After 18 years of service at Shokudo Japanese Restaurant and Bar on Kapiolani boulevard, we are excited to announce the introduction of Kaimuki Shokudo on 11th avenue. The zaru soba with shrimp and maitake tempura are my go-to's. Also had the Okinawa potato salad during this visit and it was also delicious.

Took my 92 year old mom there for an early dinner. We made reservations through Open Table which was super easy. They have handicapped parking right in front of the restaurant, so it made it easy for her to walk. When the hostess checked us in, she offered to move us to a table close to the door so my mom wouldn't have to walk far. So nice! The waitress was also super friendly and nice and checked on us frequently. My mom had the Zaru Soba which she enjoyed very much. She said it was one of the best soba she has had. I had the half order of Beef Curry. We also ordered the Tataki Cucumber Salad. The curry was tasty and the cucumber salad was refreshing. And, of course, we had to order the Honey Toast. The flavor of the day was chocolate so we had that. I usually get vanilla but my mom wanted chocolate and it was very good! My mom says this is now one of her favorite places! Thank you for a very nice dinner with my mom!

Great service by our server! She was the best and accommodating or party of 10 with two little kids. Food was excellent as well.

The Spicy Tuna and Sumiyaki Washugyu Donburi was great! Also ordered Beef Curry, Uzaku, Okinawa Sweet potato salad, chicken karate, shoyu butter scallops, shrimp tempura…all were tasty…but small amounts. Had the honey toast for dessert…great way to top it off!

Just a great experience all the way around. Fantastic food and cool atmosphere and a great, attentive staff. .. and it’s FUN!
