    First dining experience with Piatti was a good one!! Attentive service. Cocktails & wine were enjoyable , food was wonderful , Scampi with polenta, chicken Marsala exceptional. We added the basket of bread and it was a great compliment to dinner

    One of us took one bite of pasta and. Dialed it Didn’t eat anything morsel. Waiter didn’t say anything except do you want to pack it up at end.

    bread basket: focaccia was dry and breadstick was chewy stale. diavola pizza: chewy stale crust bolognese pasta: weak on sauce service: lackluster and anytime i asked for something they never remembered water refills: the most attentive part of the service..we never went thirsty. arnold palmer: best part of the meal nothing mind blowing that would have me returning back asap.

    With so many years of experience I am astonished the food is this mediocre. Service is quite good ambiance is nice! Food is not. The frito misto is ridiculous. The pasta ( I dined two successive nights) was dry. Overall the food ( except the crudo) is listless. The bread was stale and rock hard. Even the breadsticks were sub par. Laguna deserves better… it will succeed for a while as it is summer ( i am local); beware of off-season Piatti. Pay attention to your food. Please. I’d like to see you succeed!

    The food was amazing, handmade pasta felt like we were in Italy. Server Marco was terrific we are so excited to have this La Jolla favorite in Laguna Beach!

    Let's hope Piatti will be a success after so many other restaurants failed at this location. We were warmly greeted by the professional hostesses who allowed us to choose our table [we had a reservation at 6:00] so we sat outside on the patio by the beautiful historic fountain. The owners have done a nice job reimagining the restaurant...nice ambiance. It was concerning that my knife and fork had chunks of hardened food on them! Yes, the hostess quickly replaced them, but a quality restaurant never allows dirty tableware to reach the table. They have a decent selection of beer and wines although the wines are overpriced and corkage fee is $35! We dined on clams/squid linguine [delicious, lots of little squid tentacles, freshly made-in-house pasta], grilled octopus [roasty tasty], and sea bass crudo [light & citrusy]. Service was ably provided by Erik. We will return because I want to try their short rib next time.
