About this restaurant

  • Hot spot
  • Innovative
  • Neighborhood gem
Chef/Owner Anthony Mangieri has been crafting naturally-leavened, wood-fired pizzas with meticulous attention to detail since 1996. A pioneer of Neapolitan pizza in the U.S., Anthony still makes every ball of dough by hand and is at Una making pizza every night. A few starters and desserts complement the pizzas, along with wines from Campania, Italy. Everything is made fresh daily until sold out.

In the intimate dining room, guests are surrounded by one-of-a-kind pieces of art while watching Anthony work the dough and bake three pizzas at a time. The choice to have only one location allows for an obsessive focus on every detail.

Una has been awarded #1 pizzeria in the world by 50 Top Pizza for 2022 and 2024, a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand, and recognized in media outlets including the TODAY Show, CBS Mornings, and Esquire.

Open Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Reservations from 5 - 9:15pm. Reservations that have been traded or purchased through third party platforms will not be honored.

Why they're an Icon

From the OpenTable editors: This Lower East Side award-winner from pioneering pizzaiolo Anthony Mangieri was named the number-one pizzeria in the world by 50 Top Pizza in 2022 and 2024. Unsurprisingly, the pies—simple and classic on naturally leavened dough—are the stars at the bustling, elbow-to-elbow space. But don't miss the house-made gelato and fresh-fruit sorbetti, nor the standout wines from Campania.

Finally got to experience Una Pizza, the ambiance and atmosphere is great, pizza was good but you can’t remove anything from the pizza which is a bit of a bummer especially considering the pizza isn’t pre-made. The roasted peppers and bean appetizer are excellent. I would definitely recommend this place and visit again.

I had high expectations for Una Pizza, as it was recently judged #1 pizza place. Bread was excellent, sauce & cheese were good, but the specialty pizza did not come together, anchovies were a bit too salty. In appetizers, none (Burrata, olives and peppers) jumped out at us either. Overall, it was decent pizzas and that’s it! We expected a whole lot more from a #1 place. That compared to the price and all the trouble we went thru to reserve, not a good value or worth it.

Let me preface this by saying that the pizza itself is truly delicious and worth the hype. My only piece of criticism is that some bites were slightly too salty for my taste. However, I waited about 45 minutes from the moment I ordered to when my pizza arrived. There is absolutely no reason for a pizza margherita to require that long to make, especially considering the relatively small venue and limited number of guests at any one time. At some point I actually thought I was being pranked, like those social experiments where they test how long people can wait before "breaking". Once the pizza did arrive, I was much happier, but it really didn't make up for the incredibly slow service. The ambiance was fine, a little too pretentious for a pizza place, it kinda felt like all the soul and culture has been sucked out of it. Not to mention the price point, $30 for a simple margherita is diabolical, but that's coming from an Italian who moved to NYC just 2 years ago, so I guess I'm still not used to how overpriced everything in this city is.

Pizza was good. Prob not the best I’ve had but it was good. I think reservations are way too hard to secure for no great reason and prices are a bit too high.

My experience was incredible. The service was perfect, the waiters were quick and attentive. The pizzas were also amazing and authentic. As someone that has family in Napoli, I can say it was truly worth it. Will definitely be back!
