   too many things going on at once and not enough staff- some comedy thing had half the place shut off- everyone sitting on the left had a basketball game, loud music and a trivia game all at once. Food is ok, small portions and the hot chicken is not "hot" as in spicy. The burger patty is tiny and the fries come in a small metal cup. There were not any more than 20 people in there , and they were buried. 1 bartender and 2 servers could barely handle the few tables they had. Won't go back.

   Our friend was 22 they did not let her in because they thought her ID was fake. We asked if we out call the police to prove it was real and the security said it didn’t matter they would still not let her drink. We were there to celebrate a friends birthday. It was just a really bad way to start the day and really unfortunate on backyards part especially since the girl had been to backyard before.

   Made a reservation for ten for outdoor seating. They told us that the outdoor seating was more of a request and not a guarantee then sat us inside at a table with only 8 chairs (it was during the World Cup so everyone was stealing the chairs to watch the game). We had to ask them three times to move us and eventually they did to two tables of 6 that was much better. Our waiter was great and the food was great too. Extremely loud which is why we wanted to be outside. Wouldn’t recommend unless you’re a big sports fan and enjoy very loud sports on TV. They did also comp my friends meal bc it was her birthday which was very nice.

    Game day, Sunday Brunch is a great vibe but loud as you can expect. Great service. Food was good. They spoiled our dog with tears and even a bowl of water.

    Waitress took 25 minutes to take our initial order and then would hardly ever come by to check on us and refill our drinks. Seafood options were also very poor quality.

    The place wasn’t even open. I brought a group of 12 girls for brunch and they weren’t open. Not sure who’s at fault open table or the restaurant but I shouldn’t have been able to reserve a table if the place was closed. Huge disappointment and inconvenience.

    Good sports bar/ beach bar for larger groups. Not great for a date. Definitely oriented towards a younger crowd. Lots of TVs to watch a variety of sports.

    We are in town on vacation. Chose this restaurant to meet up with an old friend. Our server was awesome. She was attentive & kind. All of our food was brought out correctly & timely. I would visit again but I think it’s best to keep it on the earlier side because it seems to change to a much younger crowd as it gets later. We had a great time!

    Service was excellent, our servers were very nice young ladies and made us feel welcomed! Wings were delicious, huge, and a great price! I ordered the cheesesteak and was pleasantly surprised! Second straight year we have a family dinner at this spot and definitely recommending it and coming back.

    We made a reservation for dinner for my friends birthday and they closed the kitchen before we arrived without warning. We never would have come here if we knew they closed the kitchen, wasted a lot of money ubering there for nothing. Call next time or don’t do reservations.

    This was one of the only places with availability for Mother’s Day brunch, but I’m so glad we tried it out! The servers and hostesses were very pleasant and attentive. The bottomless mimosa bar and Cher impersonator were super fun. They made the restaurant pretty with Mother’s Day flowers and balloons. Best of all, the food was delicious: mini biscuits, breakfast burrito, croissant sandwich, chiliquiles, cornbread skillet, and avocado toast. Loved them all. Highly recommend for a fun, casual brunch!

    Super fun spot but definitely more of a bar than a restaurant. We took our kids and this was not what we were expecting. A lot of menu items were not available. Had to sit at a high top table near the bar even though we requested a standard table online. One of the hostess were unwilling to move us and said “this is your assigned table, you either want it or you don’t!”

    My family had a great Easter brunch at Backyard! The food was delicious and the bottomless mimosa bar was fun! There was even an adult easter egg hunt with prizes like a tshirt or shot or apps. The staff was friendly and the vibe was fun. Would definitely recommend and come again

    Backyard Kitchen is a good place to gather friends. Long tables and generous booths accommodate groups wonderfully. We had a group of 10 at a long table. We could hear each other pretty well, but it was a slow weeknight and I imagine that would have been more difficult on a busy night. There was live music at one end of the room. Since the restaurant has one open wall, it takes advantage of the good weather in Pacific Beach. Our server was excellent at keeping us all straight and supplied with food snd drink. There was an extensive mixed drink and beer menu and hearty food. Not much for true vegetarians, though. I had the bison burger which was a bit tough even at med-rare, with a very good kale slaw. The roasted salmon and asparagus was a big hit.

    We all enjoyed dining here on ‘Taco Tuesday’ The food was very tasty and the server was attentive and friendly. We dined early so almost had the place to ourselves. They had a variety of beers and changed the tv channel so we could watch the basketball team from home. The raspberry filled donuts for dessert were delicious.
