Sink your teeth into Rare Society - a modern homage to the golden age of the American steakhouse. Chef and owner Brad Wise reimagines vintage upscale dining with a bold, contemporary edge: a wood-fired grill fueled by red oak, an in-house dry-aging program, sustainably sourced seafood, and a progressive cocktail menu that nods to the classics while pushing boundaries. The space hums with energy - smoke curling from the grill, the scent of fire and flavor wafting through the air. It’s easy to picture a Rat Pack-era dinner party in full swing: elegant, indulgent, just a little unruly. There's been a lot of hype about Rare Society, so we decided to check it out on a Sunday evening, thinking it would be a little less crowded. It's a pretty place, very upscale, nice large bar. Our server was really great, and very attentive. The big disappointment was the food! It was very bland. We all got ribeyes, and they had no flavor. Even the accompaniments were bland. Someone forgot the seasoning on everything. We won't be back, as it was expensive.

Rare Society, Saturday evening, peak time: This has to have been the most together restaurant which I have visited in the twelve years I have been in Southern California. Parking at peak hour was a lot easier than you would imagine. We circled the block once and parked right outside the front door, we had a choice of spots. This Rare Society has a wonderfully clever chef executif, great bussers, bartenders and hostesses. Our waiter was presumably telepathic, as he had perfect timing. The place has a pervasive chic ambience and is a highly tuned machine at the same time. The architecture of the restaurant is well thought out, with an inner chamber view of the lower bar area, a constructive lateral view of other happy diners and an outward view of the ocean, as well as an open air quarter with roof top views. It was also great to see a diversity of guests and ladies dressed well for the occasion. The guys, myself included dropped the ball and turned up in jeans. But everybody looked pleased. Thoroughly recommend this San Clemente treasure chest.

If you’re craving a perfectly cooked steak with sides that actually elevate the meal — look no further. The steak was seared to perfection with a flavorful crust and juicy center that practically melted in my mouth. What really sealed the deal were the sides: the grilled asparagus was tender with just the right snap, and the sautéed mushrooms were rich, buttery, and full of umami. Everything on the plate complemented each other beautifully — a truly satisfying and well-balanced meal. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and the ambiance made it easy to relax and enjoy every bite. Highly recommend for steak lovers who care about their sides just as much as the main course.

The food was absolutely amazing, but the service was awful. We saw our waiter a handful of times and we were at the restaurant for over 2 1/2 hours. Due to the fact that the service was so poor, we will not be going back.

This place was amazing. From the drinks, to the appetizers, to the main course and definitely the butter cake desert! Well worth making your way down to Rare Society. The staff was super friendly and everyone, including the managers were very attentive.

The service has gotten not great since they opened. Takes a long time to even get an initial drink. I think maybe they’re understaffed.

Food was great. Love the atmosphere and how modern it looks. Service was Ok with our server but food came out timely. Drinks were delicious.

This was our first time at Rare Society. We thought the food was excellent. The filet was one of the best ever. The food was really good. Service was good. Parking was a nightmare. Was hoping to see valet. Noise level was very high. We would come back again for the food.
