I recommend the High Wire. The Blossom is wonderful too. The Chai Old Fashioned is just OK. Service: Courteous, friendly, and very helpful. Very fast service from the waiting staff and the kitchen Ambience/atmosphere: Beautiful establishment in a former church. Unique and elegant. Busy, little bit crowded… slightly low, otherwise very nice to dinner out. Not necessarily on a special occasion or celebration. Value: The cocktails are expensive ($14-16 each). Quality of is optimum, priced accordingly. Overall rating: 5 all the way (out of 5) Recommendations: I highly (very highly recommend it) over the next door -sister restaurant “The Awful Tempest”. You will not be disappointed with “Church and Union”.

    Came here for a Saturday brunch. There were several errors made throughout our visit with food and service. Cool digs overall, but you're there for the looks of it. If you want good food and good service, C&U may not be the place.

    We enjoyed our experience at Church and Union..such a unique ambiance. Our food was delicious. I loved the homemade ravioli! My husband’s steak was cooked more than requested and the manager had them recook. The service was great!

    I read a blogger's review and was so excited and looked forward to coming here for my birthday dinner. The photos looked spectacular! But when I arrived, we were seated in the left side of the room, so we didn't get the experience of dining in the room where the bar was with the amazing ceiling, grand cathedral glass windows. Our food was not great. The recommended item and dessert was not even on the menu. Before leaving, I asked the girls if we could walk to the bar area to see the giant windows and take a picture, basically to take in the architecture, which was the main reason why I chose the restaurant for my birthday dinner. The room was roped off and we were informed that it was closed for a private event, but if we wanted to, we could just pop our head in sideways to see it. Overall a huge disappointment. Over priced for OK food and we left feeling cheated and disappointed for not having the highly anticipated amazing experience we read about. I assume they just change their menus often, which may be why we didn't see the recommended food and desserts. But if the food was gonna be bleh, I feel like it should have been made up with an amazing dining experience, but it completely fell short in every level.

    This was our favorite restaurant we dined at in Charleston. The meal started with a spicy hummus and chips. I don’t usually like hummus, but this hummus has changed my mind. I had the Cacio E Pepe and my husband had the filet. The pasta was fresh and cheesy and my husbands steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Everything was so good, we had to have dessert. We enjoyed the white chocolate cheesecake. When we got return to Charleston we will be returning to Church & Union!

    Good Afternoon, I would like to let the restaurant know how spectacular the service was and how incredible of an experience this turned out to be… whoever the manager was there treated us spectacularly and I would love for it to be relayed back to him… the experience was absolutely amazing and I couldn’t say enough nice things about this restaurant!!

    Nice atmosphere, good food, friendly staff. What else can I say? Note: our reservation was for the patio, but we stayed in the main building that you see in the pictures. You must seat there. We visited the patio and I wouldn't recommend it.

    We were able to be seated right away which was lucky considering it was st patricks day. We ordered the filet medium and it came well done. The shmear was really good the hummus app was amazing. Not a bad experience just not the greatest

    Food experience does not match the trendy atmosphere. We were so much looking forward to dinner at CU. Great location in the historic Charleston district. The old renovated Christian church converted to a hip restaurant has cool upscale vibes, although not sure i get the "Art of War" (5th-century BCE chinese military strategy book) intertwined theme here, but I guess interior decorators - thought it would be a cool talking point. For appetizers we ordered the butternut and sweet potato bisque, and chorizo meatballs. Soup was sent back immediately (manager never came by), meatballs were decent. For our main entrees we ordered; CU burger, South salmon, and Braided ravioli. Salmon was served cold and dish sides tasted bland. The ravioli was not al-dente and consistency was doughy/mushy. Believe-it-or-not the best entree was the Burger! Service was also lacking 😒 which made the experience feel even more lackluster. This place has so much potential because of ambience but way over-priced for the food experience that one might be hoping for.

    I love this restaurant. The food is wonderful. They have a great wine list and the main dining room is stunning! Our experience was even more enhanced by the service provided by Alfranee. His charm and attention to detail made our night. Will def be going back here!
