Comfort food from Kerala, India's spice garden. Thattu is located in the beautiful Chicago neighborhood of Avondale. It was born of Chef Margaret Pak’s love for the southwest Indian coastal cuisine of Kerala. Our menu brings you traditions of Kerala along with playful interpretations from our culinary team. Rich with aromatic spices, coconut and curry leaves, the cuisine is a celebration of the bounty of the land and the sea.

    The food is overrated - none of dishes were amazing. Prices are reasonable but portions are small. Service was good - waitresses were cordial. But ordering from app is a pain. One good thing was that there are no mandatory TIP - service people paid through profit sharing.

    Three of us celebrated a birthday yesterday and we were not disappointed! Thattu has wonderful food. Although I’m not very familiar with Indian food, the servers were very helpful and all our picks were excellent! The mushroom appetizer was superb as was the pork chop dish. We had excellent cocktails with interesting twists. The service staff was superbly helpful and informative, especially as they “tried” to instruct us on the smart phone use for ordering. It was clunky, but we all used humor to get through it! Will be back!

    We had a great luncheon experience. We were seated right away. The servers were helpful and attentive. The food came out quickly and hot, as it was ready. We did not feel rushed and were able to enjoy our meal together.
