Disappointed that they did not honor the reservation I made. They were more interested in letting everyone go home early so they could close for the night.

Great location on Hwy 101 Encinitas. Parking can be a little tough weekends due to small parking lot but worth the walk if you can’t find a spot on that lot. The owners and staff are friendly, personable and professional. Menu is based on Mexico City style food, which is not your typical Mexican style food. I had the wood fired octopus, served over a bed of potatoes and it was delicious. My friend had the giant shrimp, served with a side of white rice. She didn’t let me taste it and she ate every last piece of shrimp on the plate. I’ll try that on my next visit!

The food is outstanding and super fresh The place is absolutely beautiful and you can really feel that is Mexico The music just on point perfect for big groups and family Try the tuna tostada. , Hamachi and also the Flamas Giant Shrimp Skillet

I asked for two items off the menu and was told they didn’t have that available. The food was a little bland and the beer was flat. Service was pretty good.

Absolutely delicious food, traditional Mexican served with a unique style. The service was great, warm and friendly with expert knowledge of the menu. We are going back for certain.

Our experience at Puntamar was great! You can tell the restaurant was curated with a lot of detail and knowledge about the cuisine. We shared the aguachile and had an assortment of tacos. Recommend for a fun date night or night out with friends!

This was our first time eating here. The restaurant is beautiful and the food was delicious! Great vibe! My husband had the taco plate and I had the branzino. I can’t wait to go back and try something else.

Puntamar has become one of our favorites in the area. Alejandro is a warm and attentive owner and beautifully shares his love for the food he presents. Standouts include the tuna tataki tostadas, the Machu Picchu ceviche, the birria pizza, and the octopus. I always look forward to going back and trying something new or seeing the faces of the new folks we’ve brought with us to dine. I always feel transported to someplace magical when we dine here. Love, love, love this place.
