   Almost wasn't sat down because we had 4 out of 6 for the reservation but the last two people were part of a "surprise" party. So of course we would arrive before them, hence the surprise. Asked for a table in the back in the request of the booking. one employee tried to accommodate if we were wiling to wait, which we agreed to but the hostess disagreed. Ended up in the middle of the whole restaurant. Advised it was for a birthday , in the reservation, to the hostess. No happy birthday was sung or a cake. Shame.

   Celebrated my grandpa’s 75th Birthday and everything was perfect! Angel was an amazing waiter and made sure we had everything we needed! Exceptional service, ambiance, food, and wait staff. Thank you Tops!!!

   There was no seating in the waiting area, they offer no marmalade or strawberry preserves during the breakfast meal. And some items are suddenly not available as they purportedly are revamping the menu.

   Service is consistently fantastic. They seem to be all well trained and the kitchen efficient and well organized. Both the wait staff and the food "deliverers" are spot on there when needed. The menu is daunting, including the specials which unless I have something already specific in mind, I usually go in that direction. This time I went with something I'd give a "B" to, not my usual "A". The Chicken Chaufa was freshly prepared but lacked seasoning, no flavor punch. And my wife's Steak Saltado was very flavorful, maybe even a tad salty. None of the above was a crucial issue, just a tweak here and there. It's the noise level. This time it bothered me. It can be loud in there. We were surrounded by large groups who happened to be loud and lacked some decorum. Maybe that was the issue, but it did take away from my usual Tops experience.

   We had heard that Tops was a NJ diner we must try. It surpassed expectations. Spacious interior with a great design. Lots of parking. Efficient and friendly service. Absolutely delicious food for any level of restaurant, and a huge menu. We need to go back 10 more times just to try everything delicious that we saw go by as we sat in our great booth. Tops is a “must visit” spot for many reasons. Delightful!
