Will definitely go back the Detroit location. Everything from the drinks to the food was amazing. I had the chicken thighs, greens, and red beans and rice with a cornbread muffin.

We enjoyed our overall experience at Fixins Soul Food Kitchen and appreciated that even the owner and restauranteur Kevin Johnson was there appeared hands-on with making sure the restaurant was operating according the standards expected. I will give our honest impression on the following: Food, Service, Ambience, Price, and Environment. > Food - We ordered the Fried green tomatoes and Fried catfish nuggets as our appetizers. They both were served quickly between 5-10 minutes and were hot. The fish was cooked perfectly moist and the was very flavorful. The fried green tomatoes were served hot and the crust was slightly less crunchy than I would have liked but the flavor was great and on point. The nuggets were served with a delicious dill ranch and chipotle mayo, both were flavorful. The fried green tomatoes were served with chipotle mayo as well. For our entrees we ordered the 3 piece fried chicken with macaroni and cheese, collard greens with turkey necks, and red beans and rice. The chicken was moist, extra crispy, and very flavorful with a slight kick of spice. No need for hot sauce on this chicken! The macaroni and cheese tasted very homemade like my mother and grandmother's baked macaron and cheese. The collard greens were flavorful and had a kick as well, not overly vinegary or salty. The red beans and rice were typical but not lacking in flavor. I would order again. Prices were: $90 for 2 people. >Service - Our service was slightly disappointing from the main server that took our order. To be fair, the restaurant was busy, but she did not return to check on water refills and forgot to get requests for extra sauce and refills. She was polite but took quite a bit of time, over 10 minutes to give our check. Recommend writing things down in the future. > Ambience and Environment - The ambience was very energetic and LOUD, so if you prefer intimate and quiet, I suggest another restaurant or perhaps take-out, because the food was good!

I enjoyed this place. Food was good. Staff was friendly and hospitable. Owner stopped at our table to make sure everything was great!!! Five star for sure. Nit to mention parking was right across the street!! Love it

This was my third time at Fixins restaurant in Detroit. The food was good. The service was good and we had a great server. The only issue I had was that we sat next to a group of men about seven gentlemen, older gentlemen and there entire conversation was swear words. That would not stop me from coming to the restaurant and I did address it with the owner. Until next time.

Booked a reservation for Fathers Day and everything was perfect. Reservation was at 6:45pm we were sat by 6:30. We received our food and ate within 30 minutes. Nickole was our server she was attentive and professional. We enjoyed our meal and will be back. Thanks for a great time.

First, be prepared to pay $20 or more for parking near the restaurant. The ambiance was good (liked the Motown memorabilia.) The main course was good (Gumbo, Oxtails.) The sides (Mac & cheese, candied yams) were just okay. Appreciated the large size drinks. The dessert we ordered to-go. They were terrible. The banana pudding was mostly whipped cream with one small banana, and the peach cobbler was the worst I ever had. Service was slow, but it was Father's Day. This was my first time coming to this establishment.

My services was great. I forgot her name. However me my family was in the back room. Gospel music was playing . The he vibes was there will be back. Food was excellent
