It was our first time to Agave and Rye and we were disappointed with the kitchen service. Our waitress was awesome, but the kitchen was sooo slow. It was a Saturday 6/28, there was a Guards Game Day, and people were just standing around.

Booked reservation because of great reviews unfortunately as my husband and I walked in we were greeted by a a hostess/server who had no idea what she was doing thought we wanted to be seated outside although it was pouring rain outside. Took almost 15 minutes for our drinks even though there was no one in the restaurant. Appetizer was Mango pico... lots of Pico barely any mango very disappointing.. The tacos saved the overall experience for us. Unfortunately we will not be back

We had a great time. The ambiance was energetic and the wait staff was so nice. The appetizer portions could be a bit larger. But the main courses were plenty big enough.

Agave & Rye is a trendy cocktail and taco spot. I definitely put cocktails first and the tacos at a lagging second. The margaritas are amazing. I had the Bee Sting margarita that included a taste-altering floral garnish. The bourbon and tequila margarita was amazing and was a novel experience when tasted with after the edible flower. The tacos were all style over taste. Overstuffed and overstated. I didn’t try their more traditional dishes or other entrees, maybe their better, but the majority of the menu was dedicated to tacos with cheesy millennial-reference names like the “Swipe Right” (which was actually the better tasting taco that I sampled)

I can't speak to the food because we were never sat. We had a reservation and after waiting 15 for a hostess to appear, we were told they couldn't accommodate our 2 person party. I told her we had a reservation and she said it didn't matter. There were two other parties behind us of 6 & 7 who were sat even though their reservation was 45 minutes later than ours. There were also two other parties of two with reservations who were told the same thing. No solution was offered by the staff, no wait time was given, it shouldn't matter that there was a concert downtown, we had a reservation. What a joke.

We made a reservation in advance for 4:45pm before a concert we were attending locally at 7pm. When we arrived to the restaurant 5 minutes before our reservation, there was a long line of people out the door that wasn’t moving. Upon inquiring and referencing our reservation, we were told they had 200 reservations and due to the rain (which had been in the forecast for days) the seating was more limited because they could not utilize outside seating. They clearly grossly overbooked reservations, which was unfair to everyone who made one, and there was clear lack of consideration for guests. We had to find alternate arrangements which defeated the purpose of making reservations to begin with and could not be accommodated at a number of other restaurants in the area due to our lack of reservation elsewhere. Would not recommend this establishment.

This was one of the worst experiences we have ever had. We waited 20 minutes for a host to even come to the host stand. There was a long line of people. Once she came, we had to wait 15-20 minutes before a server came, 15 again before drinks, another 20-25 before ordering. We received an appetizer with no plates, napkins, or silverware. By the time we got it, the food was lukewarm. Our next appetizer came and was incorrect. The server never asked if we needed anything. She kept walking right by even though we tried to get her attention. An overall terrible experience.

Food was great. They seemed to be understaffed at the bar and with the servers. It took forever to get our drinks. Our server was great she just had too many tables to take care of.
