Under the culinary direction of Chef Somoza, Flora’s menu captures the spirit of Mediterranean seaside towns from Saint Tropez to Capri to Marbella, spotlighting the bountiful seafood and vibrant produce that are hallmarks of coastal cuisine. With a passion for fresh ingredients rooted in his childhood in the Spanish countryside, picking wild blackberries and foraging mushrooms and wild asparagus, Chef Somoza is drawn to local, farm-to-table cooking.

The Flora menu is made up of regional ingredients such as sweet corn, seasonal vegetables and fruits, local seafood and small farm sourced meats, and is anchored by a crudo bar and fish main courses including Dover Sole, Bank Scallops, pan seared halibut. A skilled pastry chef and boulanger, Somoza is also putting an emphasis on quality breads and an impressive offering of house-made pastries and ice cream, and the most delicious creme brulee.

Flora has an outstanding setting. Most of the food is very good. However, there are some flaws. The thin gazpacho is a rip-off at $18. I have had gazpacho in Spain which was chunky with tomatoes and had more spice. The paella, they call it something else, is very good, but is not authentic. There is no saffron. There is very little crunchy rice on the bottom. There is no confit chicken. However, the seafood toppings were sufficiemt and tasty. My friends thought the paella they had in Borough Market in London, standing up, was much tastier. Nevertheless, we had a good time. The bread and service were excellent.

We had a lovely dinner here! Got to the resturant 30 mins early and had cocktails at the bar! The lavender gin cocktail was amazing! It was such a beautiful dining room and the food was delicious! The sommelier was super helpful and kind! The wait staff were attentive!

My husband and I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere but unfortunately two large tables next to us were a big family. They were extremely loud as they talked across their tables and they were switching chairs with each other all evening. I wish they had been in a separate part of the restaurant so we could have really enjoyed our evening.

It was a perfect dining experience last night at Flora! Gorgeous, lively space. Perfect, attentive and accommodating service. Delicious food. Friendly team clearing and bussing table, etc. Loved it and will be back!

A beautiful restaurant with outstanding views of the Newport harbor and marina. Wonderful service and outstanding food. Menu is varied with many interesting seafood options.

Flora is always exceptional but this was our first time dining on the terrace and it was delightful. The staff, food, ambiance, music and view were all fabulous! Great spot in downtown Newport!

I ordered the panzanella salad and my husband had the linguini al vongole, and both dishes were absolutely incredible. The ambience was very inviting, and the service was attentive without being overbearing. We’ll definitely be coming back!

The space is beautiful. Food was excellent, but can def find more value for your money in Newport. Our waitress Stacy was amazing, especially given the frenzy that was last night. Lost stars for noise level, it was astounding.

Food was absolutely delish - probably the best food experience we had during our trip to Newport. Great wine selection, attentive service & staff was accommodating in seating us early. Highly recommend seating outside.
