Laguna Beach's first sustainable sushi restaurant. At Oto Sushi, we bring you the freshest, highest-quality seafood and ingredients sourced from certified sustainable fisheries and eco-friendly farms, promoting ocean conservation and responsible farming with every bite.

Our scratch kitchen makes all our sauces in-house, free from preservatives and artificial ingredients. Our menu is thoughtfully designed to cater to various preferences, with 98% of our offerings gluten-free, including gluten-free soy sauce, tempura, and more.

Our signature menu features standout items like the Laguna Heat Roll; Nigiri with Yakumi, where each piece of premium fish is delicately enhanced with fresh, seasonal garnishes; and our award-nominated Oto Burgers, a sushi-inspired twist on a classic burger with bold umami flavors. Val was a great server! He noticed it was my boyfriend’s birthday yesterday and gave us a free dessert. Food was amazing, all of his recommendations were great. We loved the ambiance and layout of the restaurant, great for date night. Will be coming back again many more times!

Our first meal at Oto: We easily made reservations via the Opentable app. We were a few minutes late for our reservation time, however we were seated immediately. My girlfriends servings of Salmon sashimi were generous - meaning cut thick and served generously. The rolls that I order were assembled with care and served with style. The flavor of the rolls was perfectly balanced and the texture of each the pieces was flawless. The only two drawbacks to the dinner was the noise level and the perceived disorganization of the wait staff was a little bit frustrating. Overall: a great meal!

Loved the fresh wasabi grated table side. Got the sushi for 2 so we could sample a few things- everything was delicious.

Quality and taste of food was awful, let alone the fact that we only ordered a handful of items to try, 1 being sashimi plate to go along with the plain salad, and it never came. Eventually we asked and were told it went to another table. So after waiting at least 30 min for that, the sashimi came out frozen on the inside. My roll has salmon skin, which I usually like, but they were stale, and the quality of the fish was underwhelming . We also got the poke with “sushi” rice and it came out with undercooked uncle Ben’s rice. Worst sushi experience I’ve ever had. Hopefully just growing pains of a new restaurant

Hi Mo Kantari, Thanks for your feedback—we’re sorry your visit fell short of expectations. While we understand the frustration with delays on the sashimi, it should’ve been communicated sooner that it went to the wrong table. That’s on us, and we’re working on stronger check-ins to avoid issues like this. To clarify, all sushi rice used in our rolls, poke, and nigiri is made in-house using traditional methods. It may not have been to your taste, but it wasn’t “Uncle Ben’s”; he’s not on payroll. 😉 None of our fish is frozen; we receive fresh deliveries daily and take pride in our sourcing. With just one roll, a poke, and one type of sashimi, calling the food “awful” feels a bit sweeping, but we respect that not every guest connects with our approach. We wish you great meals ahead.

Great food and different! Loved some of the BBQ sushi. All of the rolls we ordered were sweet. We would like some options that are not sweet.

We had a wonderful experience! The food was awesome. Love the concept of “ sustainability “ and the menu indicates origin of all the different seafood . Service was outstanding. Great addition restaurants in Laguna Beach.!
