Kamayan means ‘with hands’ in Tagalog. It is a pre-colonial style of communal eating, where the food is displayed on banana leaves instead of plates and is eaten with your hands. It is a stunning and colorful display of a variety of Filipino foods, and the experience is amplified by the opportunity to eat together in community. You can now experience your very own kamayan in this unique and interactive dine-in experience at Harana Market. Our team will build your kamayan spread in front of you on your banana leaf-covered table. We will talk you through your full kamayan menu and show you how to eat with your hands. Eating with your hands connects you to the food and makes for an intimate experience with each ingredient. Our Kamayan Menu is $90/person and includes -hot hand towel - garlic popcorn - - a non-alcoholic drink of your choice - at least five hot food items (Chef's Picks - No Subs) -Jasmine and garlic rice - fresh-cut fruits - one dessert for every two people Available Thursday & Friday from 4:30-7:00. In collaboration with Flowershop Collective and Artist Samhita Kamisetty, we invite you to join us for this one-of a kind bundle dyeing class. As a part of 'an archive is a space for gathering', produced by Flower Shop Collective, artist @sam.hit.a will share her knowledge of bundle dyeing, a unique process that uses local flowers, spices, herbs, and kitchen ingredients to create beautiful prints and patterns on silk. Beginner-friendly and open to all, you’ll leave this workshop with a one-of-a-kind piece, the knowledge to recreate this sustainable technique at home, and a greater understanding of the science behind natural dyeing. About The Teacher: Samhita Kamisetty is a visual artist based in Brooklyn. Drawing inspiration from her roots in Portland, Oregon, and Bangalore, India, she explores materiality, memory, and function in her work, blending narratives and shapes rooted in rituals and everyday life. Samhita has led workshops with brands and community spaces in and around New York and Bangalore. She holds a BFA in Studio Art from New York University. For attendees of a live-action role-playing (LARP) camp in upstate New York, the deeply accepting environment has given neurodivergent, queer, and self-proclaimed "nerdy" teenagers the space and community for self-discovery that they have never found anywhere else. As the campers immerse themselves in this imaginative world, they discover inner strength, heal from past traumas, and emerge as the heroes they are meant to be, both in the fantasy realm and in real life. Winner of the SXSW Special Jury Award for Bravery and Empathy, We Can Be Heroes perfectly captures and celebrates the small, fleeting, but profoundly formative moments that make up the most intense years of adolescence, with a little help from foam swords.
