They opened too soon. Took 15 minutes to get an espresso martini, after we were welcomed with, ‘sorry for the short menu, we just opened’. Ok fine. The bar tender was awful. Not a full bar at all, couldn’t handle the service drinks. But then the server who was so apologetic thru out the evening, after saying they were out of a handful of things on an already short menu. Generally the entire restaurant seems WAY out of place for being on Block Island. Definitely belongs in Providence or East Greenwich.

This has potential to be a great new restaurant on Block Island. We were there for the soft opening menu and operation is getting sorted. Very hospitable and beautiful renovation. Good Luck

We recently checked out the stunning new One BI and were admittedly a bit nervous after reading some early reviews. But we’ve been vacationing on Block Island for years, so we understood the vibe—and we were eager to try something new. Knowing they had just opened, we went in with tempered expectations… and were genuinely impressed! The space is gorgeous—just as others have mentioned. Every detail was thoughtfully designed. We were warmly welcomed by Coco, who brought us to a beautiful round table tucked in the corner. The nautical touches in the décor and the elegant table settings really elevate the atmosphere. Our server, Amy, was fantastic—friendly, attentive, and on top of everything. Yes, it’s a steakhouse on BI, so prices are on the higher end, but we went in expecting that. We made a few special requests, and they were all accommodated with no fuss. Cocktails were spot-on, and the steaks came out exactly as ordered—perfectly cooked and flavorful. Service wasn’t lightning fast, but we didn’t mind one bit—it gave us a chance to really enjoy the full experience from start to finish. If you’re in a rush or looking for a huge menu, you might want to wait a bit. But if you’re up for a relaxed evening and open to trying a thoughtfully curated new spot, we definitely recommend giving One BI a shot. We’re glad we did!

We were one of only FOUR tables seated inside, and four of us were clearly unhappy. Everyone was complaining—and for good reason. The space is beautiful, but that’s where the effort ends. The menu is extremely limited, which we understood as it’s a new spot, but the service made things worse. With only 2 fish dishes on the menu I was really surprised our waiter couldn’t explain how the halibut was prepared and awkwardly guessed before finally admitting he had no idea. We ordered the calamari and oysters Rockefeller. The calamari came on a massive bed of lettuce with maybe a dozen rings total, a clear attempt to make the portion look bigger. The oysters were decent, but things went downhill fast. As we were about to order our four steaks, we noticed complete chaos at the other tables. Wrong dishes, missing sauces, frustrated servers, and customers sending plates back. Our waiter was running around trying to find a manager who was nowhere to be found. It honestly felt like we were watching a restaurant unravel in real time. People looked disgusted. We decided not to stay for dinner and left. There were at least a dozen people in the kitchen, so the disorganization was baffling. Maybe grab a drink on the upstairs deck, but dinner? Not worth it—not until they seriously get it together. Beautiful place, but totally overpriced for the quality and experience. They are trying to be a high end restaurant with only the decor standing out.

Nice ambiance. Small portions with no garnishing. Steaks over done. Halibut on menu but not available. Sea bass instead of halibut. Sea bass was under done. Needs more experience in the kitchen. Suggestion for new restaurant is for management to float between the tables to gauge experience of diners.

Lots of potential to be excellent here. It’s Early days so hopefully they will get their kitchen timing and the servers attention to detail in better coordination. Many missteps as far as wait time for drinks and cutlery, but ultimately the food is good and the decor and attention to ambiance detail is welcome on this island. Our fish and steak were cooked to perfection and the calamari was fantastic.

I have never posted something like this before. I have to say, the place looks great, but after that, talk about one blunder after the next… I had such high expectations, but clearly they weren’t ready. I won’t get into everything that went wrong, but they had a very limited menu and they ran out of one of the 3 main courses on the menu, and server didn’t tell us that until at least 5 mins after two of us ordered that item. Side dishes came out several minutes after steaks, which were burnt and had to be sent send back. And the kicker was they mistakenly charged us for the food they didn’t have and it took a long time to get that taken off the bill. No manager came by to acknowledge this or the overall experience. Very disappointed overall. I get they just opened up, but this was beyond just working through some kinks.

6 guests. Early dinner. Blunder upon blunder. 45 min from ordering drinks (sodas, cocktails and wine) to receiving them and they were wrong. Overpriced. 3 jumbo cocktail shrimp $30 . Staff walking through the restaurant seating area with supplies, garbage, ice. Renovation is a 10 out of 10.
