   Overall very good ambience service and good if not spectacular food. Was back for the first time in a few years -- this time for a NYE dinner at 9.30 PM for two. We had the French onion soup (good but bit a too sweet) and the acorn Squash soup to start (pretty but a bit bland, flavor-wise -- toasted pine nuts would have had much more impact than virtually flavorless raw pumpkin seeds). I had the trout which was wonderful but the presentation was very poor (they just piled the various vegetables and sides on top) and my companion had the sea bass which was very good but for the size of the fish itself which was insultingly anemic especially for a $34 entree. For desert we had pot de creme (very good) and Parisian Rice pudding with caramel which was also very good but perhaps a bit lacking as far as quantity. Some room for improvement for sure..

   What a great place to have a New Year's Eve dinner. Chez Billy Sud has been a favorite of ours since it opened. The only thing I wish they would bring back is the Paris-Brest!

   Beautiful, comfortable dining room and not too noisy. I had the Scottish salmon and it was fantastic. My partner had the roast chicken, and that was very good, too. Excellent wines, although it would be nice if there were more than one chardonnay on the menu (and if one was priced less than $19 a glass). I had the Cotes du Rhone, and it was delicious with the beurre rouge salmon. Chez Billy lived up to its reputation, and I look forward to returning for dinner after their renovation is complete.

   The food was very good, the service was a bit pretentious but efficient enough. Loves the atmosphere and vibe, cute and cosy. Pricing was on the higher end but reasonable for what you got. 20% mandatory gratuity was unexpected.

    I have loved Chez Billy Sud forever. Last night was a bit of a disappointment though. The delicious bread is a treat of the past. A service fee of 20% is added to your bill (there were only 2 of us dining so not a large group) Steak fritte is now $42 and a glass of Chardonnay is $18. I don’t see the value and the ambiance and food were a 3 out of 5. Go to the Brasserie on Prospect Street for a better experience.

    We had a wonderful evening! Only one weird thing to mention - because of health code reasons, mouelles are not allowed to be taken home. I had to surrender 1/2 of the pot because I was too full to finish it. Disappointing and seems wasteful - I would have ordered differently had I known this. Otherwise I had a really lovely meal. Burgers were tasty. The duck was crispy, yet tender. The short ribs were succulent; my friend practically liked his plate! The desserts were divine - light cheesecake, rich rice pudding, smooth and chocolaty pots de creme, silky creme brûlée, and palate cleansing sorbet.

    The cappuccino was sub par as was the complimentary dessert. The mussels were great. The frites would have benefited from a little salt. You asked. The decor was great and the waitress gracious.

    The server, while very polite, never asked if I wanted another glass of wine ( and I did) and brought a dessert menu to my wife only and never asked if I wanted dessert. Strange. Also, the hamburger was dry and lacked any flavor.

    When we arrived they inmediately said the host (not friendly or nice at all) were fully booked and than the only place will be the bar. Which was completly a lie because I went to the app and was able to make a reservation, I shower her and she took us back to the host stand and then the manager gave us the same speech (no tables available) even thought I was shoing him the reservation ( dont know if was Dress code thing, racial o simple they didnt want us to sit, targetted somehow) Finally we got a table and the only nice thing about the "experience" was our server, reccomendations and being sweet to us was really good.

    Visiting from out of town with our two teenagers… We all thoroughly enjoyed Chez Billy Sud - from drinks to dessert. The roasted oysters and goat cheese to start were my favorite, but everything was delicious. The ambience was quaint and welcoming. Our server was charming. Highly recommend.
