Sorry to say this but the service was spectacularly poor. Had a waiter who had mastered the art of not really caring and then demonstrating that in a wonderful lack of concern for serving our table. Is a bit of a pity as I've often been to Mango Tree locations in Manila and Bangkok and have alwsys exprrienced great service - was really surprised the DC location fell far short on this front.

Menu significantly scaled down from last visit. We were told a couple of items, from new limited menu, were not available that night. Shrimp cakes were questionable, either in the way they were seasoned or their freshness. Would not recommend. Overall disappointing.

A fun date night spot for more adventurous foodies. Menu was very well priced for the level of cousins and the cocktail menu was delicious and unique. Our waitress was a little over attentive, but that was likely due to it being a slow weeknight.

Second time eating here. The service was better and faster than the first time. The food remains lackluster for a restaurant in City Center. Would like to see more variety in the menu. Not necessarily a foodie restaurant, but an okay spot for a drink at the bar or for apps.

When I walked in there was no host at the entrance. It took us 15 minutes to be seated. Prior to being seated, the host struggled to find our reservation and simply told me I did not have one, instead of confirming the spelling of the last name. I even showed him my reservation via phone and he struggled. Eventually he realized he was making a spelling error and found the reservation. It took us 15 more minutes after being seated to her water and be acknowledged by a waiter. The food and drinks were delicious, but I was disappointed in the service. Especially since it was a quiet Tuesday evening.

Very slow service both to order and get our check as well as to receive the food. The crab sliders seemed like they used crab filler. The preparation of the salmon dish could have been improved.

Went late, around 9PM, after a movie because my date and I were craving Thai. Place was dead, maybe two tables upstairs, both of which were either finished or getting their food when we were sat. Sit but it took over 10-15 minutes before someone greeted out table. We go to order, my date orders his app and main, I order mine, only to find out my first and second choices were no longer available. Information the hostess could have shared when seating us, but didn't, showing that the back and front of the house are not talking/working together causing us to seriously debate leaving. Kudos to the waiter who stepped up and told me about a different beef dish, since my two other options were on vacation, and it sounded good so we ordered. We did not order drinks. The only saving grace was the food. Everything came out hot, fresh, and tasted delicious. It was the service that made me rate them poorly. And I'm not talking about the waiter, but the entire staff, since running a restaurant is a team sport. The manager on the floor was more focused on making tables pretty, empty tables, than jumping in and making sure actual guests who were there to eat were being taken care of. Would I go back? Maybe, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again. Yes the food was delicious, but also over priced for Thai, and with service being what it was there are too many other cheaper and better staffed Thai restaurants a short Uber ride away to make me eat here again.

I have eaten at Mango Tree twice now. The quality has decreased significantly over the past few months. The menu is limited by design. The dishes I tasted on my most recent visit were relatively flavorless and uninspiring. While not extremely expensive by Washington, DC standards, the meal was not worth the money spent. The service was good but did not make up for the food.

Phenomenal drinks and good food. But the service was horrendous. We were not greeted by anyone for 10 minutes at the downstairs bar that was half full. We were then told that, even though the bar wasn't full, and acknowledging the fact that they had high top service, all patrons had to order from the bar. Ok, fine. We were told that bar upstairs had high top service, so we went there. Same problem, but this time the bar was a bit more crowded. Another 10 minutes before we were acknowledged, and the bartender was rude and dismissive. What he lacked in customer service, though, he almost made up in his drinks. They were top 5 drinks I've ever had. Too bad he never came back to ask how they were or whether we wanted another round. Although we wanted to order more food and drinks, the bartender never even looked in our direction, let alone speak with us, so after about 10 minutes of trying to get his attention for the check, we just left him cash that I assume covered the bill.

The service was very efficient and pleasant, which is important for a business lunch. My only real complaint was on the food, specifically the crispy chicken. The chicken and it's coating was soggy and it seemed like it should have come with rice or something. The green curry was good (could have been a little heavier on the chicken or eggplant in it, but the flavor was great) and the papaya salad was excellent. Overall though, the food is pretty good and it's a beautiful restaurant.

The waiter left my date and I alone for over an hour after we were done eating. It was a first date, so flagging him down for the check was awkward, but after an hour (without getting drink refills) we had run out of conversation. We were literally his only table, but nobody came by to check on us, offer us coffee, dessert, the check, etc. It made the end of the date much worse. The waiter had even put on cleaning gloves to clean the bar, completely ignoring us. The food was good, but the service was atrocious because of that.

The restaurant was empty at 7 pm on a Sat. They ran out of coconut milk so they didn't have soup. What Thai restaurant doesn't have coconut milk. I ordered Thai ice tea and reminded my waiter twice but never received it. I ordered crispy Basel chicken. There was no Basel and no sauce. Picture general Tso chicken. Poor service poor quality way over priced for take out chicken.

I had high hopes for this place. The restaurant/bar area are cute w/a great ambiance. It was a nice out so we were able to sit outside. The waiter was attentive in the beginning but saw him less frequently as the night wore on. It only went downhill. We order the brussel sprouts as an appetizer and they brought out the spring rolls. We didn't even have an inquiry as to the spring rolls so how this order was put in wrong is baffling. We mentioned it to the waiter and he said to keep them, that they were on him. That would have been great except it took over 30 minutes to get the brussel sprouts. When we inquired as to where they were he stated a large group had just put in their order and we were after them. Considering this was the waiters mistake you would think the kitchen could put in one tables appetizer order before the large group. Then before the main dishes came out the waiter took a mixed drink order. 20+ minutes went by and we still didn't have the drink. By that time the entrees had arrived and we were now running up against the clock (as we were seeing a show at Verizon Center). Again, the order was put in incorrectly. We ordered the pineapple fried rice & vegetable fried rice but a vegetable stir fry came out with the pineapple fried rice. This I could see being misunderstood but at this point we could not even return the meal as we would not have made the show, as everything had taken much longer than expected. We had to cancel the mixed drink order since we would have been done eating before it came out. When the bill came it had both entrees on it but a wine orders and the appetizer weren't put in so price wise it was about the same had we not been charged for the entree. But when the charge to our cards had come to sign there were actually two charges: the one above and then one for the brussel sprouts! I have never seen this before. It is a shame as the food was good & it was a very cute place but the service was just awful.

My friend and I both ordered the beef curry. The waiter told us it was slow cooked for hours, very tender. When the meal arrived it smelled delicious! However... the pieces of beef on the top were filled with gristle and fat!! We sent it back. No way, we said, how could that even be an option, can't even chew it, and that is unhealthy too. The manager came over and said she totally understood. Some people actually like that, we couldn't believe it. But she was nice and just swapped in the veggie rice for us. The rice/vegetable dish was amazing. So delicious. So, our situation ended well but I'm not sure I'll be rushing back to Mango Tree for my next fun lunch.

Disappointed that they no longer have spicy calamari, but the whole fish was good, if slightly oily. Our waiter wasn't fully knowledgeable about either the bar or food menu (didn't know what Bailey's was & also said there were green beans in the drunken noodles rather than asparagus), but it may have been a language issue. It was still a good dining experience.

We had dinner at Mango Tree. We ordered starters and entrees, and shared them - they arrived after only a short wait, and they were hot and delicious! It was all very good. After dinner, one of the party ordered the ice cream dessert. For whatever reason, the dessert took 20+ minutes to arrive. We ended up cancelling the order. The long wait for dessert was a disappointing end to an otherwise enjoyable experience

Let me start with the good. The chicken satay was delicious and the ice-cream trio (coffee, green tea, and thai iced tea) flavors were amazing. And now the bad... What was not amazing was the food. I don't know if it is because of restaurant week, but it was NOT busy at all. For the salmon larb, it was all cilantro, lime juice, and shallots with a few bits of salmon. The salmon was slightly cooked on the outside and raw on the inside, which gave it a weird texture. I would not recommend this dish. The lobster pad thai was super salty and quite the worst tasting pad thai I've ever had. There were little dried shrimp and dried or friend tofu pieces that weren't complementary to the dish. There was so much sauce that it made the dish look horribly brown. Nothing was green on the plate, no bean sprouts, no green onion, but there was a lime. The good notes about this dish was the presentation of the lobster and the egg. At least those two components were delicious. The spicy siam cocktail was not spicy at all and more like a mango juice instead. There was barely any alcohol. My sister and I left the restaurant thirsty, disappointed and certain to never to return again. The value and service just isn't there to justify the ridiculous prices. Except for maybe the thai ice tea ice-cream.

Overly Americanized food, not authentic at all, fork & knife are presented instead of fork & spoon/chop sticks for a typical Thai restaurant as spoon is so important for Thai food to get the sauce to eat with the jasmine rice . Meat were not cut to thin slices but as a chunky steak, but no steak knife is offered nor available.
