Founded in 2013 by Davin and Jessica Waite, Wrench & Rodent is a space for culinary exploration and collaboration. This cozy, eclectic restaurant quickly became a destination for those who appreciated Chef Davin’s creative approach to celebrating local and responsibly sourced fish and produce.

In addition to a set sushi menu, Wrench offers an omakase as well as a list of specials that change daily. The team is committed to reducing waste and enhancing flavor by elevating all cuts of fish and veggies, as well as featuring a diverse range of species. Many menu items are simple, fresh and creative, with a lesser-known fish species complimented by ingredients from the backyard garden. Byproduct utilization drives the menu as well, and recent explorations with aging techniques have led to a dry aged fish program. Plant-forward preparations are also celebrated, and a vegan omakase is available upon request.

    This nightly omakase features the freshest local fish and produce, blending a strong commitment to culinary tradition with the playful irreverence that sets our team apart. Courses include thoughtful sashimi presentations, a broad array of nigiri, as well as a unique salad and a hot course. Our team is committed to reducing waste and enhancing flavor by elevating all cuts of fish and veggies, as well as featuring a diverse range of species. Many menu items are simple, fresh and creative, with a lesser-known fish species complimented by ingredients from the backyard garden; a recent example is local rockfish in nasturtium and mint water. Byproduct utilization drives the menu as well, with preparations like ‘seared black cod with black cod liver poached in wagu beef fat’ making an appearance. Recent explorations with aging techniques have led to a dry aged fish program that yields dishes such as aged toro with shio koji orange juice, dry aged salmon with chamomile, and aged kampachi with confit tomatoes and wagyu lardo. Plant-forward preparations are also celebrated, and a vegan omakase is available upon request.

    The Waite and Sea experience was totally amazing! Davin Waite never disappoints and his entire team was at their very best — as they always are. The plates were simply (and grandly) delicious. Unexpected flavors, home grown goodness, exotic ingredients, and techniques to make each dish sing. We’ve missed sitting at the sushi bar since COVID but this was an experience like no other. And a great group at the sushi bar to chat with to top off the experience.

    I really wanted to enjoy my experience at Wench and Rodent. The concept is cool, the space has potential, and I came in with an open mind, ready to support something unique. Unfortunately, there were a few major issues that made it hard to enjoy the visit. The most immediate concern was finding a long hair in my drink—not a loose strand, but a noticeable one that completely changed the mood. Beyond that, I couldn’t ignore some serious lapses in basic food handling. Multiple servers were not wearing gloves, and I watched as they touched their phones, scratched their faces, ran hands through hair, and then immediately handled food and drinks without washing or sanitizing. I don’t expect perfection, but I do expect a baseline level of cleanliness and awareness, especially in a restaurant setting. I say this not to tear anyone down, but because I genuinely hope these things are addressed.

    An outstanding dining experienced by my Wife and I at Wrench and Rodent Seabasstropub. Shame on us for not dining sooner than our first visit almost a year ago. The freshest, creative, and most flavor filled seafood we have ever enjoyed. Beginning with the Seaweed Salad, the Cucumber Salad, then the Nigiri Sushi, Fried Rice, Sashimi, and the 'dessert' of Uni. We will return to this great restaurant in a short period of no longer than two weeks, and then every two weeks after.

    We have always enjoyed eating at Wrench and Rodent but the Waite and Sea and was an amazing experience. Davin has taken sushi to a whole different level. Great to experience the mind behind all the wonderful dishes set before us. He and his wife Jess make a great team!!
